Rice husk ash (RHA) has potential as a supporter of catalysts. In this research, we studied the activity and SO2tolerance of RHA-based Fe-Cu oxide in the reduction of NO by CO. Characterization methods were employed to study the properties of the catalysts and their SO2tolerance. Activity and SO2resistance were also tested at different temperatures. We recommend two catalysts with SO2resistance ability: Fe0.67Cu0.33/RHA (the highest catalytic activity) and Fe0.8Cu0.2/RHA. The NO removal rate hardly changed with the addition of SO2and was kept at about 100%. However, the CO conversion rate decreased with increasing SO2at the lower reaction temperatures, which may be due to the formation of sulfites. Fortunately, the deactivation was reversible and can be reduced with an increase in the reaction temperature. The results of our research may help promote the application of CO-SCR.Keywords:rice husk ash;Fe-Cu catalysts;NO reduction;SO2resistance;CO-SCR

Delicate design of hierarchical and porous nanoarchitectures has become a highly effective strategy to develop novel bimetallic catalyst with improved stability and catalytic performance. Herein, a core-shell hierarchical 4A zeolite/Fe@Cu Fenton-like catalyst with 4A zeolite/Fe as core components and two-dimensional Cu hydroxide nanosheets assemblies as shell structure was fabricated through a simple and scalable approach and used for phenol degradation. The results indicated that 4A zeolite/Fe@Cu bimetallic catalyst had higher catalytic activity and utilization efficiency of H 2 O 2 than that of 4A zeolite/Fe and 4A zeolite@Cu monometallic catalysts at near neutral pH. In the presence of H 2 O 2 , the 4A zeolite/Fe@Cu bimetallic catalyst could remove 95.3 % phenol after 4 h at pH 5, which was much higher than that of monometallic catalyst under the same condition. The enhanced activity of 4A zeolite/Fe@Cu was ascribed to the synergistic effect between the 4A zeolite/Fe (core) and two-dimensional Cu hydroxide nanosheets (shell). More importantly, the copper hydroxide nanosheets with open network structure on the surface of 4A zeolite/Fe@Cu improved the stability of the Fe(III) at acidic conditions, and avoided reduced catalytic efficiency of Fe(III) caused by embedding effect. This strategy provided guidance to the design of high-performance bimetallic Fenton-like catalysts.

The selective oxidation of biomass-derived carbohydrates into high-value platform chemicals represents a promising avenue for sustainable chemical production. In our work, we explored the catalytic performance of a bimetallic Fe/Cu loaded in carbon decorated with nitrogen-sulfur (Fe/Cu@NSC) in the conversion of fructose/glucose into 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF). The catalyst exhibited remarkable efficiency, particularly with fructose, achieving a peak DFF yield of 61.1% under optimized conditions. In contrast, glucose conversion proved less effective, with a maximum DFF yield of 29.1% at 160 °C for 15 h. Methodical examinations of reaction parameters, such as solvent composition, and reaction time, yielded crucial insights into the determinants of product dispersion and catalytic efficacy. Moreover, reusability evaluations demonstrated a slow reduction in catalytic activity throughout repeated cycles; yet, this negligible fall still affirms the promise of catalysts in green chemistry. In addition, the catalyst structure was evidenced by FTIR, XPS, HRTEM, SEM, BET, ICP-MS, NH 3 -TPD, EDX, elemental mapping analyses, and the thermal stability of the catalyst was evaluated by TGA. These findings underscore the potential of Fe/Cu@NSC as an effective and recyclable catalyst for DFF synthesis while highlighting the necessity for further optimization to enhance its long-term stability and performance.
