Triethylamine (TEA) poses severe safety hazards to industrial production and human health. To accurately detect TEA concentrations and rapidly warn of leakage, a simple reflux condensation method was deployed to successfully incorporate Zn 2+ in situ into Mo-MOFs precursor in a green, safe, and time-efficient synthesis condition. Subsequently, through calcination, MoO 3 /ZnMoO 4 -X (MMZ-X) were prepared, which exhibited an increased number of defects and enriched porosity, facilitating the access and interaction of TEA with adsorption sites. Simultaneously, rationally built in situ MoO 3 /ZnMoO 4 heterostructures accelerated carrier migration and induced a drastic resistive change. MMZ-2 demonstrated outstanding TEA sensing performance, exhibiting extremely high sensitivity ( R = 572.3, 100 ppm), along with superior selectivity, repeatability and stability, rapid response and recovery times, and a low detection limit. Moreover, the key intrinsic parameters of the heterostructure on the atomic scale were determined by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, providing a detailed elucidation of the sensing enhancement mechanism of the MoO 3 /ZnMoO 4 heterostructure. The simple and efficient synthesis method and the related mechanistic analysis pave a new path for designing high-performance TEA gas sensors with practical applications.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance of photoanode is limited by the cascade-dynamic processes, mainly including light absorption , charge separation, and surface reaction. This work adopted a strategy of nanocones modification on FTO substrate (FTO-NC) to enhance light utilization and photoelectrons collection for improved PEC water splitting . Comparative studies showed that FTO-NC enhanced the light scattering, promoting the conversion process of photon to electron/hole and enlarging the effective surface area of BiVO 4 for surface reaction. Meanwhile, cooperative Mo-doping and Co-MOF decoration improved the bulk electron transportation in BiVO 4 , hole migration towards the electrode surface , and accelerated the water oxidation reaction of photogenerated holes. The photocurrent density of FTO-NC/BiVO 4 -Mo/MOFs reached 3.56 mA cm −2 , 6.14 times that of pristine BiVO 4 . The IPCE of FTO-NC/BiVO 4 -Mo/MOFs photoanode achieve 60% at 1.23 V vs. RHE, demonstrating a significantly enhanced light utilization performance. This work presents new insight into boosting cascade-dynamic processes through collaborative strategies for highly efficient PEC water-splitting.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) seawater splitting offers a sustainable route for hydrogen production; however, it is challenged by the corrosion and sluggish kinetics of photoanodes in chloride-rich electrolytes. To overcome this, we developed a bimetallic metal-organic framework (MOFs) structure with oxygen vacancies (O V ) on TiO 2 nanorods, denoted as (DA)Ni/Mo–MOFs@TiO 2 . This photoanode achieved a high photocurrent density of 2.21 mA·cm −2 and H 2 production rate of 36.07 μmol·cm −2 ·h −1 in real seawater. Notably, it undergoes in situ reconstruction during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), forming catalytically active Ov–NiOOH accompanied by a protective MoO 4 2− layer. In situ Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) directly revealed the reconstruction process and interfacial adsorption. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further demonstrated that the reconstructed surface selectively stabilized *OH intermediates (E ad = −4.26 eV), thereby enhancing the OER selectivity and corrosion resistance. This system demonstrated exceptional stability, exhibiting minimal faradaic efficiency loss (1.2–2.3%) in high chloride ion environments (0.7–1 mol/L NaCl). This study provides a novel strategy for designing durable photoelectrodes via pre-catalyst reconstruction.
