In this work, a novel Cu–UiO-66/wood composite was successfully fabricated by a facile in situ growth strategy, and the influence of Cu–UiO-66 metal-organic framework (MOF) loading on the wood substrate thermal stability and flame retardancy were investigated. Scanning electron microscopy images indicated that the octahedral Cu–UiO-66 microparticles were uniformly and firmly decorated on the lumen surface within the balsa wood scaffold. The incorporation of only 6.5 wt% Cu–UiO-66 MOF remarkably enhanced the thermal stability and flame retardancy of the natural wood. Compared with the untreated wood, the peak heat release rate of the Cu–UiO-66/wood composite exhibited a drastic decline by 73.1% from 94.5 to 25.4 W·g−1 and the total heat release from 7.7 to 5 kJ·g−1. Meanwhile, the treated wood had a strong self-extinguishing ability and the char residue rate of the Cu–UiO-66/wood is significantly increased by 132.7%. Therefore, this work provided an effective means of achieving the fire safety wood via introducing and constructing Cu–UiO-66 MOF flame retardants material.

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a key serum tumor marker which is overexpressed in all types of adenocarcinomas. Therefore, establish the ultrasensitive, accurate and rapid method for CEA detection is essential for reducing the mortality of cancer. Here, a bimetallic organic framework Cu/UiO-66 was synthesized through the simple two-step hydrothermal method and used to construct a “fluorescence turn-on” analytical method for CEA detection. Cu/UiO-66 can adsorb CEA aptamers modified with FAM (CEA/FAM-Apt) and take place photoinduced electron transfer (PET) between Cu/UiO-66 and FAM, resulting in the fluorescence of the FAM is quenched. When CEA is present, CEA and CEA/FAM-Apt are tightly combined, making CEA/FAM-Apt far away from the Cu/UiO-66 surface. As a result, the fluorescence intensity of the system was significantly restored. Under optimal conditions, the proposed “fluorescence turn-on” method can detect CEA as low as 0.01 ng mL −1 in a range of 0.01–0.3 ng mL −1 . Besides, this analytical method owns good selectivity , reproducibility and serum applicability, which provides a new platform for the direct detection of clinical diagnosis-related markers.

Nonthermal plasma (NTP) offers the potential for converting CH4 with CO2 into liquid products under mild conditions, but controlling liquid selectivity and manipulating intermediate species remain significant challenges. Here, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the Cu/UiO-66-NH2 catalyst in promising the conversion of CH4 and CO2 into oxygenates within a dielectric barrier discharge NTP reactor under ambient conditions. The 10% Cu/UiO-66-NH2 catalyst achieved an impressive 53.4% overall liquid selectivity, with C2+ oxygenates accounting for ∼60.8% of the total liquid products. In situ plasma-coupled Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) suggests that Cu facilitates the cleavage of surface adsorbed COOH species (*COOH), generating *CO and enabling its migration to the surface of Cu particles. This surface-bound *CO then undergoes C–C coupling and hydrogenation, leading to ethanol production. Further analysis using CO diffuse reflection FTIR and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy indicates that in situ generated surface *CO is more effective than gas-phase CO (g) in promoting C–C coupling and C2+ liquid formation. This work provides valuable mechanistic insights into C–C coupling and C2+ liquid production during plasma-catalytic CO2 oxidation of CH4 under ambient conditions. These findings hold broader implications for the rational design of more efficient catalysts for this reaction, paving the way for advancements in sustainable fuel and chemical production.

A novel heterogeneous Fenton catalyst of Cu-UiO-66 metal-organic framework (MOF) was developed for catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) of wastewater containing the concentrated 4-chlorophenol. Cu-UiO-66 was characterized comprehensively using XRD , N 2 adsorption-desorption, SEM-EDS, TEM , H 2 -TPR and XPS analysis to reveal its physical and chemical properties. Specifically, XPS results indicated the interaction of Cu species with framework Zr element, and H 2 -TPR further proved the existence of CuO active component and thermal stability of the synthesized catalysts. The Cu-UiO-66 catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic activity in the CWPO of 4-chlorophenol wastewater (1,000 to 5,000 mg/L) with conversions of 98% achieved in 20 min and complete degradation in 40 min. Based on the detailed HPLC analysis of the reaction media, mechanistic study of the CWPO of 4-chlorophenol was performed.
