Solar energy conversion into hydrogen (H 2 ) energy has attracted much attention. However, the low light utilization rate and fast carrier recombination of photocatalysts extremely limit the practical application of photocatalytic H 2 production. In this paper, MoSe 2 -NiSe with abundant active sites and interfacial electronic structures as dual co-catalysts were assembled on g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets (NSs) vis a solvothermal reaction process. MoSe 2 -NiSe/g-C 3 N 4 NSs composite exhibited improved light absorption and photoelectrochemical properties. The photocatalytic H 2 production rate of MoSe 2 -NiSe/g-C 3 N 4 composite achieved 2379.04 μmol·h −1 ·g −1 , which is 99.25, 1.44, and 3.67 times those of pure g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets (23.97 μmol·h −1 ·g −1 ), MoSe 2 /C 3 N 4 (1654.57 μmol·h −1 ·g −1 ), and NiSe/C 3 N 4 (649.08 μmol·h −1 ·g −1 ), respectively. The apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) value of MoSe 2 -NiSe/g-C 3 N 4 achieved 4.07 % under light at λ = 370 nm. The corresponding characterization and experiments proved that 2D ultrathin g-C 3 N 4 NSs with a large surface area and short charge-transfer distance could facilitate light scattering and the transport of photoexcited electrons. MoSe 2 -NiSe, as a dual co-catalyst, showed strong electronic synergistic interaction between the interfaces, thus improving the conductivity and promoting the electron transfer process.

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline porous materials for storage and energy conversion applications with three-dimensional pore structure, high porosity, and specific surface area, which are widely utilized in electrocatalysis. Herein, MoSe2/NiSe composites were synthesized by selenization reaction using NiMOF as the precursor. The composites were hollow nanoflower structures with a synergistic effect between MoSe2 and NiSe to promote rapid electron transfer, which exhibited good hydrogen evolution reaction performance in an alkaline medium. At a current density of 10 mA/cm2, the HER overpotential reaches 80 mV, the Tafel slope is 33.86 mV/dec, and the material has good stability, with polarization curves remaining essentially unchanged after 3000 cycles. These results indicate that the method has a promising application in the preparation of efficient and sustainable catalysts for hydrogen production in alkaline medium.
The development of hydrogen evolution catalysts from earth-abundant elements with highly active and stable activity are crucial for the promotion of more energy and cost-efficient hydrogen production . Herein, a facile one-step hydrothermal approach is proposed to fabricate 3D hierarchical microcages composed of MoSe 2 -NiSe@carbon nanosheets for the efficient electro-catalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by water hydrolysis. The heterostrucutres were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy , scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The nanohybrids of MoSe 2 -NiSe are constructed by in situ combination of hexagonal NiSe and MoSe 2 , where the high quality vertical heterostructure can benefit the electrons transfer from metallic NiSe to the MoSe 2 matrix, accomplishing the electronic modulation of MoSe 2 -NiSe@carbon catalysts for robust electrocatalytic performance. The optimal MoSe 2 -NiSe@carbon exhibits excellent HER catalytic performance and superior durability in both acidic and alkaline medium .
