Spinel LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 (LNMO) cathode with high voltage plateau at around 4.7 V (vs. Li/Li + ) has attracted great attention. However, the lack of suitable electrolyte hinders its application. Although lithium difluoro(oxalate)borate (LiODFB)-based electrolyte has been proved to be suitable for high voltage electrolyte, traditional LiODFB-based electrolyte has poor low and high temperature performance. Therefore, we confirm that lithium difluorophosphate (LiPO 2 F 2 , LiDFP) as LiODFB-based electrolyte additive and dimethyl sulfite (DMS) as co-solvent significantly improve electrochemical performance of LNMO/Graphite full batteries at low and high temperature. Various physical and electrochemical techniques are used to investigate the effect of four electrolytes. The effect on cathode is mainly attributed to priority oxidation decomposition of LiDFP. The formed interface film can inhibit the dissolution of Mn 2+ , thereby improving the high temperature electrochemical performance. The effect on anode is that the interface film formed by LiODFB prevents continuous reduction of solvents and additive. The enhanced low temperature performance is due to the significantly increased ionic conductivity of DMS-containing electrolytes at low temperature. Besides, the formed of the cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) membrane with low impedance by LiDFP can improve the kinetics of cathode/electrolyte interface, therefore enhancing the low and high temperature performance of LNMO/Graphite full cells.

DMS gradient improves micropore access and O₂ transport, reducing flooding. • CB-DV06 yields 750 mg L −1 H₂O₂ at >60% Electro-Fenton efficiency. • DMS-modified GDEs remove 85% RBB and reduce TOC 60% in 120 min. • Surface area reaches 222.9 m 2 /g; electroactive sites increase sixfold. • Dual-phase oxygen diffusion boosts ORR kinetics and degradation rate. Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) electrosynthesis via the two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e − ORR) is critically dependent on the formation of stable and well-regulated triple-phase interfaces (TPIs), where gas, liquid, and catalyst converge. However, micropore flooding and uneven wettability in carbon-black gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) often hinder oxygen transport and deactivate active sites. In this work, we address these challenges by introducing a dimethyl silicone oil (DMS) volume-gradient strategy to engineer confined TPIs within the carbon catalyst layer. Carbon-black GDEs were prepared using DMS volume-controlled of 0.4, 0.6, and 1.2 mL, with CB-DV06 identified as the optimum configuration. This design balances hydrophobicity and pore accessibility, promoting sustained oxygen diffusion and suppressing water blockage without impeding electron or ion transport. The optimized GDE (CB-DV06) achieved ~750 mg L −1 H₂O₂ after 180 min with current efficiencies exceeding 60% and enhanced electrochemically active surface area. To demonstrate the practical applicability of the in situ generated H₂O₂, Reactive Black B (RBB) degradation was employed as a model pollutant-removal reaction. The integrated system achieved approximately 85% RBB decolourisation, demonstrating the applicability of this interface-engineering strategy for pollutant-removal applications. Overall, this study highlights a low-impact approach for optimizing oxygen reduction environments in porous electrodes, advancing sustainable oxidant generation and environmental remediation. A microphase-separated block copolymer enables resilient BTO-based composites. • PS-rich rigid nanodomains promote stress dispersion in the composite. • Reduced hysteresis and improved cyclic compression stability are achieved. • 98.4% response retention and intact interface remain after 10,000 cycles at 100 N. Stable mechano-electric response under repeated contact and compression is in high demand for resilient piezoelectric composites used in embodied intelligence and human-machine interfaces. Such composites are commonly fabricated by dispersing high-performance ceramic fillers into elastomeric matrices. However, stable mechano-electric response relies on efficient and durable stress transfer from the soft matrix to the piezoelectric phase, which is hindered by the stiffness disparity, often approaching five orders of magnitude, between rigid ceramic fillers and MPa-level soft elastomers. The soft matrix dissipates mechanical energy through viscoelastic deformation, while the abrupt ceramic-elastomer stiffness transition leads to interfacial stress concentration and unfavorable stress localization. Herein, we develop a microphase-separated block copolymer matrix, crosslinked PS- b -P(DMS- stat -VMS) (CroPSDV), loaded with barium titanate (BTO) nanoparticles. Microphase separation in CroPSDV produces PS-rich rigid nanodomains within a soft polysiloxane-rich matrix, forming a mechanically heterogeneous architecture that may facilitate local stress redistribution and mitigate stress concentration around BTO nanoparticles while buffering the ceramic-elastomer stiffness contrast. Together with in situ thiol-ene crosslinking, this architecture structurally encapsulates and confines BTO nanoparticles, reduces hysteresis loss, and stabilizes cyclic compression behavior. The BTO/CroPSDV composite retains stable mechano-electric output over 10,000 compression cycles at 100 N, with an output retention of 98.4% and without obvious matrix-filler interfacial damage after cycling. It also exhibits sensitive and rapid mechano-electric response, with a detection limit of 1 N and a response time of 43 ms. This work presents a mechanically active matrix-design strategy for resilient piezoelectric composites for stress dispersion and cyclic interfacial stability. Water flooding in the microporous cathode is poisonous but inevitable for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in electro-Fenton (EF) processes. To meet this challenge, a facile modification was reported to stabilize performance of cathode through the infiltration process, which selecting superior CB-PTFE electrode as backbone and dimethyl silicon oil (DMS) as maturation layer. Characterized by FE-SEM, EDS, BET, XRD, the matured cathode was proved to be wrapped uniformly by DMS. Electrochemical performances of cathodes were evaluated by CA , CV , EIS and CP measurements in oxygen “starvation” condition. These results proved that the maturation layer improved the electrocatalysis on 2 e − ORR, the service lifetime from 1.68 h to 18.34 h, the working range of current density from 70 to 110 A m −2 and reduced the oxygen diffusion resistance from 74.23 to 8.07 Ω. Besides, H 2 O 2 generation and oxygen utilization of 2%DMS cathode respectively reached 126.7 mg L −1 and 83.49% in 60 min, which were rarely influenced by pH and aeration rate even after water flooding process. 2%DMS layer served as the accelerated oxygen transport channel can explain the enhanced oxygen transport. The simulated contaminated solution containing a fungicide-flutriafol (FTF) was obtained 100% removal in about 40 min and 48.88% TOC removal in 2 h. The lifetime tests revealed much more stable decay of FTF under the broader operational condition.

