The regulatory mechanism of strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) is of great significance in improving the electrocatalytic performance for supported electrocatalysts. Here, PtNi alloy nanoparticles were deposited on N, F-codoped graphene-like carbon nanosheets (PtNi@NFGC) to construct a highly active interface for efficient methanol oxidation reaction (MOR), which solves the problems of high cost, poor activity and easy aggregation of Pt-based catalysts. Due to the high electrophilicity, F atoms doping into the carbon lattice can not only manipulate the electron structure and the state of the carbon skeleton, but also further trigger the stronger charge transfer between metal atoms and carbon support. Compared with single-doped PtNi@NGC, N, F-codoped PtNi@NFGC possesses a lower onset potential and methanol oxidation potential, higher methanol oxidation current and stronger CO tolerance. The results of the partial density of state (PDOS) simulation display that N, F-codoping promotes the electron transfer from Pt atoms to NFGC support, and leads to the d-band center shift upward, thus strengthening the oxidation degree of Pt active sites and increasing the composition of high-valent Pt x+ . In-situ Raman analysis and density functional theory (DFT) results expound that F atoms embedding observably enhances the adsorption energy of Pt active centers to *OH intermediates, which not only significantly improves MOR catalytic activity, but also achieves efficient methanol dehydrogenation and alleviates CO poisoning. This customization of metal-support interface interaction by heteroatom doping strategy opens up opportunities for designing efficient supported catalysts.

Due to its excellent bone conductivity and drug adsorption as well as pH-responsive drug release property, hydroxyapatite (HAp) is widely used as a drug carrier in bone repair field. Here, we report for the first time a novel multi-functional polydopamine (PDA) coated Cu/F-codoped HAp (Cu/F-HAp-PDA) hollow microspheres . Both Cu 2+ and F - were successfully doped into the lattice of HAp and uniformly distributed in the shell of hollow microspheres through a one-step hydrothermal synthesis . Then PDA was coated homogeneously on the outer layer of Cu/F-HAp hollow microspheres. Both Cu/F-HAp and Cu/F-HAp-PDA samples displayed high drug loading efficiency and pH responsive drug release behavior. Moreover, the obtained Cu/F-HAp-PDA hollow microspheres exhibited excellent photothermal conversion efficiency and photothermal stability. The molecular dynamics simulations showed that PDA and HAp can form mutual binding mainly through Ca-O bonding, while doxorubicin (DOX) is mainly bound to PDA molecules through hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking interaction.

Mg 2+ /F − co-doped LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 cathode material was synthesized by a facile one-step solid-state process. The effect of Mg 2+ /F − co-doping on grain morphology, phase structure, and electrochemical properties was studied by a series of characterizations. Scanning-electron-microscopy images show that Mg 2+ /F − co-doped LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 (denoted LNMO-MF) particles grow larger than pure LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 particles. X-ray diffraction, Raman spectra , Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy , X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and cyclic-voltammetry tests indicate that all samples mainly display a Fd -3m space group and more Mn 3+ ions in the LNMO-MF sample after Mg 2+ /F − co-doping, which is conducive to increasing the cationic disorder degree and enhancing the electronic conductivity of electrode material. Results show that the LNMO-MF cathode material delivers an excellent rate performance with discharge capacities of 142, 144, 140 136, 132, 124, 115, and 100 mAh g −1 at 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 10C (1C = 140 mAh g −1 ), respectively. Remarkably, LNMO-MF also shows cycling stability with a capacity retention of 86.2% at 5C after 400 cycles, which is much higher than that of pure LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 (67.7%). The improvement of LNMO-MF's electrochemical properties could be ascribed to the Mg 2+ /F − co-doping, delivering a more stable structure, better crystallinity , the highest Li + diffusion coefficient , and the lowest charge-transfer resistance.

The luminescent hydroxyapatite nanorods co-doped with Eu 3+ and F − (named as FAp:Eu 3+ ) were synthesized through liquid-solid-solution strategy to control their size and morphology as well as improve their fluorescence. However, these luminescent FAp:Eu 3+ nanorods are hydrophobic nature and cannot be directly used for biomedical applications. In this work, we developed a novel strategy for surface modification of FAp:Eu 3+ nanorods with the combination of the surface ligand exchange reaction and photo-initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (photo-RAFT) polymerization using the biocompatible and hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEGMA) as the monomer. We demonstrated that the photo-RAFT polymerization is a facile and efficient route to fabricate hydrophilic FAp:Eu 3+ -polyPEGMA composites based on a series of characterization techniques. The FAp:Eu 3+ -polyPEGMA composites still well maintained the morphology and luminescent properties. Furthermore, the resultant FAp:Eu 3+ -polyPEGMA composites showed low cytotoxicity and desirable cell uptake behavior. These features suggested that the FAp:Eu 3+ -polyPEGMA composites are of great potential for biological imaging applications. More importantly, the photo-RAFT polymerization should be promising for preparation of many other luminescent nanocomposites owing to their advantages of photo-RAFT polymerization such as low polymerization temperature, high efficiency, absence of metal catalysts and good monomer applicability. It is therefore, the photo-RAFT could be extended for fabrication of many other multifunctional fluorescent composites for different biomedical applications.

