Perovskite materials are reported to be effective in peroxymonosulfate (PMS) based Fenton-like reactions, the leaching rates of chalcogenide materials in perovskite materials are however serious, thus leading to bad performance in long-term stability. In this study, an O-doped MoS 2 is synthesized to composite with LaCoO 3 , and the high catalytic activity of LaCoO 3 is well preserved with greatly decreased Co leaching. During the BPA degradation with PMS as oxidant, ∼100% degradation can be achieved in 20 min and this degradation efficiency can be maintained for ∼45 h in a simulated fixed bed reactor, which is almost 3 times longer than the pure LaCoO 3 . With the compositing of O-doped MoS 2 , the leached Co was greatly decreased and the dominated reactive oxidation species (ROS) transformed from SO 4 •– into O 2 •– with longer lifespan, thus resulting in the better stability. This study could promote the application of perovskite materials in the real industrial wastewater treatment .

In this study, a calcination and boron-doping strategy was developed to construct a metal defect-rich B@Co 1-x S catalyst for Fenton-like reaction. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation and mechanistic investigation confirmed that the enhanced Co vacancies could increase the adsorption of the terminal oxygen in the peroxymonosulfate (PMS) molecules to the surrounding Co atoms, resulting in the activation mechanism by high-valent cobalt-oxygen species (Co(IV)=O), boosting the reaction rate constant by 7.14 times. The B@Co 1-x S/PMS system possessed excellent interference resistance and renewability for efficient degradation of a wide range of contaminants. Moreover, a continuous flow reactor loaded with B@Co 1-x S was developed, which could operate continuously and stably with ciprofloxacin (CIP) removal efficiency above 97 %, proving that the system was promising for applications. Taken all together, this study delved into how to rationally develop cation-deficient transition metal catalysts in Fenton-like systems at the molecular level, which was of critical meaning for wastewater treatment.

Fenton-like reaction exhibits considerable advantages in the remediation of pollutants. To fabricate an efficient catalyst becomes an issue concerning the performance enhancement in Fenton-like reaction. Herein, S-Fe-MOF-400 which was derived from a sulfur-doped metal-organic framework (Fe-MOF), was newly prepared and exhibited high ability for H 2 O 2 activation during Fenton-like reaction. The results showed that the sulfurization effectively reduced the charge transfer resistance ( R ct ) of S-Fe-MOF-400, and facilitated the charge transfer, consequently enhancing the catalytic performance of S-Fe-MOF-400 in the Fenton-like reaction. XRD analysis revealed that FeS 2 was the predominant reactive component in S-Fe-MOF-400 with a regular cubic structure and pronounced crystallinity. Additionally, the presence of low-valent sulfur ensured the availability of Fe (II), thereby facilitating the occurrence of the Fenton reaction. Under optimal conditions, the removal efficiency of pollutants reached 86.7 % within 60 min, resulting in total organic carbon (TOC) removal efficiency at 40.6 %. Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) detections revealed that • OH, 1 O 2 , and O 2 • − synergistically participated in the Fenton-like reaction , with • OH being the primary active species. The activation process of H 2 O 2 induced by S-Fe-MOF-400 mainly yielded hydroxyl radicals and superoxide radicals. The 1 O 2 was generated through two following pathways: (i) the transformation of superoxide and hydroxyl radicals, and (ii) the conversion of natural oxygen molecules (O 2 ). This current study illustrated the significant potential for the application of sulfur-modified Fe-MOF in the Fenton-like reaction for pollutant removal.

In this study, a novel C-ZIF-8@Fe/REEs composite, fabricated from one-step pyrolysis using ZIF-8@Fe adsorbed with rare earth elements (REEs) as precursors was successfully used to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for efficient oxidation of Bisphenol A (BPA). The as-prepared C-ZIF-8@Fe/REEs exhibited high PMS activation performance, with an BPA removal efficiency exceeding 95 % within 120 min. Characterizations revealed that the REEs introduction increased the exposure of active sites, and facilitates the electron transfer. Electron paramagnetic resonance analysis and quenching tests confirmed that both radical (·OH, ·SO 4 − ) and non-radical ( 1 O 2 , high-valent metals, and electron transfer) pathways were involved in BPA degradation. Reasonable BPA degradation pathways were proposed by analyzing the results of LC-MS and DFT calculations. Additionally, toxicity assessments demonstrated a significant reduction in the toxicity of degradation products. Finally, the synthesized composite exhibited excellent reusability and stability in real wastewater fixed column bed experiments, with the removal efficiency still be higher than 70 % after 11 h operation. These findings demonstrate that the recovery REEs from mining wastewater is an effective strategy in developing a highly efficient Fenton-like catalysts, and also highlight the promising role of using C-ZIF-8@Fe/REEs in wastewater treatment, particularly for the removal of organic contaminants.
