In this paper, we demonstrate the first use of BCNO nanoparticles (BCNO NPs) as a novel highly efficient fluorosensor for Cu 2+ detection with high selectivity. The detection process is ultrafast and can be completed within 2 min, and the detection limit is 0.1 μM. We also show the practical use of this sensor for Cu 2+ determination in real water samples.
The development of detection devices with rapid response, high sensitivity, and precise detection capabilities for heavy metal ions remains a research hotspot in environmental protection and food safety. In this study, a facile and efficient synchronous doping/etching strategy was employed to synthesize hierarchically porous bimetallic MOF-derived CeSn@C-10 material. Comprehensive characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the incorporation of Sn species significantly enhanced oxygen vacancy concentration in the CeO 2 lattice while stabilizing low-valent Ce 3+ species, thereby boosting the electrocatalytic activity for CeSn@C-10. The hierarchical porous architecture endowed the material with an enlarged specific surface area and improved accessibility to active sites. When fabricated into an electrochemical sensor (CeSn@C-10/GCE), it exhibited exceptional Cu 2+ detection performance with dual linear ranges of 0.2–5 μM and 5–60 μM, achieving a low detection limit of 38 nM (S/N = 3). The sensor demonstrated remarkable anti-interference capability and promising applicability in real-sample analysis. This work provides a novel strategy for designing hierarchically porous bimetallic electrochemical sensors through synergistic enhancement mechanisms.
This work demonstrates the use of quantum dots (QDs) with photocatalytic activity as a sensitive, inexpensive and rapid colorimetric platform for Cu 2+ sensing. Based on the simple thiol compound mediated QDs growing method, CdS QDs can be quickly formed in situ, which possess excellent photocatalytic ability for the oxidation of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to produce a colored product under light irradiation . Cu 2+ can catalyze the oxidation of sulfhydryl groups in glutathione (GSH) which act as a stabilizer for CdS QDs. In the presence of Cu 2+ , GSH is oxidized and loss the stabilization ability for the growth of CdS QDs, thus resulting in the decrease of the absorbance. Under optimum conditions, as low as 5.3 nM Cu 2+ can be detected. This sensing system is simple, reliable and holds great potential to provide a new general platform for ultrasensitive monitoring of a variety of analytes .
