The controlled growth of Cu2S nanoarrays was constructed by a facile two-step impregnation synthesis route. The as-synthesized Cu2S/CuO@Cu samples were precisely characterized in terms of surface morphology, phase, composition, and oxidation states. At the laser irradiation of 808 nm, Cu2S/CuO@Cu heated up to 106 °C from room temperature in 120 s, resulting in an excellent photothermal conversion performance. The Cu2S/CuO@Cu exhibited excellent cycling performance—sustaining the photothermal performance during five heating-cooling cycles. The finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulation of optical absorption and electric field distributions assured the accuracy and reliability of the developed experimental conditions for acquiring the best photothermal performance of Cu2S/CuO@Cu.Keywords:Cu2S nanoparticles;photothermal;FDTD

High-curvature multi-noble metallic heterostructures can effectively enhance the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance by utilizing the synergism of tip-enhanced electric field effect and local electric field effect. Herein, we report a two-step synthesis strategy to obtain multi-branched high-curvature AgAuPt heterostructure, firstly amino acids-induced growth of Au branches on Ag nanocubes, and secondly L -AA reduction of H 2 PtCl 6 to incorporate tiny Pt nanoparticles on Au branches. The D -CAgAuPt results in a low overpotential of 38 mV to deliver a cathodic current density of 10 mA cm −2 , which is superior to commercial 20% Pt/C (46 mV). The strong electronic interactions between multi-noble metals intrinsically enhance the durability and stability of the catalysts. The intrinsic mechanism of promoting HER performance is investigated and revealed in-depth via the FDTD simulations and DFT calculations. In addition, D -CAgAuPt can also achieve efficient and stable hydrogen evolution in a proton exchange membrane electrolyzer, which has the potential for commercial practical application. This work designs a novel multi-branched high-curvature multi-noble metallic heterostructure, and fully provides insights into the generical and efficient enhancement of electrocatalytic HER performance of multi-noble metallic heterostructures.
Optical scatterer additives play a critical role in enhancing the light conversion efficiency and uniformity of quantum dot-converted light-emitting diodes (Qc-LEDs). This study investigates the impact of optical characteristics and morphology of nanoscatterer on the light conversion and extraction efficiency of Qc-LEDs. Various metal oxides and boron nitride nanoparticles and nanoplates with different diffraction index were selected to carry out the study. Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) simulation was employed to evaluate the scattering effect of various nanosphere and nanoplate scatterers on the optical performance of the Qc-LEDs. The simulation results revealed that the hybrid nanoscatterer integrates the forward-scattering from the nanosphere and backward-scattering of blue light from the nanoplate. Spectral analysis was conducted to examine the optical performance of Qc-LEDs with varying combinations and concentrations of nanoscatterers. TiO 2 nanoparticles and Al 2 O 3 nanoplates were found to be the best combination for maximal light conversion and extraction efficiency within Qc-LEDs. The results indicate an optimal light efficiency is obtained with the optimal ratio of 1:2:2 for quantum dots, TiO 2 nanoparticles, and Al 2 O 3 nanoplates. These findings reveal the relationship between optical properties, morphology, and light conversion efficiency in Qc-LEDs, highlighting the advantages of the hybrid nanoscatterers for improving optical performance of Qc-LEDs.
