Robust spindle-structured FeP@C for high-performance alkali-ion batteries anode

Xijun Xu,Jianrui Feng,Jun Liu,Fan Lv,Renzong Hu,Fang Fang,Lichun Yang,Liuzhang Ouyang,Min Zhu

To solve the agglomeration of Fe and low electronic conductivity of FeP anode, a simple route through metal organic framework (MOF)-derived phosphorization has been successfully explored for in-situ encapsulation of FeP nanoparticles in porous carbon framework (FeP@C). The MOF-derived FeP@C anode can substantially inhibit the coarsening of small Fe, improve the electroconductivity and moderate the volume expansion of electrode, leading to superior rate capability and excellent cycling performance for Li-, Na- and K-ions storage. For example, the FeP@C anode delivers a high reversible capacity of 700 mAh g −1 at 0.1 A g −1 over 180 cycles for Li-ion batteries, displays a high reversible capacity of 387 mAh g −1 at 0.1 A g −1 over 100 cycles for Na-ion batteries and achieve a high reversible capacity of 163 mAh g −1 at 0.2 A g −1 over 100 cycles for K-ion batteries. The kinetic analysis , calculated diffusion coefficient and partial density of states (PDOS) results also confirmed this i n-situ carbon encapsulated strategy improves the conductivity of FeP particles facilitating the alkali-ion/electron's transportation.

Pt-doped FeP-C Hollow Nanorod and Hemoglobin Based Electrochemical Biosensor and Its Applications

Fan Shi,Hui Cheng,Yucen Yao,Zejun Zhang,Lina Zeng,Lin Li,Wei Sun

Sensitive detections of nitrite (NO 2 - ), hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), bromate (BrO 3 - ) and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) have very important significance in different fields. Herein, Pt-doped FeP-C hollow nanorod was fabricated by a controllable etching and in-situ carbonating procedure. Then, a modified electrode (Nafion/Hb/Pt-FeP-C/CILE) was constructed by dropping Pt-FeP-C, hemoglobin (Hb) and Nafion membrane on carbon ionic liquid electrode (CILE). Benefitting from the synergistic effects of Pt NPs and FeP-C, Pt-FeP-C provides a favorable biocompatible microenvironment for Hb attachment with enhanced catalytic performance. Electroanalysis of NO 2 - , H 2 O 2 , BrO 3 - and TCA were realized in the detection range from 0.2 to 7.0 mmol·L -1 , 0.3 to 7.0 mmol L -1 , 0.76 to 7.0 mmol·L -1 , 5.0 to 900.0 mmol L -1 , and the detection limits were 0.07 mmol L -1 , 0.1 mmol L -1 , 0.25 mmol L -1 and 1.67 mmol L -1 , respectively. The real samples were further analyzed with satisfactory results.

An Electrochemical Sensor Based On 2D Graphitic-phase Carbon Nitride Nanosheets Doped With FeP-C Nanospheres for the Detection of Cu2+ in Meat

Zhai Yajie,Shi Yingkun,Feng Yingjie,Chen Sichun,Wang Songlei

Copper ions (Cu 2+ ) are commonly present in meat and their presence has been shown to affect human health. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a rapid and sensitive method for detecting trace amounts of Cu 2+ . In this study, we developed an electrochemical sensor based on g-C 3 N 4 @FeP-C/GCE for the detection of Cu 2+ in beef and the beef liver. The incorporation of FeP-C into the g-C 3 N 4 framework enhances the catalytic performance of the sensor through strong electrostatic interactions between the positively charged metal cations in FeP-C and the negatively charged nitrogen in g-C 3 N 4 . The combination of g-C 3 N 4 (graphitic carbon nitride) and FeP-C (Fe 3 O 4 phosphorylated doped carbon) resulted in the generation of additional active sites for the sensor, further improving its catalytic performance. The morphology and internal structure of the nanocomposite were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The developed sensor exhibited sensitive Cu 2+ detection in meat, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 16.7 nM and a linear range of 0.05—150 μM. Furthermore, the method demonstrated satisfactory recoveries in beef and beef liver, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) not exceeding 5%.

Porous nitrogen-doped FeP/C nanofibers as promising anode for potassium-ion batteries

Zhang Wen,Liu Ye,Ye Zhong-qiang,Yang Min,Luo Qi,Dai Jing,Wang Qian-fu,Liu Li

Potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) are regarded as one of the alternatives to lithium-ion batteries due to the vast potassium reserves in nature and low potential of K + /K. Therefore, in this work, we successfully synthesized porous nitrogen-doped FeP/C nanofibers (P-FeP/C-N NFs), a novel electrode material for PIBs, via simple electrospinning and subsequent calcination treatment, in which polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) are used as nitrogen source and pore-forming agent, respectively. The introduction of nitrogen improves the conductivity of the material, and the formation of a porous structure increases the specific surface area. More importantly, when the P-FeP/C-N NFs were used as electrode for potassium ion batteries, they exhibit excellent electrochemical performance. The P-FeP/C-N NFs electrode exhibits a discharge capacity of 274.2 mA·h/g at 100 mA/g after 250 cycles and 171.3 mA·h/g at 1000 mA/g after 300 cycles. Even at 5000 mA/g, it displays a high discharge capacity of 150.1 mA·h/g. These findings indicate that the P-FeP/C-N NFs are expected to be a candidate of anode materials for potassium ion batteries.

