An FeCeO x solid solution with an Fe/Ce molar ratio of 1 was obtained via a modified sol-gel method. The promotional effect of Fe 3+ ions in the lattice of cubic CeO 2 for catalytic reduction of NO with NH 3 was studied. The NO conversion over the FeCeO x catalyst was obviously higher than those over CeO 2 and Fe 2 O 3 catalysts. FeCeO x was characterized by using XRD , TEM, and XANES , etc. The experimental results revealed that Fe substituted Ce in CeO 2 to form an Fe–O–Ce solid solution with high activity for catalytic reduction of NO. The atomic and electric structures of the FeCeO x catalyst were studied to explain the enhanced catalytic activity.
Photothermal catalytic oxidation of cyclohexane was found to be an effective and green strategy for the production of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone (KA oil). However, such strategy existed some obstacles, which hindered its application in the one-step synthesis of adipic acid (AA), necessitating further breakthroughs. Herein, a p-n heterojunction of Fe 8 Ce 2 O x /WO 3 was constructed by a simple combination of solvothermal and impregnation methods, enabling the one-step synthesis of AA via the photothermal cyclohexane oxidation under solvent-free and visible light conditions. Remarkably, the Fe 8 Ce 2 O x /WO 3 nanocomposites exhibited outstanding catalytic performance, achieving a conversion of cyclohexane reached 9.67% with the 92.45% selectivity towards AA (solid, 59.46%) and KA oil (liquid, 32.99%). The Fe 8 Ce 2 O x /WO 3 composites also demonstrated exceptional stability in the production of AA, further highlighting its potential as a catalyst for industrial applications. The exceptional catalytic properties of Fe 8 Ce 2 O x /WO 3 composites can be attributed to the promoted electronic excitation capability, enhanced separation and migration of electron-hole, suppressed charge complexation, broaden visible-light absorption, and effective photo-thermal co-catalytic effects. Furthermore, the Fe 8 Ce 2 O x /WO 3 composites possess a strong adsorption capacity for oxygen and suitable specific surface area, which can be effectively facilitate the interaction between O 2 and cyclohexane, enabling the full utilization of oxygen in the oxidation of cyclohexane to form AA. The proposed approach offers a novel methodology for the design and fabrication of photothermal catalysts to achieve the direct synthesis of AA via the cyclohexane oxidation under solvent-free and visible light conditions in industry.
In this study, we constructed a Fenton-like system with FeCeO x nanocomposite , tea polyphenols (TP) and H 2 O 2 for the degradation of sulfamethazine (SMT). Compared with other reducing agents (RAs), the addition of TP had a strong promoting effect on SMT degradation of FeCeOx/H 2 O 2 /RAs system, then FeCeO x /H 2 O 2 /TP system could realize the complete degradation of SMT within 90 min under optimized conditions of 150 mg·L −1 of catalyst dosage, 2.12 mmol·L −1 of H 2 O 2 concentration, 115 mg·L −1 of TP dosage and 5.2 of initial pH. The main active species in FeCeO x /H 2 O 2 /TP system and their corresponding contributions to the SMT degradation were ranked as following: ∙OH (52.5%) > 1 O 2 (31.9%) > ∙O 2 - (15.6%). The reduction mechanism (heterogeneous catalysis) and chelation mechanism (homogeneous catalysis) of FeCeO x /H 2 O 2 /TP system were proposed. The addition of TP not only achieved the circulation of Fe/Ce species and the formation of oxygen vacancies on the catalyst surface, but also could accelerated the formation of various chelate structure in solution, which both contributed to the generation of active species. SMT was mineralized into CO 2 , H 2 O 2 and some short chain carboxylic acids through five degradation pathways. Finally, FeCeO x /H 2 O 2 /TP system exhibited favorable degradation rate (>90%) towards SMT after six recycling times, and it could work effectively in different water sources. This study provided a new insight into Fenton-like process for improving pollutant degradation .
