Molecular catalysts with precisely designed structures and abundant metal-nitrogen active sites have garnered significant attention for their ability to efficiently perform electroreduction of carbon dioxide (ERCD). However, the catalytic efficiency and selectivity are significantly limited by the fixed electronic structure of the metal-nitrogen structure, resulting in low production efficiency of more valuable products. This work presents the electronic regulation of cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) through in situ oxidation of N-doped Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets (CoPc/o–N–MXene). The resulting material exhibits high activity and tailorable selectivity. The study confirmed a strong interaction between Co-N 4 active sites and N–MXene after oxidation, resulting in a “Co–N–MXene” bond. This bond contributes to the transformation of intermediate ∗ CO into ∗ HCO, leading to a high selectivity of ERCD to methanol. This work provides a perspective on the mechanism of ERCD to methanol and an avenue for the synthesis of effective catalysts.

Graphical NIB news : MoS 2 anchored on nitrogen-doped MXene nanosheets with carbon coating were prepared and applied in Na-ion batteries (NIBs). It remained at ∼308 mAh g −1 at 0.5 A g −1 after 300 cycles and showed higher rate performance of ∼189 mAh g −1 at 4 A g −1 . The MoS 2 @N-MXene/C heterogeneous nanosheets showed enhanced pseudocapacitance effects of 84.5 % at a scan rate of 2 mV s −1 according to CV curves simulation. Currently, Na-ion batteries (NIBs) have emerged as a new generation of energy storage devices. However, due to the lack of suitable anode materials, the large-scale practical application of NIBs is still greatly limited. Therefore, to address this issue, an effective strategy towards an advanced NIBs anode was developed by achieving MoS 2 anchored on nitrogen-doped MXene nanosheets with carbon coating (shorten as MoS 2 @N-MXene/C). The structure, surface chemistry state and micromorphology of MoS 2 @N-MXene/C were carefully analyzed and characterized by XRD, XPS and SEM/TEM, respectively. It was shown that MoS 2 was loaded on N-MXene to form a heterogeneous nanosheets structure. When applied to the anode of NIBs, MoS 2 @N-MXene/C delivered ∼189 mAh g −1 at 4 A g −1 and remained at ∼308 mAh g −1 after 300 cycles at 0.5 A g −1 . Moreover, based on the simulation and calculation from CV curves, the enhanced electrochemical performances of MoS 2 @N-MXene/C was assigned to its high pseudocapacitance-dominated contribution (84.5 % at a scan rate of 2 mV s −1 ). Therefore, owing to the highly conductive N-MXene and the actively anchored MoS 2 , MoS 2 @N-MXene/C could effectively provide efficient channels for charge transfer and ionic diffusion. The presented design strategy may provide a guidance for developing more-efficient NIBs anode.

A novel synthetic strategy is proposed to create high zero-valent platinum (Pt) components, sub-nanometer Pt clusters, and three-dimensional (3D) Pt/ nitrogen-doped MXene (N-Ti 3 C 2 T x ) catalyst through electrostatic self-assembly combined with non-in-situ doping pyrolysis. Compared with the primary Pt/Ti 3 C 2 T x , the N-doped Pt/N-Ti 3 C 2 T x , which has a 3D wrinkled porous structure, increases the residence time of methylcyclohexane (MCH) on the catalyst surface during gas–solid reactions and improves the mass transfer efficiency of MCH. In addition, the N-doped Pt/N-Ti 3 C 2 T x , which optimizes the electronic coordination environment, produces sub-nanometer Pt clusters, in which Pt mainly exists as Pt (0) (80.78 %) and avoids the presence of low catalytic activity Pt (IV). The Pt 0.5% /N-MXene catalyst exhibits significant catalytic performance in the dehydrogenation of MCH in a fixed-bed reactor, with a hydrogen evolution rate of 636.30 mmol·g Pt -1 ·min - 1 , which significantly surpasses 176.60 mmol·g Pt -1 ·min - 1 for N-undoped Pt 1% /MXene and 78.13 mmol·g Pt -1 ·min - 1 for commercial Pt 1% /TiO 2 . Density functional theory calculations, Pt/N-Ti 3 C 2 T x exhibits lower Pt electronic states and has a d -band center closer to the Fermi level than Pt/Ti 3 C 2 T x . This configuration leads to the stronger MCH adsorption on the Pt sites of Pt/N-Ti 3 C 2 T x , promoting faster H 2 generation and release, thereby achieving a higher catalytic activity.

The focus of this study is to develop a high-performance anode material for microbial fuel cells (MFCs). PEDOT:PSS and nitrogen-modified MXene were combined to create a hydrogel composite material called PPNM, which was drop-cast onto carbon felt (CF) as the MFCs anode. The PPNM exhibited a higher peak power density of 4.78 W m −2 , an increase of 332% compared to the CF anode. It is worth noting that the PPNM Hydrogel maintains its rough and porous structure, providing favorable sites for bacterial colonization. The introduction of N-MXene has improved the electrochemical performance of the hydrogel, particularly impacting the mediated electron transfer process. Microbial community analysis revealed the presence of more electrochemically active species on the PPNM anode. These findings highlight the potential of PPNM hydrogel and pave the way for similar strategies in achieving high-performance anodes in MFCs.

In this study, a three-dimensional honeycomb Fe/N-MXene composite was prepared by heating the mixture of the prefabricated honeycomb N-MXene composite with Fe 4 [Fe(CN) 6 ] 3 (referred to as PB tube). Subsequently, it was introduced to enhance the hydrogen storage properties of MgH 2 through ball milling. Experimental results demonstrate that the initial dehydrogenation temperature of the MgH 2 +Fe/N-MXene composite system is 198 °C, which is significantly lower than that of pure MgH 2 . Additionally, the absorption/dehydrogenation activation energies of MgH 2 +Fe/N-MXene composites were reduced by 50.9 kJ mol −1 and 68.1 kJ mol −1 , respectively, compared with MgH 2 . After 20 min at 100 °C, 5.14 wt% H 2 is absorbed. Mechanism analysis reveals that the presence of Fe prolongs the length of the Mg–H bond and weakens its bond energy. The unique honeycomb structure of N-MXene provides more nucleation sites for hydrogen atoms for adsorption and storage. Under the catalytic action of Fe/N-MXene composite, the hydrogen storage capacity of MgH 2 is significantly improved.
