Developing high-performance adsorbent materials featuring with all-weather service and high sorption efficiency to recover viscous crude oil spills in harsh environments is urgently required, yet it still remains an onerous challenge. Herein, a prominent Janus polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) & Ti 3 C 2 T X MXene @ polyurethane sponge (JPMPU) was exploited via a convenient anisotropic successive depositing technology. Thanks to controllable asymmetric decoration of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene/PDMS and hydrophilic components on two antithetic sides, the resulting sponges exhibited a fascinating asymmetric superwettability, rendering JPMPUs superb interfacial floating stability and overturning-resistance property. Moreover, Janus sponges displayed outstanding photothermal and Joule-heating effects. Particularly, ultrahigh temperatures of 99.5 °C and 102.1 °C were acquired for JPMPU under the sunlight intensity of 1.5 kW m −2 and the applied voltage of 10 V, respectively. On the basis of these favorable features, JPMPUs exhibited a remarkable in situ sorption capability for high-viscous crude oil spills, which can absorb >16.1 and 19.0 times its own weight of crude oil driven by the solar heat and Joule heat, respectively. Consequently, together with robust recyclability , this 3D porous Janus thermal management sponge with superior self-heating integration functionality and robust self-floating stability shows great potential for fast all-weather crude oil recovery in harsh environments.

Despite the rapid development of tissue adhesives, flaws including allergies, poor stability, and indiscriminate double-sided adhesive properties limit their application in the medical field. In this work, Janus polyurethane patches were spontaneously prepared by adjusting the difference in the functional group distribution between the top and bottom sides of the patch during emulsion drying. Consequently, poor adhesion was exhibited on the bottom surface, while the top surface can easily adhere to metals, polymers, glasses, and tissues. The difference in adhesive strength to pork skin between the two surfaces is more than 5 times. The quaternary ammonium salt and hydrophilic components on the surface of the polyurethane patch enable the rapid removal and absorption of water from the tissue surface to achieve wet adhesion. Animal experiments have demonstrated that this multifunctional Janus polyurethane patch can promote skin wound closure and healing of infected wounds. This facile and effective strategy to construct Janus polyurethane patch provides a promising method for the development of functional tissue-adhesives.

Excessive exudates around the wound often lead to severe infections and prolonged nonhealing of the wound, and various dressings have been studied to solve this medical problem. Herein, we present novel Janus polyurethane (PU) sponge dressings with anisotropic surface wettability and unidirectional liquid transportation capability for wound healing. The specific wettability dressings were fabricated by immobilized superhydrophobic silica (SiO 2 ) nanoparticles onto one surface of the superhydrophilic PU sponges with the assistance of polydopamine (PDA). Due to the draining force provided by the superhydrophilic part, the liquid could be transported unidirectionally through the superhydrophobic surface without wetting it. Based on this advantage, it was demonstrated that the Janus PU sponges could act as biomedical dressings to solve the problem of excessive wetting between the dressing and the wound, reduce the risk of infection, and accelerate the efficiency of the wound healing process. Thus, we believe that the novel Janus dressing is ideal for the management of excessive exudates around the wound and highly desirable for clinical applications.
