In this work, an efficient Fe 3+ adsorbent was synthesized by using the tryptamine and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na) modified polyacrylamide gel. The functional monomers synthesized by the reaction of tryptamine and methacrylic acid chloride were doped into the composition, and CMC-Na participated in the formation of the gel network. By changing different conditions, the optimal use conditions of the gel were explored. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were used to discuss the adsorption behavior. According to the fitting results, the Freundlich model was more suitable for explaining the adsorption of Fe 3+ by gels. The feasibility of its adsorption process was confirmed by the study of its kinetics and thermodynamics. As an adsorbent, tryptamine CMC-Na modified polyacrylamide gel has excellent ability to remove Fe 3+ from aqueous solutions. The maximum adsorption capacity of tryptamine and CMC-Na modified polyacrylamide gel for Fe 3+ reached 127.5 mg g −1 .

This study explored the preparation of a novel composite hydrogel based on deep eutectic solvent (DES) with lysine (Lys) and its application in pressure sensing and Fe3+ adsorption. DES was synthesized from acrylamide (AM) and urea (U) as hydrogen bond donors (HBD) with choline chloride (ChCl) as hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA), and Lys was used as a functional filler, and Lys/P(AM-U-ChCl) composite hydrogels were successfully prepared by frontal polymerization (FP) method. The structure of the hydrogels was characterized in depth using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effects of Lys content on the mechanical properties, pH-responsive behavior, pressure-sensitive properties, and Fe3+ adsorption capacity of the hydrogels were further analyzed. It was found that the introduction of Lys significantly improved the compressive and pressure-sensitive properties of the hydrogels. The composite hydrogels exhibited excellent swelling equilibrium rates at different pH values. The capacitance change of the hydrogel with 0.5 wt% Lys at 200 g pressure was 2.12-fold higher than that of the hydrogel without Lys addition, and the adsorption efficiency of the hydrogel for Fe3+ was greatly enhanced. This study provides a new idea for the functionalized design of composite hydrogels and demonstrates their great application prospects in high-performance pressure sensors and heavy metal ion adsorption.
The excessive emission of iron will pollute the environment and harm human health, so the fluorescence detection and adsorption of Fe3+are of great significance. In the field of water treatment, cellulose-based gels have attracted wide attention due to their excellent properties and environmental friendliness. If carbon dots are used as a crosslinking agent to form a gel with cellulose, it can not only improve mechanical properties but also show good biocompatibility, reactivity, and fluorescence properties. In this study, silicon-doped carbon dots/carboxymethyl cellulose gel (DCG) was successfully prepared by chemically crosslinking biomass-derived silicon-doped carbon dots with carboxymethyl cellulose. The abundant crosslinking points endow the gel with excellent mechanical properties, with a compressive strength reaching 294 kPa. In the experiment on adsorbing Fe3+, the theoretical adsorption capacity reached 125.30 mg/g. The introduction of silicon-doped carbon dots confers the gel with excellent fluorescence properties and a good selective response to Fe3+. It exhibits a good linear relationship within the concentration range of 0–100 mg/L, with a detection limit of 0.6595 mg/L. DCG appears to be a good application prospect in the adsorption and detection of Fe3+.
