MXene has excellent anticorrosion and self-lubricating properties. It is widely used in the field of anticorrosion and wear resistance. However, there is a strong interaction between MXene nanosheets, which makes it easy for them to agglomerate in the coating and affects the mechanical properties of the coating. Thus, the application of MXene is limited. In this study, MXene is modified by 2,5-diaminobenzenesulfonic acid, which can reduce the aggregation of MXene in the coating. MXene is functionalized by using tetrabutylphosphorus hydroxide benzotriazole lignin composite material (BTA-P4444-Lig) with environmental protection, anticorrosion, and lubricating properties. The prepared MXene has excellent anticorrosion and lubrication properties. Functionalized MXene (f-MXene-P) is used as a filler for environmentally friendly waterborne epoxy (WEP) coatings. Electrochemical tests show that the impedance of f-MXene-P/WEP (3.91 × 107 Ω·cm2) is an order of magnitude higher than that of WEP (1.89 × 106 Ω·cm2). The maze effect of MXene and the protective film formed by BTA-P4444-Lig on the surface of Q235 steel synergistically enhance the anticorrosion performance of f-MXene-P/WEP. The friction test results show that the friction coefficient of f-MXene-P/WEP (0.068) is much lower than that of WEP (0.612). The synergistic effect of MXene and BTA-P4444-Lig with lubricating properties improves the wear resistance of f-MXene-P/WEP.

Low-concentration molecular detection is of great value in chemical analysis, environmental monitoring, biological analysis, and other trace detection fields. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is widely used in the analysis of low-concentration molecules with great potential for biological detection due to nondestructive measurement. However, detection uniformity and repeatability are challenges in the application of SERS, especially as regards ultrasensitive detection. Here, a AgNPs@LIG SERS chip with excellent sensitivity and uniformity was fabricated by electroplating Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) on a laser-induced graphene (LIG) surface prepared on a polyimide (PI) film, which realized large-scale production with controllable shape and area. Such an SERS chip features a limit of detection (LOD) of 10–14 M, an enhancement factor (EF) of 3 × 1010, and fine uniformity (∼9.6% relative standard deviation) for rhodamine 6G, benefiting from excellent local electromagnetic field enhancement generated by the gap of AgNPs and excellent performance of porous LIG. Finally, the chip was applied to the detection of melamine with the LOD of 10–9 M, which confirmed the potential application value of the SERS chip for pollutant analysis. In addition, the preparation of the composite SERS chip is simple for mass production, which provides great potential for the development of ultrasensitive SERS biosensors for various biological and chemical analyses.

This study introduces a flexible bifunctional planar micro-supercapacitor with integrated self-sensing piezoresistive capability (BPMSC-SSPC) through the development of a screen-printing ink derived from laser-induced graphene (LIG) and pseudocapacitive CuO nanoparticles. Utilizing this ink, patterned CuO/LIG electrodes are fabricated via scalable screen-printing technology, enabling the seamless integration of energy storage and pressure sensing into a single flexible platform. The resultant all-in-one device operates via a synergistic pseudocapacitive-piezoresistive mechanism, exhibiting a high areal capacitance of 6.38 mF·cm -2 , an energy density of 0.886 mWh·cm -2 , and a power density of 0.05 mW·cm -2 , alongside robust mechanical stability under deformation. Furthermore, the BPMSC-SSPC demonstrates remarkable pressure-sensing functionality, enabling precise detection of physiological signals (e.g., wrist flexion, respiration, swallowing) and facilitating advanced communication modes such as Morse code transmission. This work overcomes traditional constraints imposed by discrete energy-storage and sensing components, offering a scalable and cost-effective fabrication pathway toward multifunctional wearable systems. By bridging energy autonomy with adaptive sensing in a unified architecture, the presented platform aligns with the emerging paradigm of miniaturized, integrated, and multifunctional flexible electronics, thereby expanding the design possibilities for next-generation smart wearables and human-machine interfaces.

A label-free immunosensor based on N-doped laser direct graphene (N-LIG)/Au electrode was proposed for H1N1 influenza virus detection. By utilizing the instantaneous high temperature of laser irradiation, N atoms generated by the decomposition of melamine dripped onto the surface of LIG electrode to obtain N-LIG with higher conductivity. The doping of N atoms provides a large number of active sites for LIG microelectrodes. Combined with the electrodeposition of Au NPs, and covalently crosslinking antibodies, a simple, highly sensitive and stable immunosensing interface is constructed. The proposed H1N1 influenza virus immunosensor has a detection range of 0.01 fg mL-1 to 10 ng mL-1 with a detection limit as low as 0.004 fg mL-1. The constructed sensor has ultra-high sensitivity, good selectivity, and can be used for complex biological sample analysis, with potential application prospects in preventing the large-scale spread of influenza. Taking advantage of N-LIG electrode’s properties will provide opportunities for developing portable electrochemical biosensors for health and environmental applications.

