In this research, GO/Cu/Cr-MOF composites were fabricated via a dissolution-heat method. The GO/Cu/Cr-MOF composite was characterized using FT-IR, SEM, XRD, and EDS techniques. The characterization results confirmed the presence of Cu and Cr metallic elements in the composite, and FT-IR analysis demonstrated that the organic ligands were successfully coordinated with the metal centers. The characterized GO/Cu/Cr-MOF composite was employed in the removal study of fleroxacin and levofloxacin. The results demonstrate that the addition of 40 mg of the composite to a 40-ppm levofloxacin solution achieved a removal efficiency of 95.9% within 5 h. Likewise, adding the same amount of composite to a 20-ppm fleroxacin solution resulted in a maximum removal efficiency of 98.2% over the same time period. The experimental data were examined using both the kinetic model and the isotherm models. The results revealed that the adsorption of both antibiotics onto the GO/Cu/Cr-MOF composite followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and was most accurately represented by the Langmuir isotherm. The experimental results indicate that the adsorption capacity of the GO/Cu/Cr-MOF composite for fleroxacin and levofloxacin reaches its maximum within the pH range of 6 and 8.

Chromium slag usually contains various heavy metals, making its safe treatment difficult. Glass-ceramic sintering has been applied to resolve this issue and emerged as an effective method for metal immobilization by incorporating heavy metals into stable crystal structures. Currently, there is limited knowledge about the reaction pathways adopted by multiple heavy metals and the co-stabilization functions of the crystal structure. To study the Cu/Cr co-stabilization mechanisms during thermal treatment, a simulated system was prepared using a mixture with a molar ratio of Al 2 O 3 :Fe 2 O 3 :Cr 2 O 3 : CuO = 1:1:1:3. The samples were sintered at temperatures 600–1300°C followed by intensive analysis of phase constitutions and microstructure development. A spinel phase (CuFe x Al y Cr 2− x − y O 4 ) started to generate at 700°C and the incorporation of Cu/Cr into the spinel largely complete at 900°C, although the spinel peak intensity continued increasing slightly at temperatures above 900°C. Fe 2 O 3 /Cr 2 O 3 was more easily incorporated into the spinel at lower temperatures, while more Al 2 O 3 was gradually incorporated into the spinel at higher temperatures. Additionally, sintered sample microstructures became more condensed and smoother with increased sintering temperature. Cu / Cr leachability substantially decreased after Cu/Cr incorporation into the spinel phase at elevated temperatures. At 600°C, the leached ratios for Cu and Cr were 6.28% and 0.65%, respectively. When sintering temperature was increased to 1300°C, the leached ratios for all metal components in the system were below 0.2%. This study proposes a sustainable method for managing Cu/Cr co-exist slag at reasonable temperatures.

p-Nitrophenol (p-NP) is a toxic and persistent pollutant commonly found in industrial wastewater, necessitating efficient and economically viable treatment strategies. In this work, we develop a low-cost and high-performance catalyst consisting of Fe-Cu-Cr mixed metal oxides supported on activated carbon (AC), synthesized through a simple impregnation-calcination method and applied for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation.Systematic optimization of preparation parameters revealed that HCl pretreatment of activated carbon, a ternary Fe-Cu-Cr composition, a 20 wt% metal loading, and calcination at 600 °C yield the highest catalytic activity, achieving p-NP degradation with Ct/C₀ ≈ 0.25 after 4 h. Notably, the total treatment cost can be maintained below 30 CNY per ton of wastewater, demonstrating a substantial economic advantage over reported catalytic systems. Mechanistic studies show that p-NP degradation follows a synergistic adsorption-catalysis pathway, wherein activated carbon enriches p-NP at the catalyst surface and multivalent metal oxides efficiently activate PMS to generate reactive oxygen species, primarily •OH. This work introduces a practical, scalable, and cost-effective catalyst design using earth-abundant metals, offering a promising avenue

Chemical pressure engineering of Jahn-Teller distortion enables broadband high emissivity. • A quantitative Jahn-Teller distortion index ( Q OJT ) is established to correlate structure with emissivity. • Ca 2+ doping (Cu, Cr, Mn) 3 O 4 spinel achieves an emissivity of 0.947 across the 0.4–25 μm range. • Exceptional thermal stability is demonstrated with less than 1.4% degradation at 1673 K. • An 11% enhancement in heating rate is achieved in practical radiative heating tests. Infrared radiation materials with broadband emissivity and high thermal stability are highly desirable for energy saving and thermal management applications. However, achieving high emissivity across the visible to mid-infrared range (0.4–25.0 μm) remains challenging due to the discontinuous absorption mechanisms in ceramics. Herein, a strategy based on promoting Jahn-Teller (JT) distortion is proposed to enhance the broadband emissivity of (Cu, Cr, Mn) 3 O 4 spinel. Substituting Cu 2+ with alkaline-earth ions (Mg 2+ , Ca 2+ , Sr 2+ ) introduces tunable chemical pressure, which modifies the local electric field and valence state distribution, thereby regulating the JT structural evolution. An octahedral JT structural descriptor ( Q OJT ) is developed to quantitatively compare JT structural evolution among different compositions. The Q OJT values show a positive correlation with broadband emissivity. The optimized JT structural evolution simultaneously enhances electronic transition, carrier and lattice vibration absorption, enabling synergistic regulation of broadband emissivity across the entire 0.4–25.0 μm spectral range. Among the investigated compositions, Ca 2+ -doped (Cu, Cr, Mn) 3 O 4 exhibits a broadband emissivity of 0.947 and maintains excellent stability under a simulated hypersonic environment at 1673 K. In radiative heating test, it achieves a heating rate approximately 11% higher than that of Al 2 O 3 . These findings demonstrate that chemical pressure provides an effective strategy for regulating JT structural evolution and designing broadband thermal radiation ceramics for high temperature applications. A quantitative octahedral Jahn-Teller distortion index ( Q OJT ) correlates directly with emissivity performance. The optimized material achieves a 11% acceleration in heating rate, demonstrating its potential for high-temperature radiative transfer and thermal management applications.

Oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) Cu alloy is a kind of structural material with high thermal conductivity and high stability. It is promising to maintain mechanical integrity under thermal conductivity and high temperature conditions. These excellent properties are directly or indirectly attributed to the ultra-high number density of nano oxide particles, which act as a strong barrier for grain growth, dislocation slip and grain boundaries (GBs) slip. In this study, Cu-Cr-Y-Al-Ti-Si and ODS Cu-Cr-Y-Al-Ti-Si alloys were prepared by combining mechanical alloying with spark plasma sintering (SPS) technology. The influence of Cu 2 O on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and thermal stability of the Cu-Cr-Y-Al-Ti-Si alloy were investigated. Both alloys exhibited a heterogeneous mixture of coarse and fine grain structures. However, the addition of Cu 2 O led to grain refinement and the precipitation of a high density of uniformly distributed, nano-sized oxide particles throughout the copper matrix. Compared to the Cu-Cr-Y-Al-Ti-Si alloy, the ultimate tensile strength of the ODS Cu-Cr-Y-Al-Ti-Si alloy escalated from 409 MPa to 482 MPa, while the elongation slightly decreased from 17.2 % to 15.2 %. The ODS CuCrYAlTiSi alloy also demonstrates a room temperature thermal conductivity equivalent to 62.8 % of pure copper, and exhibits ultra-high microstructural stability after annealing at 600 °C for 100 h. The outstanding strength, ductility and high-temperature stability are primarily owing to the coherent nano-sized Y-X-O (X = Al, Ti, Si) particles dispersed in the ultra-fine grain copper matrix. These findings indicate that by integrating component design and process optimization, it is possible to effectively and efficiently produce ODS CuCrYAlTiSi alloy, which holds promising application prospects in structural materials for nuclear fusion reactors.

Escherichia coli ( E. coli )-induced diarrhea remains a major health challenge in yaks, leading to substantial economic losses in plateau livestock production. Meanwhile, the widespread use of antibiotics has accelerated the emergence of antimicrobial resistance, underscoring the urgent need for green and sustainable antibacterial alternatives. In this study, copper-doped Coptidis Rhizoma -derived carbon dots (Cu-CR-CDs) were successfully synthesized and systematically evaluated for their antibacterial, antioxidant, and intestinal barrier protective effects both in vitro and in vivo . Cu-CR-CDs exhibited a uniform spherical morphology with an average diameter of 3.48 nm, and copper incorporation markedly enhanced its free radical scavenging capacity and conferred with multiple enzyme-like activities, including peroxidase-, superoxide dismutase-, and glutathione peroxidase-like activities. Compared with CR-CDs, Cu-CR-CDs demonstrated significantly enhanced antibacterial activity against E. coli , primarily by disruption of bacterial membrane integrity, increasing permeability, inducing leakage of intracellular biomolecules, inhibiting biofilm formation, and promoting intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. In vitro experiments showed that Cu-CR-CDs effectively protected RAW264.7 macrophages and Caco-2 epithelial cells from H 2 O 2 -induced oxidative stress and lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory injury through scavenging intracellular ROS, suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and restoring tight junction protein expression. In vivo , oral administration of Cu-CR-CDs markedly alleviated E. coli –induced diarrhea in mice, reduced intestinal mucosal damage, restored villus structure, mitigated epithelial barrier function, and attenuated systemic inflammation. Moreover, Cu-CR-CDs reshaped gut microbiota composition by decreasing the relative abundance of harmful bacteria (e.g., Proteobacteria, Deferribacteres, and Desulfovibrio ) while increasing beneficial taxa such as Muribaculum, Prevotellaceae, and Akkermansia . Collectively, these results demonstrate that Cu-CR-CDs, as a multifunctional nanozyme with superior performance over CR-CDs, exhibiting potent antibacterial and therapeutic effects against enteric infections, thereby highlighting their potential as a promising nanotherapeutic strategy for the treatment of bacterial diarrhea.

Noble-metal-free CuMo nanoparticles (NPs) without surfactant or support have been facilely prepared using NaBH4 as a reducing agent. The as-prepared CuMo nanocatalysts were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high resolution
transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area measurements, and used as catalysts for the hydrolysis
of ammonia borane (AB, NH3BH3) at room temperature. The as-synthesized Cu0.9Mo0.1 NPs exhibited a high activity towards the hydrolysis of AB with a turnover frequency (TOF) of 14.9 min-1, a higher value than that reported for Cu catalysts.
Our synthesis is not limited to CuMo NPs alone, but can easily be extended to CuW (3.6 min-1), CuCr (2 min-1), NiMo (55.6 min-1), and CoMo (21.7 min-1) NPs, providing a general approach to Cu-M (M = Mo, W, Cr) and TM-Mo (TM = Cu, Ni, Co) NPs as a
series of novel catalysts for the hydrolysis of AB. The enhanced activity of bimetallic NPs may be attributed to the synergistic effects of the Cu-M NPs induced by the strain and ligand effects.
