The physicochemical parameters, sugars, minerals and volatile compounds were selected in current work as the crucial parameters for evaluating multifloral honeys produced by Apis cerana cerana Fabricius, Apis dorsata Fabricius and Lepidotrigona flavibasis Cockerell. A summarized physicochemical profile of multifloral honeys exhibited great variability, which was quite different from that of A. mellifera honey, regarding color (83.86–328.36 mmPfund), ash (0.30–0.34 g 100 g −1 ), soluble solid (74.72–80.41 °Brix), diastase activity (5.48–6.70 °Göthe), electrical conductivity (0.40–0.55 mS cm −1 ), free acidity (0.51–0.85 mol kg −1 ), hydroxymethylfurfural (0–39.28 mg kg −1 ), moisture (18.65–23.80%) and pH (3.73–3.95). Fructose and glucose were the major carbohydrates in Apis spp. honeys but high level of maltose was present in L. flavibasis honey. The potassium , zinc and calcium were abundant elements in multifloral honeys. The principal component analysis was applied to discriminate honeys from different bee species by cobalt, sulfur, magnesium, color, maltose, pH, free acidity, potassium, molybdenum, F/G, HMF and iron, and it was concluded that L. flavibasis honey had better quality compared to the other honeys. Moreover, the specific volatile compounds detected in A. dorsata and L. flavibasis honeys were more than A. cerana cerana honey, which could be used as the characteristic markers discriminating honey samples.

The metabolism of two stingless bee propolis revealed a high flavonoids content. • Isorhamnetin was main compound in Lepidotrigona flavibasis propolis (LFP). • Eriodictyol was main metabolite in Tetragonula gressitti propolis (TGP). • LFP exhibited stronger antioxidant activity compared to TGP. • LFP demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory potential. Propolis composition and bioactivity reflect bee species and local flora, yet comparative data from stingless bees in China are scarce. We combined physicochemical profiling, UPLC-MS/MS metabolomics, and in vitro assays to compare Tetragonula gressitti propolis (TGP) and Lepidotrigona flavibasis propolis (LFP). LFP showed higher loss on drying and beeswax fraction but lower ash content compared with TGP. We detected 768 metabolites in TGP and 841 metabolites in LFP, with species-specific enrichment of flavonoid, phenylpropanoid, and isoflavonoid pathways. Quantification revealed elevated isorhamnetin in LFP (up to 4643.75 μg/g in 70% ethanol). 70% ethanolic extracts of LFP had higher total phenolics/flavonoids, stronger antioxidant activity (ABTS IC 50 68.76 μg/mL; FRAP 199.00 μmol TE/g), and greater suppression of LPS-induced inflammation in RAW 264.7 macrophages. Although these in vitro findings require in vivo validation, they reveal pronounced chemical and functional differences between the two propolis types and highlight LFP as a rich source of bioactive compounds with potential for functional food applications. Honey is a complex food product, and has been linked to a number of substantial health advantages. The aim of this study was to assess the phenolic compounds, organic acids, microbial community, antioxidant activity, and antimicrobial activity of multifloral honeys produced by Apis cerana cerana , A. dorsata , and Lepidotrigona flavibasis in Hainan province, China. Our results illustrated that chlorogenic acid was the major phenolic component in all honeys. L. flavibasis honey showed the greatest antioxidant activity (DPPH IC 50 value, 7.66 mg/mL; FRAP value, 5217.06 µmol TE/kg), as well as the highest levels of proline (548.64 mg/kg), total flavonoid (11.67 mg QE/100 g), total phenolic (132.73 mg GAE/100 g), and Lactobacillus (96.28 %). Besides, all honeys were found to have a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. Overall, our data imply that Hainan honeys, particularly stingless bee honeys, have been beneficial components of human diets.