Selective detection of phenolic compounds is imperative for environmental surveillance and public health safeguards. This study introduces a dual-electrode voltametric electronic tongue (e-tongue) leveraging transition metal oxide-nanoengineered laser-induced graphene (LIG) to resolve phenol and its cresol isomers (o-, m-, p-) despite overlapping electrochemical signals. Contrary to conventional single-electrode systems hindered by matrix-induced peak overlaps, our e-tongue employs a synergistic sensing arraying: MnO 2 /LIG and Bi 2 O 3 /LIG. These composites are fabricated via a one-step in situ laser doping process, ensuring uniform nanoparticle integration while mitigating distributional inhomogeneity and interfacial weaknesses associated with post-synthetic modifications. Both MnO 2 /LIG and Bi 2 O 3 /LIG exhibit augmented electroactive surface areas, conductivity, electron transport kinetics, hydrophilicity, and stability relative to pristine LIG. The dual-electrode system achieved robust differentiation of phenolics in buffered solutions, environmental water samples, and tobacco smoke matrices. This work pioneers a scalable nanoengineering strategy for multi-target analysis of structurally proximal pollutants, advancing point-of-need environmental monitoring technologies.

Heavy metal pollution in water, particularly Pb ion pollution, has seriously threatened human life and health. Therefore, the manufacture of efficient and sensitive heavy metal ion detection materials is essential. The objective of this study was to improve the electrochemical detection performance of laser-induced graphene (LIG) for Pb(II). Considering the excellent ion affinity and high activity of transition metals, Ni-Fe alloy coatings were prepared on the surface of LIG through jet electrodeposition. The prepared LIG and Ni-Fe/LIG were qualitatively analyzed through Raman spectrometry, X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The surface micromorphologies, charge transfer capabilities, and electrochemically active surface areas of LIG and Ni-Fe/LIG were characterized. The detection range and limit of detection (LOD) of Pb(II) for LIG and Ni-Fe /LIG as electrochemical sensors were analyzed. Results showed that compared with LIG, Ni-Fe/LIG had more surface active sites, a higher charge transfer capability, and a larger electrochemically active surface area that reached 0.828 cm2. Ni-Fe/LIG had a detection range of 20–1200 µg/L and an LOD of as low as 0.771 µg/L. Ni-Fe/LIG demonstrated a better electrochemical detection performance for Pb(II) than LIG when used as an electrochemical sensor. Keywords:Pb(II) detection;Ni-Fe/LIG;jet electrodeposition;electrochemical sensor

Among these, laser-induced graphene (LIG) exhibits high porosity, excellent conductivity, and mechanical flexibility, which can be obtained through laser irradiation of carbon-rich precursors. This article introduces a novel flexible tactile sensor based on LIG/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composites. The surface is treated with spraying SiO2 and precured Ecoflex to form superhydrophobic property with water contact angle (WCA) of 153.4°, which is suitable for underwater condition. Enhanced with deep learning algorithms, the LIG/MWCNT sensors are integrated into a data glove, enabling precise recognition of Arabic sign language gestures with accuracy of 99.34%. The data glove equipped with the sensor can communicate wirelessly with a smartphone App via Bluetooth low energy (BLE) by a low-power and secure wireless protocol. Freshwater scarcity has become a critical global issue, highlighting the urgent need for low-cost and efficient technologies for seawater desalination and wastewater purification. Inspired by the hopper-shaped corolla of the Morning Glory, which efficiently concentrates sunlight and directs water along its conical surface, we developed a paper-based solar evaporator constructed from cellulose paper via laser-induced graphene (LIG) and further modified with polydopamine (PDA) to enhance hydrophilicity. The paper substrate was folded into a three-dimensional (3D) conical structure, which enlarged the evaporation area, improved light absorption, and optimized thermal management. Under 1 sun irradiation, the optimized 3D device achieved an evaporation rate of 2.02 kg m–2 h–1 with an efficiency of 125.1%, outperforming its two-dimensional counterpart. The conical geometry also facilitated edge crystallization of salts, ensuring long-term operational stability. Outdoor tests further verified its capability for freshwater production, demonstrating the potential of this bioinspired, low-cost, and scalable paper-based evaporator for sustainable desalination and clean water generation.