This work focuses on the improvement on the electrochemical performances of Fe–Mn based oxides as cathode for sodium ion batteries by doping Cu and F elements. The synthesized doped-compounds exhibit extremely excellent electrochemical performance. For instance, it's initial discharge capacity can reach 195.6 mAh g −1 at a current density of 10 mA g −1 . Meanwhile, after 200 cycles at 200 mA g −1 , it still remains a capacity of 124.1 mAh g −1 , 87.8% of the initial capacity of 141.3 mAh g −1 . More significantly, it can deliver a high capacity of 106.4 mAh g −1 at a high current density of 1000 mA g −1 . It is found that F/Cu co-substitution obviously improve the discharge capacity and cycle stability of Fe–Mn based oxide especially at higher current densities. Doping Cu and F elements has influence on the structure and morphology of the material, which results in the improvement of charge-discharge characteristics.

Fibrate pharmaceuticals (fibrates), as a widespread class of emerging contaminants, pose potential risks to both ecological systems and human health. The photocatalytic system based on nitrogen (N) and fluorine (F) co-doped TiO2nanotube arrays (NF-TNAs) provides a renewable solution for fibrate pharmaceutical removal from water, powered by inexhaustible sunlight. In this study, the degradation of two typical fibrates, i.e., bezafibrate (BZF) and ciprofibrate (CPF), under simulated sunlight irradiation through NF-TNAs were investigated. The photocatalytic degradation of BZF/CPF was achieved through combined radical and non-radical oxidation processes, while the generation and reaction mechanisms of associated reactive oxygen species (ROS) were examined. Electron paramagnetic resonance detection and quenching tests confirmed the existence of h+, •OH, O2•−, and1O2, with O2•−playing the predominant role. The transformation products (TPs) of BZF/CPF were identified through high-resolution mass spectrometry analysis combined with quantum chemical calculations to elucidate the degradation pathways. The influence of co-existing ions and typical natural organic matters (NOM) on BZF/CPF degradation were also tested. Eventually, the ecological risk of BZF/CPF transformation products was assessed through quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) modeling, and the results showed that the proposed photocatalytic system can largely alleviate fibrate toxicity.

Sulfide solid-state electrolytes have garnered considerable attention owing to their notable ionic conductivity and mechanical properties. However, achieving an electrolyte characterized by both high ionic conductivity and a stable interface between the electrode and electrolyte remains challenging, impeding its widespread application. In this work, we present a novel sulfide solid-state electrolyte, Li3.04P0.96Zn0.04S3.92F0.08, prepared through a solid-phase reaction, and explore its usage in all-solid-state lithium sulfur batteries (ASSLSBs). The findings reveal that the Zn, F co-doped solid-state electrolyte exhibits an ionic conductivity of 1.23 × 10–3 S cm–1 and a low activation energy (Ea) of 9.8 kJ mol–1 at room temperature, illustrating the aliovalent co-doping’s facilitation of Li-ion migration. Furthermore, benefiting from the formation of a LiF-rich interfacial layer between the electrolyte and the Li metal anode, the Li/Li3.04P0.96Zn0.04S3.92F0.08/Li symmetrical cell exhibits critical current densities (CCDs) of up to 1 mA cm–2 and maintains excellent cycling stability. Finally, the assembled ASSLSBs exhibit an initial discharge capacity of 1295.7 mAh g–1 at a rate of 0.05 C and at room temperature. The cell maintains a capacity retention of 70.5% for more than 600 cycles at a high rate of 2 C, representing a substantial improvement compared to the cell with Li3PS4. This work provides a new idea for the design of solid-state electrolytes and ASSLSBs.

The design of non-noble metal single-atom catalysts (SACs) with superior performance for semi-hydrogenation of alkynol to alkenol is remarkable but challenging. Herein, fluorine-tuned Fe SACs supported on N, F-codoped carbon (Fe 1 -NFC) with a Fe-N 4 F 1 structure is successfully prepared via a complexation method. The axial F-doping can modulate the electronic structure of the metalloporphyrin-like active sites (Fe-N 4 ), promoting the transfer of electrons from Fe atoms to F atoms to form electron-deficient Fe δ+ species. As a result, the Fe 1 -NFC catalyst shows a remarkable activity for the semi-hydrogenation of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol to 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol under mild conditions, with a TOF of 9163 h −1 and a selectivity of 96 % at 97 % conversion, both much higher than that of the Fe SACs supported on N-doped carbon (Fe 1 -NC). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the excellent catalytic activity is attributed to the interfacial electronic effect of Fe species induced by axial F-doping, thereby enhancing the exothermic adsorption of alkynol on the Fe-N 4 F 1 structures and accelerating the desorption of alkenol to against the overhydrogenation.
