The exploration of novel and multifunctional coatings through composite nanomaterials design is crucial for developing next-generation polyester fabrics. Herein, we report an efficient approach of self-assembling MoO 3– x QDs on MXene (Ti 3 C 2 T x ) to fabricate multifunctional polyester fabrics. In a typical preparation, MoO 3– x QDs with an average size of 5 nm were uniformly distributed on the surface of MXene nanoflakes upon UV light. Then, polyester fabrics were coated with MoO 3– x QDs/MXene by dipping. The results demonstrated that the coated fabric had a decreasing trend in the electrostatic half-period from more than 60 s (untreated fabric) to 0.15 s and had excellent washing fastness. In addition, a similar phenomenon was found in smoke suppression, with the coated fabric producing 36.16% less smoke. More importantly, the sterilization rate of the coated fabric had reached 99% to E. coli and S. aureus under sunlight owing to the strong response of MoO 3– x QDs/MXene. This work provides a novel and facile strategy to design multifunctional coatings.

Aluminum (Al) can significantly improve the energy density and specific impulse (I sp ) of solid rocket propellants as the primary metal fuel, but its incomplete combustion results in an undesirable energy release performance. The strategy of fuel/oxidizer interfacial control has been proved to effectively enhance the reaction efficiency of Al-based composites and thus improving the combustion properties of solid propellants. Ammonium perchlorate (AP) is commonly used as a high-energy oxidizer in solid propellant, and its thermal decomposition behavior directly affects the combustion characteristics of propellants. The addition of combustion catalysts can decrease thermal decomposition temperature and increase thermal reactivity of AP. As an emerging catalytic material, MoO 3-x quantum dots (QDs) with oxygen vacancies possess a high specific surface and strong charge adsorption capacity, which renders it a great potential for catalyzing AP. In this study, MoO 3-x QDs were introduced as catalyst and compared with traditional nano-metal oxides (M x O y ), the spherical Al@AP/M x O y composites with polydopamine as interfacial layer were prepared by spray drying method. The particle morphology, thermal decomposition kinetics and ignition properties of Al@AP/M x O y were investigated. The phase composition, morphology and particle size distribution for the condensed combustion products of composites were further analyzed. The decreased particle size and less unreacted Al content in CCPs indicated the increase of combustion efficiency between Al and AP. In particular, Al@AP/MoO 3-x has the higher heat of reaction, lower thermal decomposition temperature and small CCPs particle size distribution, which collectively suggested that the MoO 3-x is capable to improve the thermal reactivity of Al@AP composites with a higher combustion efficiency.

Oxygen deficient molybdenum oxide (MoO3−x) spurred intense scientific interest in biomedical research owing to the strong localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect in NIR region. Although a considerable number of methods have been used to prepare MoO3−x nanomaterials, most of them are limited by long reaction time, low yield and poor water solubility of the products. Herein, a novel ultraviolet irradiation method was developed to synthesize MoO3−x quantum dots (QDs) within 30 min, which rendered excellent water solubility and low cytotoxicity. The as-prepared MoO3−x QDs exhibited a relatively narrow size distribution with an average diameter of 5.63 nm, which was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy. Moreover, an intense LSPR effect in NIR regions was verified by UV-vis spectroscopy. Thus, the materials were used in photothermal ablation of cancer and glucose detection, showing high photothermal conversion efficiency and good sensitivity.

The continuous inflammatory response in diabetic skin wounds leads to excessive production of reactive oxygen species, which cause a vicious circle of long-term inflammation. In the therapeutic research of metal nanoenzymes for healing diabetic ulcers, it still faces the challenges in poor nanoenzymes activity and low-efficient therapeutic efficiency. Herein, ultrasmall oxygen-deficient MoO 3− X quantum dots were fabricated and employed as nanoenzymes for healing fiabetic ulcers. After PEGylation, PEGylated MoO 3− X quantum dots (MoO 3− X /PEG) with oxygen vacancies exhibits excellent photothermal, peroxidase/catalase-like activities. In addition, these MoO 3− X /PEG showed superior properties in scavenging H 2 O 2 and effectively inhibiting the scavenging of reactive oxygen species. More importantly, such an oxygen-defected MoO 3− X /PEG had obvious antibacterial and skin repairing effects on alleviating hypoxia and excessive oxidative stress even in a mouse model of diabetic ulcers, inhibiting proinflammatory cytokines and significantly accelerating the healing of infected wounds, which shows great application potential for promoting wound healing. This work highlights that the developed oxygen defected molybdenum oxide compounds capable of peroxidase-like and catalase-like activities show great application potential for healing diabetes wound.