Indispensable roles in personalized health monitoring and human–machine interaction are played by flexible humidity sensors. However, high costs and complex vacuum processes are often involved in current fabrication methods, thereby restricting their broader applications. In this work, a high-performance flexible capacitive humidity sensor is presented, wherein a ternary composite of graphene oxide, PEDOT:PSS, and MXene (GO-PEDOT:PSS-MXene) is loaded onto a laser-induced graphene (LIG) interdigitated electrode. A pronounced synergistic effect among the three components is systematically exploited by this multidimensional architecture to significantly optimize the overall sensing performance. Within a relative humidity range extending from 11% to 97%, a remarkable measurement sensitivity of 18,643.02 μF/%RH is recorded. Furthermore, a characteristic negative capacitive response is consistently induced by moisture-driven microstructural swelling, by which the internal interlayer spacing is increased. The continuous monitoring of human respiratory rhythms and precise non-contact spatial sensing is successfully enabled by rapid response and recovery times of 31.7 s and 11.2 s, respectively. Uniquely, a vacuum-free, synergistic multidimensional architecture is successfully utilized to achieve an ultrahigh sensitivity. Practically, a highly scalable and low-cost paradigm is established by this research for the mass deployment of future wearable electronic systems across diverse monitoring scenarios.

Detecting NH 3 in confined spaces is essential for operational safety. To address this demand, a dual-functional micro-supercapacitor (MSC) is developed by electrodepositing polyaniline (PANI) onto a laser-induced graphene (LIG) framework, followed by encapsulation with a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/H 2 SO 4 gel electrolyte prepared via an acid-assisted non-solvent induced phase separation (acid-NIPS) process. The acid-NIPS-tailored architecture provides sufficient ionic conductivity while facilitating gas transport kinetics. Finite element simulations were used to evaluate NH 3 diffusion at 40 ppm, a concentration relevant to confined-space safety monitoring. The specific deprotonation of PANI chains by NH 3 increases the electrical resistance of the composite electrode, yielding a reliable quantitative concentration-dependent response. Under extreme mechanical disturbances, the device maintains a highly stable electrical baseline without significant fluctuation in initial resistance after 12 h of ultrasonic vibration and 120° bending, confirming its robust structural integrity. Additionally, it functions as a reliable energy storage unit, delivering an areal capacitance of 246.8 mF cm −2 and retaining 95.3% of its initial capacitance after 3000 cycles under a restricted 0–0.8 V window. This work provides an integrated device architecture for simultaneous steady-state environmental monitoring and energy storage in confined operational conditions.

A Janus-structured material maintains stable electrical output under high humidity. • A flexible laser-induced graphene sensor enables fast and sensitive temperature detection. • Two-signal fusion enables 99% accurate breathing pattern recognition. Wearable respiratory monitoring systems capable of reliable operation under humid conditions are highly desirable for personalized healthcare, yet remain challenging due to moisture-induced signal instability and limited multimodal integration. Herein, we present an airflow–temperature dual-modal respiratory monitoring system (ATDM) integrated into a wearable mask for synchronized acquisition of respiratory airflow and thermal signals. The system integrates a Janus-structured triboelectric nanogenerator for airflow sensing and a flexible laser-induced graphene-based temperature sensor for thermal monitoring. The Janus structure effectively suppresses humidity-induced signal degradation, enabling stable operation even under high respiratory moisture conditions. Beyond sensing functionality, the device also exhibits efficient particulate filtration and antibacterial activity, ensuring practical wearing safety. By fusing airflow and temperature signals through a convolutional neural network model, the system achieves an overall classification accuracy of 99.17% for multiple respiratory states, including normal, slow, deep, fast breathing, and apnea. This work demonstrates a robust strategy for self-powered, humidity-resistant respiratory monitoring and highlights the potential of multimodal wearable systems for intelligent health management. Harnessing the exceptional enzyme immobilization capabilities of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and the exceptional electrochemical characteristics of graphene, we designed a highly efficient and cost-effective glucose sensor utilizing zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) and laser-induced graphene (LIG) with the aid of mediator ferrocene (Fc). By incorporating a cellulose acetate (CA) film as an anti-interference layer and a polyurethane (PU) film as a diffusion-limiting layer, the sensor exhibited a wide linear detection range for glucose (0.62 mM to 20 mM) with a low detection limit of 0.16 mM (S/N = 3). Notably, it demonstrated excellent selectivity, with no interference from common biological substances. The sensor also exhibited good stability, retaining 96.38% of its initial performance after 7 days of storage. Additionally, the sensor was effectively utilized for glucose detection in whole blood, with results closely matching those obtained from a commercial blood gas analyzer (GEM5000), as evidenced by a high Pearson's correlation coefficient (r = 0.9974). This method provides a portable glucose sensor that produces results highly consistent with those obtained from large-scale testing devices in hospitals, enabling convenient and accurate blood glucose monitoring for patients.
