Catalytic methanolysis of ammonia borane is an integrated hydrogen production/storage technology with bright prospects, while its wide application is impeded by the high-cost of catalysts. In this work, hollow core@shell structured (HCSS) Co 3 O 4 @CuO-NiO with a size of 300–500 nm and a shell thickness of ca. 100 nm has been designed for ammonia borane (NH 3 BH 3 ) methanolysis for rapid hydrogen release. The possible formation mechanism of HCSS-Co 3 O 4 @CuO-NiO is proposed based on a series of characterization results, which is crucial for the design and preparation of nanocatalysts with similar architectures. Benefiting from the optimized compositions and electronic structures, the best HCSS-Co 3 O 4 @CuO-NiO sample exhibits high catalytic activity in NH 3 BH 3 methanolysis with a turnover frequency of 67.1 min −1 , surpassing that of all the noble-metal-free catalysts in previous reports. A possible reaction mechanism of NH 3 BH 3 methanolysis is put forward based on the in-situ Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) characterization and kinetic isotope effect (KIE) experimental results. This work supplies a novel avenue for developing cheap and robust catalysts towards NH 3 BH 3 methanolysis by tailoring the catalysts’ morphology to hollow core@shell structures.
As a major greenhouse gas, the rational conversion and utilization of CO 2 can help reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the greenhouse effect. In this study, mesoporous SiO 2 as a carrier, with CuO and NiO employed to construct a binary metal composite silica-based catalyst, coupled with dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma, for the conversion of CO 2 . Physicochemical analysis confirmed the successful introduction of CuO into the mesoporous SiO 2 . NiO and CuO bimetals were dispersed on SiO 2 surfaces with large specific surface areas, ensuring an optimal distribution of metal oxide. Gas chromatography was utilized to investigate the performance of DBD-coupled x%CuO-3 %NiO/Si for CO 2 conversion. The results indicated that the CuO-NiO binary composite silica catalysts significantly improved CO 2 conversion, CO yield, and energy efficiency compared to the monometallic 3 %NiO/Si materials. Further microstructural analysis of the 9 %CuO-3 %NiO/Si catalyst revealed near-elliptic particles with dimensions of 200 by 500 nm and a large number of irregular fine particles attached to the surface. When the CuO loading reached an optimal level and the input power was set at 30 W, the energy efficiency of the 9 %CuO-3 %NiO/Si catalyst increased by 119.6 %. The CuO-NiO binary composite Si-based catalyst developed in this study boasts simple operation and environmental friendliness, making it highly significant for CO 2 treatment.

Novel CuO/NiO NFs with 3D porous heterojunction via electrospinning-calcination • High sensitivity (410.69μAmM −1 cm −2 ),low LOD (0.94 μM),wide linear range (10 μM-10 mM) • Synergistic catalysis by Cu 2+ /Cu 3+ and Ni 2+ /Ni 3+ redox couples with interfacial coupling • Excellent selectivity, reproducibility (RSD < 1.4%),stability (89.5% retention over 14d) • Multi-scale characterization confirms structure-performance correlation Diabetes, a globally prevalent chronic metabolic disorder, requires precise and rapid blood glucose monitoring for effective management. Addressing the bottlenecks of high cost and poor stability associated with enzyme-based sensors, as well as the limited performance of existing non-enzymatic sensors, this study successfully prepared CuO/NiO composite nanofibers (CuO/NiO NFs) via an integrated electrospinning-calcination strategy. The electrochemical performance of the material for non-enzymatic glucose detection was systematically evaluated. Results indicate that the CuO/NiO NFs-300 material, obtained under optimized calcination conditions at 300 °C, possesses a three-dimensional (3D) porous network structure, CuO/NiO heterointerfaces, and abundant surface oxygen vacancies. These features collectively induce a synergistic enhancement through geometric and electronic effects. The constructed sensor demonstrated outstanding comprehensive performance: a high sensitivity of 410.69 μA mM −1 cm −2 , a low detection limit of 0.94 μM, a wide linear range from 10 μM to 10 mM, along with high selectivity, excellent reproducibility, and long-term stability. Performance comparison reveals that this work achieves an order-of-magnitude improvement in sensitivity across a wide linear range, overcoming the common limitation in existing technologies where facile preparation and high performance are difficult to reconcile. Crucially, it maintained high accuracy (average recovery rate of 99.1%) in spike-recovery tests using a commercial functional beverages as a complex real-world sample, highlighting its strong potential for practical analytical applications.