Although suspension array technology (SAT), which uses encoded microspheres , provides high-quality results with versatile applicability for information-intensive bioanalytic applications, current encoding strategies limit the number of codes that can be distinguished. In this paper, we introduce density-encoded hydrogel microcarriers (DMs), which employ the intrinsic density property of biomaterials as a high-capacity coding dimension. Two hydrogel monomers were employed at different ratios to synthesize microgels with distinctive densities. DMs not only can be simultaneously decoded and separated using density gradient centrifugation, but also are compatible with flow cytometry detection. The size and color of DMs have been used as extra coding parameters, to construct an 8 × 2 × 4 (density × size × color) three-dimensionally encoded hydrogel microcarrier library. With aptamer-functionalized DMs (ADMs), we developed a 4-plex protein quantification method for the label-free detection of plasma biomarkers with sub-nanomolar detection limits and good linearities. Moreover, ADMs can be used for label-free naked-eye detection of tumor-derived exosomes. We believe that the simplicity and functionality of DMs will advance the field of suspension arrays and inspire the development of DM-based diagnostic applications.

The magnetic excitons in diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) have varied formats due to the inhomogeneous phases out of doping concentration and/or structural relaxations or defects. Here the high quality cobalt-doped zinc blende ZnSe nanoribbons (NRs) were synthesized, showing bright and color-variable emissions from blue, yellow to a little mixed white colors. Their power and temperature dependent micro-photoluminescence (PL) spectra have been obtained in which two emission bands, one magnetic exciton band near the band-edge and a Co2+ high-level d–d transition emission band at 550 nm out of their ferromagnetic (FM) coupled aggregates in ZnSe lattice, both bands could also be reflected by a nonlinear optical absorption enhancement. The easy formed stacking fault defects in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) grown ZnSe zincblende NR took part in the above optical processes out of magnetic polaronic excitons (PXs). The femtosecond (fs) laser pulse pumping on single ZnSe:Co NR produces obvious lasing behavior but with profile of a complicated magnetic exciton interactions with indication of a crossover from collective exciton magnetic polarons (EMP) to bound magnetic polaron (BMP) scattering in Co doped ZnSe NR. These findings indicate the complication of the magnetic coupling natures in varied DMS structures, whose optical properties have been found to be highly nonlinear, due to the involvement of the spin–spin, spin–exciton and spin–phonon interactions, verified by the theoretic calculation in Yang X-T et al (2019 Interstitial Zn-modulated ferromagnetism in Co-doped ZnSe Mater. Res. Express 6 106121).