Two-dimensional FeP@C nanosheets as a robust oxidase mimic for fluorescence detection of cysteine and Cu2+

Chan Song,Weiwen Zhao,Haibo Liu,Wei Ding,Linlin Zhang,Jie Wang,Yuewei Yao,Cheng Yao

In the past few years, the development of novel nanozymes with excellent performance has attracted increasing attention in biosensing. However, most of those nanozymes were found to possess peroxidase activity with the prerequisite of the presence of H2O2. In contrast, oxidase mimics can catalyze the oxidation of substrates without H2O2, delivering a higher signal-to-noise ratio than that of peroxidase mimics in practical applications. Herein, for the first time, two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets composed of iron phosphide embedded in a carbon matrix (FeP@C nanosheets) were found to demonstrate a robust oxidase-like property, different from those previously reported peroxidase mimics based on transition metal phosphides (TMPs). Based on this intriguing observation, the fluorescent substrate Amplex Red (AR) of peroxidase can be effectively oxidized by FeP@C nanosheets in the absence of H2O2. Benefiting from the oxidase-like enzymatic activity of the FeP@C nanosheets, a novel fluorescence sensing platform was developed for the detection of cysteine (Cys) and Cu2+. The outstanding performance of the 2D FeP@C nanosheets endows the proposed platform with superior sensitivity and selectivity compared to many previously reported approaches. Besides, the inherent features of simplicity, being label free, and low cost also allow this methodology to stand out among many other strategies, revealing its huge potential in practical analysis and detection applications.

The rational adjusting of proton-feeding by Pt-doped FeP/C hollow nanorod for promoting nitrogen reduction kinetics

Ying Deng,Zhenyu Xiao,Zuochao Wang,Jianping Lai,Xiaobin Liu,Dan Zhang,Yi Han,Shaoxiang Li,Wei Sun,Lei Wang

Following the guidance of nitrogenase, the natural iron-based catalysts with remarkably high activity in nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) may be a talent option to develop artificial molecular mimics. However, the electrochemical NRR process of iron-based catalysts still suffers from the high overpotential, poor lifespan, and slow reaction kinetics of the hydrogenation process. Through a controllable etching and in-situ carbonating process, a Pt-doped FeP/C hollow nanorod catalysts was fabricated. Driven by the doped Pt atom, the catalyst solves the key kinetic problem about insufficient proton feeding in the process of nitrogen reduction, and actively transfers protons to intermediates of the hydrogenation steps in NRR. Moreover, the as-prepared catalyst presents the highest NH 3 yield value of 10.22 μg h −1 cm −2 among multitudinous Fe based catalysts at lower potential of −0.05 V ( vs . RHE) with an excellent Faraday efficiency (FE) of 15.3 %, which is higher than FeP/C without the Pt-driven proton-feeding effect, and the cathodic current density presents no significant change within 50 h. In addition, the density functional theory (DFT) and Attenuated total reflection surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectrum (ATR-SEIRAS) results verify the reaction path and protons-feeding kinetic process.

Unique FeP@C with polyhedral structure in-situ coated with reduced graphene oxide as an anode material for lithium ion batteries

Yingde Huang,Rongtian Yu,Gaoqiang Mao,Wanjing Yu,Zhiying Ding,Yanbing Cao,Junchao Zheng,Dewei Chu,Hui Tong

Iron phosphide as anode material for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) attracts a lot of attention because of large theoretical capacity. Nevertheless, the inherent disadvantages of huge volume expansion and low electrical conductivity inhibit its further application. In this work, FeP@C/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) anode material with unique polyhedral structure was synthesized by a simple solvothermal and low temperature phosphiding method. Metal organic framework MIL-101(Fe) was used as the precursor and anchored on the surface of graphene oxide (GO). The organic ligand of MIL-101(Fe) was transformed to polyhedral carbon skeleton, which combined with GO to form a three-dimensional conductive network that provides efficient channels for electrons and ions, and attenuates volume expansion during the insertion/extraction of lithium ions , and avoids partial pulverization and improves cycle stability. The optimized FeP@C/rGO anode material showed a discharge capacity of 414.7 mAh g −1 at the current density of 8 A g −1 , and reached a capacity of 949.7 mAh g −1 after 100 cycles at 0.1 A g −1 ; even cycled at the current density of 1 A g −1 , it provided a capacity of 737.7 mAh g −1 after 450 cycles. In virtue of ingenious microstructure design and structural optimization, FeP@C/rGO exhibited outstanding electrochemical properties in LIBs.

Discovery of FeP/Carbon Dots Nanozymes for Enhanced Peroxidase-Like Catalytic and Antibacterial Activity

Jiaxin Dong,Guanxiong Liu,Yuri V. Petrov,Yujie Feng,Dechang Jia,Vladimir E Baulin,Aslan Yu Tsivadze,Yu Zhou,Baoqiang Li

Iron phosphide/carbon (FeP/C) serving as electrocatalysts exhibit excellent activity in oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) process. H 2 O 2 catalyzed by peroxidase (POD) is similar to the formation of new electron transfer channels and the optimization of adsorption of oxygen-containing intermediates or desorption of products in ORR process. However, it is still a challenge to discover FeP/C with enhanced POD-like catalytic activity in the electrocatalytic database for biocatalysis. The discovery of FeP/carbon dots (FeP/CDs) nanozymes driven by electrocatalytic activity for enhanced POD-like ability is demonstrated. FeP/CDs derived from CDs-Fe 3+ chelates show enhanced POD-like catalytic and antibacterial activity. FeP/CDs exhibit enhanced POD-like activities with a specific activity of 31.1 U mg −1 that is double higher than that of FeP. The antibacterial ability of FeP/CDs nanozymes with enhanced POD-like activity is 98.1%. The antibacterial rate of FeP/CDs nanozymes (250 µg mL −1 ) increased by 5%, 15%, and 36% compared with FeP, Fe 2 O 3 /CDs, and Cu 3 P/CDs nanozymes, respectively. FeP/CDs nanozymes will attract more efforts to discover or screen transition metal phosphide/C nanozymes with enhanced POD-like catalytic activity for biocatalysis in the electrocatalytic database.
