In this study, a novel nucleating agent composed of graphene oxide (GO) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) (GO–SiO2) is developed. GO is used as a skeleton material through which SiO2nanomaterials are absorbed and subsequently incorporated into Na2SO4·10H2O phase change materials (PCMs). Furthermore, this study examines the phase change performance of the composite Na2SO4·10H2O materials. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectra confirmed the physical combination of GO with a SiO2nanoparticles. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) results showed that the GO–SiO2composite exhibited a layered structure and excellent dispersibility. The GO–SiO2composite Na2SO4·10H2O PCMs displayed a low level of supercooling, i.e., about 1.2 °C with the addition of GO–SiO2at 2.45 wt%. This was because the synergistic relation of the GO and the high dispersion SiO2, imparted more nucleation sites for Na2SO4·10H2O. Additionally, the prepared PCMs achieved high phase change latent heat and thermal conductivity, even under these conditions. The results show that the GO–SiO2in the Na2SO4·10H2O exhibited advantageous application prospects for the improvement of the thermal performance of hydrate salts.

In this paper, carbon particles with micro- and nano-particle size were synthesized through a hydrothermal reaction of glucose, namely C-1(123.1 nm), C-2(229.2 nm), C-3(335.1 nm), C-4(456.2 nm) and C-5(534.0 nm) with distinct sizes. We utilized five size carbon particles as individual fillers into the EHS matrix materials to prepare composite eutectic phase change materials (C/EHS PCMs) by melt blending technique. The impact of carbon particle size on the dispersion stability and thermal properties of Na 2 SO 4 ⋅10H 2 O–Na 2 HPO 4 ⋅12H 2 O (EHS) phase change materials was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis were done to analyze the diameters of carbon particles. The cryogenic-scanning electron microscopy (Cryo-SEM) analysis indicated that the carbon particles resulted in modification in the morphology of the EHS. The results of in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transformed infrared (FTIR) analysis showed only simple physical mixing between carbon particles and EHS. It is shown that adding 0.2 wt.% C-2 can decrease the supercooling degree of EHS to 1.5 ∘ C. The cyclic stability of C/EHS varies significantly depending on the size of carbon particles. The thermal conductivity of EHS increased by 42.1%, 39.9%, 14.4%, 19.5%, and 18.8% with the addition of C-1, C-2, C-3, C-4, and C-5, respectively, at a mass fraction of 0.2%. The results of differential scanning calorimetry reveal that the incorporation of C-1, C-2, C-3, and C-4 into EHS leads to an enhancement of latent heat. The latent heat capacity of EHS with 0.2 wt.% C-2 is 243.4 J⋅g − 1 , and after undergoing 500 cycles of solid-liquid phase transition, the latent heat remained above 200 J⋅g − 1 . Through the comprehensive analysis, the C-2/EHS composite phase change material holds significant potential for advancing building insulation and solar energy storage technologies.

The Na 2 SO 4 ·10H 2 O-based phase change energy storage materials (PCMs) were fabricated through vacuum impregnating and adsorbing the oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNs) with diatomite. The Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy results reveals that the existence of carboxyl and hydroxyl groups in MWCNs can increase its compatibility with PCMs. The vacuum impregnated to obtain the diatomite composite PCMs (PCMs-M-D) crystallize adhering to the treated diatomite (DI-2) observed from the scanning electron microscope. The PCMs-M-D displays negligible supercooling and the thermal conductivity reaches 0.97 W m −1 K −1 . Moreover, after 100 cycles of phase change, the melting latent heat loss is 1.43% and the solidification latent heat loss is 11.15%, showing good heat storage performance and chemical stability.

Conductive hydrogels (CHs) are ideal electrolyte materials for the preparation of flexible supercapacitors (FSCs) due to their excellent electrochemical properties, mechanical properties, and deformation restorability. However, most of the reported CHs are prepared by the chemical crosslinking of synthetic polymers and thus usually display the disadvantages of poor self-healing abilities and nonadaptability at environmental temperatures, which greatly limits their application. To overcome these problems, in the present work, we constructed a sodium alginate–borax/gelatin double-network conductive hydrogel (CH) by a dynamic crosslinking between sodium alginate (SA) and borax via borate bonds and hydrogen bonding between amino acids in gelatin and SA chains. The CH displays an excellent elongation of 305.7% and fast self-healing behavior in 60 s. Furthermore, a phase-change material (PCM), Na2SO4·10H2O, was introduced into the CH, which, combined with the nucleation effect of borax, improved the ionic conductivity and temperature adaptability of the CH. The flexible supercapacitor (FSC) assembled with the obtained CH as the electrolyte exhibits a high specific capacitance of 185.3 F·g–1 at a current density of 0.25 A·g–1 and good stability with 84% capacitance retention after 10 000 cycles and excellent temperature tolerance with a resistance variation of 2.11 Ω in the temperature range of −20–60 °C. This green CH shows great application potential as an electrolyte for FSCs, and the preparation method can be potentially expanded to the fabrication of self-repairing FSCs with good temperature adaptabilities.
