MWCNT/Fe3O4/Si3N4 composite was synthesized via hydrothermal synthesis. The morphology and structure of MWCNT/Fe3O4/Si3N4 were investigated by means of SEM, XPS, XRD, and FT-IR. Their electromagnetic parameters were measured by a vector network analyzer. The microwave attenuation properties of as-synthesized composite could be modulated by regulating the feed ratio of MWCNT, Fe3O4, and Si3N4. According to the different amounts of modified nano Fe3O4 added, they are labelled as S1-S3. When the feed ratio is 3:15:20, the maximum reflection loss value of the sample is −23.3 dB at 14.4 GHz, the corresponding thickness is 2.5 mm, and the corresponding effective absorption bandwidth is 5.36 GHz. Moreover, the test results of the thermogravimetric analyzer show that the composite material has excellent heat resistance. Our research results provide a reference value for the development of excellent heat resistance and high-performance MWCNT-based microwave absorption composite materials.

High-transparent material plays a pivotal role in optical engineering, yet faces practical challenges such as susceptibility to abrasion and ultraviolet degradation. To address these issues, we propose a simple approach for obtaining a multifunctional transparent polymethyl methacrylate. In this study, MWCNT@Fe 3 O 4 was utilized as a hybrid core covalently bonded to a silane coupling agent, which was subsequently ion-exchanged with a surfactant to yield monodisperse MWCNT@Fe 3 O 4 nanofluids. These nanofluids were then blended with polymethyl methacrylate through a simple casting process, resulting in a transparent composite material with good transparency (over 85 %), low friction (coefficient of friction < 3), UV resistance (UV absorption up to 73.35 %), and antistatic properties. The MWCNT@Fe 3 O 4 nanofluids combine the benefits of liquid and solid lubricants by reducing the friction coefficient and enhancing the wear resistance of the composite material. Moreover, the fluidity of MWCNT@Fe 3 O 4 nanofluids forms an anti-friction layer during friction, thereby improving the overall anti-friction properties of the composite material. Additionally, the hybrid core enhances the anti-ultraviolet performance of the composite film while the long chain lubricating layer improves its antistatic and antifouling capabilities. By incorporating MWCNT@Fe 3 O 4 nanofluids as a filler, we have developed multifunctional transparent polymethyl methacrylate material that holds promise for advanced applications.

With the rapid advancement of 5G communications and flexible electronics, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials with multifunctionality and environmental adaptability are urgently needed. Herein, we report a sustainable and cost-effective strategy to fabricate multifunctional multilayer films incorporating kapok cellulose nanofibers, MWCNT, and Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles. Specifically, films with 3–11 layers are obtained via sequential solution deposition and vacuum filtration. The multilayer architecture enhances interfacial polarization and multiple internal reflection, yielding an EMI shielding effectiveness of 46 dB for samples with 11 layers. Meanwhile, the synergistic combination of polymeric, conductive, and magnetic components endows the film with inherent flexibility, thermal stability, and additional functionalities, including photothermal conversion (reaching up to 108 °C under 2.0 sun illumination) and a Seebeck coefficient of 56.3 μV/K. This work provides an effective approach for integrating EMI shielding with energy-related functionalities in sustainable bio-based films, offering novel insights into the design of high-performance multifunctional EMI shielding materials.

Nowadays, various high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials have enormous application potential in electronic field. However, traditional EMI shielding materials often have high conductivity, resulting in the serious mismatch between the impedance of the material surface and the free space, which will cause a large amount of reflection of electromagnetic (EM) waves, leading to secondary reflection pollution. In this paper, we report a novel flexible EMI shielding composite film with extremely low reflection loss and efficient EM wave absorption, which was prepared by assisted self-assembly based on simple vacuum filtration using carboxymethyl cellulose as the matrix and MWCNT@Fe 3 O 4 synthesized by chemical coprecipitation as the composite functional filler. By adjusting the Fe 3 O 4 coating degree of MWCNTs in the filler, the composite film achieved the construction of a conductive network with high Fe 3 O 4 content. Benefit by the good adaptability of conductivity and magnetic permeability, the composite film has good impedance matching ability and microwave absorption performance. The reflection loss of the composite film with the thickness of 28 μm in the X-band was only 0.23 dB, accounting for 1.7 % of the total loss. This work provides new insights for the development of EMI materials and effective mitigation secondary EM wave reflection pollution.

Developing wearable sensors to determine chemical contamination in solidoid is currently a great challenge. Hydrogels with polymeric networks have been employed as electrochemical cells and media to realize wearable solidoid sensing. However, it is still a hard task to enable hydrogel to simultaneously possess effective mass transfer, mechanical robustness as well as easy and tight adhesion to sensing electrodes. Routinely, a hydrogel with improved adhesion to the electrode surface by introducing additives may deteriorate the mass transfer capability. Increasing the porosity of hydrogel could enhance mass diffusion but sacrifices mechanical robustness. Herein, a composite hydrogel is achieved by embedding magnetic oriented MWCNT-Fe 3 O 4 strips in porous agarose (MMFPA), which exhibits enhanced permeability and speeding diffusion of electrolyte ions. Moreover, the orientation in order and strip-like MWCNT-Fe 3 O 4 three-dimensional composites improve the compressive strength of hydrogel, which could recover back within 2 min in water after removal of pressure. Such magnetic hydrogel is beneficial to be assembled to the wearable glove sensor by using magnets to achieve a stable and compact sensing platform. As the application example, the resultant wearable sensing protocol is successfully utilized to monitor Cd 2+ trace residues in rice, tea, and soil with an affordable response as low as 0.112 mg/kg and rapid signal acquisition (<5 min). It paves an attractive, accessible, and effective way to on-site evaluate solidoid Cd 2+ level for forewarning food safety and environmental risk.
