Machine vision systems face significant challenges in accurately extracting critical features from dim objects under complex scenarios. Here, we demonstrate a ferroelectric-configured weight-reconfigurable photovoltaic device array for in-sensor dynamic computing, enabling robust recognition of dim objects. A series of 2D perovskite ferroelectric nanoplates with controllable size, high crystallinity, and excellent yield are directly synthesized. Reconfigurable and nonvolatile photovoltaics in a graphene/ferroelectric/graphene heterostructure are modulated through switchable ferroelectric polarization. Leveraging the ferroelectric-configured photoresponsivity, a convolution kernel optoelectronic sensor array with dynamic correlation of adjacent units is designed for in-sensor dynamic computing. Compared with traditional static optoelectronic convolution processing, our approach selectively amplifies subtle differences of local image pixels, enabling effective edge feature extraction even in low-contrast scenes. Integrated with a convolutional neural network, the system significantly enhances the robustness and accuracy of dim object detection, offering a promising platform for advanced machine vision applications.

Bacterial infections of plants are widespread and highly virulent, causing serious economic losses in agricultural production worldwide. These infections become particularly prevalent during rainy weather, characterized by high humidity and low light intensity (about 2–10% of a sunny day). Here we identified a class of photosensitizers that were effective in inhibiting plant bacterial infections under rainy weather with dim light. One of these compounds, compound 1 , demonstrated exceptional efficacy by eliminating more than 4 logs (99.99%) of either Xanthomonas perforans or Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (Xcc) strain at a concentration of 6.25 μM under rainy weather conditions with a light exposure of 28.51 J/cm 2 . For Clavibacter michiganensis ( Cm ), compound 1 demonstrated a comparable bactericidal effect at a lower concentration of 3.13 μM. Furthermore, compound 1 was effective in controlling plant leaf infections during rainy weather. Moreover, compound 1 exhibited a potent inhibitory effect on the biofilms pertinent to tomato spot disease and citrus canker under natural illumination on rainy days. Additionally, compound 1 displayed remarkable resilience to rain-wash on plant leaves, retaining 41.20% of its initial concentration following exposure to three simulated rain events. These findings provide a new strategy for plant pathogen disease management highlight its feasibility even during rainy weather.

Cruciferous vegetables (CVs) are globally consumed with some health benefits believed to arise from indole-3-carbinol (I3C), a labile phytochemical liberated from indole glucosinolates, but few reports describe the effect of cooking on I3C reactions. Here, we present heat-promoted direct conversions of I3C in broccoli florets into indole derivatives, which are unique in the N -indolylmethylation and -hydroxymethylation of indole nuclei by 3-methyleneindole and formaldehyde formed in situ from the I3C dehydration and the dimerization of I3C to 3,3′-diindolylmethane (DIM), respectively. Such N -substituted indoles were found in a range of 0.4–4.6 μg per gram of steamed broccoli florets, with a novel compound N -(indol-3-ylmethyl)-3,3′-diindolylmethane (DIM-1) bio-evaluated to inhibit A375 cells with an IC 50 value of 1.87 μM. In aggregation, the investigation discloses the promoting effect of heating on the I3C transformation in CVs and identifies DIM-1 as an anti-cancer drug candidate, and thus updates the knowledge of I3C and bioactive derivatives thereof.

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor. In lung cancer, AHR activation stimulates cancer cell proliferation and promotes tissue invasion and metastasis, and targeting the AHR pathway is an effective way to prevent and treat lung cancer. In lung cancer, AHR binds to the NRF2 promoter region to promote carcinogenesis, but treatment research based on AHR/NRF2 pathway is insufficient. 3,3′-diindolylmethane (DIM), an active phytochemical derivative extracted from cruciferous vegetables, is a modulator of AHR. In this study, We investigated the medicinal value of DIM in NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) by in vivo and in vitro experiments and explored the underlying mechanisms. In vitro studies showed that DIM inhibited the viability of NSCLC and induced apoptosis and cycle arrest in cancer cells. DIM inhibited the migration and invasion of NSCLC cells by reversing the epithelial-mesenchymal transition. DIM induced ferroptosis in NSCLC cells; increased cellular Fe 2+ , ROS (reactive oxygen species), and MDA; decreased cellular GSH, AHR, NRF2, and GPX4; and disrupted the mitochondrial membrane potential. The effect of DIM-induced ferroptosis can be reversed by the AHR receptor antagonist CH-223191, ferroptosis inhibitor Fer-1, and ROS scavenger NAC. Overexpression of NRF2 reversed DIM-induced ferroptosis. Identical results were obtained in a nude mouse xenograft model. In summary, we have confirmed that DIM has significant potential in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. DIM induces cancer cell ferroptosis through the AHR/NRF2/GPX4 axis. These findings provide experimental basis for DIM treatment and future clinical research in non-small cell lung cancer.
