An aqueous dispersion of carbon black is crucial in industrial coatings. In this manuscript, a hyperdispersant IBOMA-MPEGA-DMAM (IMD) has been synthesized using isobornyl methacrylate (IBOMA), polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether acrylate (MPEGA), and N, N -dimethyl acrylamide (DMAM) as monomers via a free radical polymerization method, which is used to improve the dispersibility of an aqueous dispersion system of carbon black. The molecular structure and performance stability of IMD were investigated through comprehensive characterizations of FTIR, GPC, particle size distribution and TEM. When the molar ratio of the monomers IBOMA:MEPGA:DMAM is 5.5:8.3:9.7, the obtained hyperdispersant shows good dispersibility. When the optimal dosage of dispersant IMD was 8%, the viscosity of carbon black slurry was as low as 18.6 mPa·s and the average particle size of carbon black was 275 nm. Furthermore, the stability of the prepared carbon black slurry was better than that of the two commercial dispersants.

Composite solid electrolytes (CSEs) containing polymer matrices and inorganic fillers hold promise for the next generation of solid-state batteries. However, the role of residual solvents in CSEs remains controversial. This study investigated the evolution and function of the residual solvent in a polymer-Li 2 B 12 H 12 CSE. A partial reaction occurred between Li 2 B 12 H 12 and solvent N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF), which produced dimethylaminomethanol (DMAM) in the CSE. Density functional theory calculations have revealed that DMAM forms stronger hydrogen bonds with polyvinylidene fluoride chains than DMF, which can have a plasticizing effect on the polymer matrix, leading to lower crystallinity and quicker segment motion. Therefore, this CSE exhibited improved Li-ion conducting properties, enabling the stable cycling of Li||LiFePO 4 solid-state batteries. This study provided insights into the role of residual solvents in CSEs.
Tribrachia star-shaped random copolymers with tunable thermosensitive phase transition temperature were designed and synthesized via a simple one-pot ammonolysis reaction approach with trimesic acid as cores. The self-assembly micellization behavior of the copolymers in aqueous solution was examined by surface tension, UV–vis transmittance, transmission electron microscope, and dynamic light scattering measurements, etc. The results indicated that the resultant copolymers formed thermosensitive micelle aggregates through hydrophobic interactions among the isopropyl groups of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) PNIPAM chains and inter-star association at a polymer concentration above critical aggregation concentrations from 4.06 to 6.55 mg L−1, with a cloud point range from 36.6℃ to 52.1℃, and homogeneously distributed micelle size below 200 nm. The arm length and the compositional ratios of the two comonomers had effect on physicochemical properties of the polymer micelle aggregates. Particularly, the cloud point values were enhanced as the (N,N-dimethylacrylamide) DMAM monomer was introduced and reached to 36.6℃ and 41.0℃–44.7℃ when the mass ratio of NIPAM to DMAM was 90:10 and 80:20, respectively. The thermo-triggered drug release and cytotoxicity were evaluated to confirm the applicability of the random copolymer micelle aggregates as novel drug targeted release carriers.
