Herein, for the first time, a self-supported electrode for simultaneous determination of hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CA) was synthesized by loading NiCoFe-layered double hydroxide nanoflowers on hydrophilic carbon cloth (NiCoFe-LDH NFs/CC) with a simple hydrothermal method. By combining the advantages of NiCoFe-LDH NFs with hydrophilic carbon cloth such as good conductivity, 3D porous network structure, high electrocatalytic activity, and fast electron transport, the proposed NiCoFe-LDH NFs/CC electrode dispalyed good electrochemical activity for detecting HQ and CA. The binder-free and free-standing electrode based on NiCoFe-LDH NFs/CC possessed good linear range (5–200 μM), low determination limit (0.15 μM and 0.11 μM), and strong selectivity. Furthermore, it also showed good electrochemical stability without obvious change in ten days. More importantly, as-prepared electrode could be used as an efficient electrochemical sensor to determine HQ and CA content in actual samples with good recovery rate, revealing its feasibility in potential application.

The fabrication of advanced electrocatalysts for urea-assisted electrolytic water splitting is of great significance for yielding green hydrogen. In this study, Ce doping a quaternary sea urchin like medium-entropy NiCoFe layered double hydroxide (Ce 1.2 -NiCoFe-LDH) nanoshe et s were obtained by employing a doping engineering strategy. Characterization experimental results confirmed that Ce dopants could modify the oxygen vacancy structure of NiCoFe-LDH, accelerating charge and mass transfer. thereby enhancing the urea decomposition. The electrochemical results indicated that Ce 1.2 -NiCoFe-LDH demonstrated high-efficiency catalysis for UOR, characterized by high intrinsic activity, rapid kinetics, and robust durability. The overpotential of Ce 1.2 -NiCoFe-LDH was only 48 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm −2 , much lower than the commercial IrO 2 (126 mV at 10 mA cm −2 ). The tafel slope of Ce 1.2 -NiCoFe-LDH (62 mV dec −1 ) was also better than those of IrO 2 (88 mV dec −1 ) and NiCoFe-LDH (99 mV dec −1 ). Compared with the commercial IrO 2 , the Ce 1.2 -NiCoFe-LDH exhibited a change of only 3.2 % after a 12-hour chronoamperometric test, indicating an improvement in stability. Impedance comparison between the two hydrotalcites revealed that Ce 1.2 -NiCoFe-LDH possessed lower impedance, potentially enhancing catalytic efficiency. Therefore, this work illustrates that the modulation of oxygen vacancies in electrocatalysts, induced by the heteroatom doping effect, can enhance the electrocatalytic oxidation performance of small molecules for hydrogen production.

In this study, MXene-derived/NiCoFe-LDH heterostructures with three-dimensional interconnected porous network microstructures were prepared, leveraging the excellent electrical conductivity and growth platform provided by the MXene material. The remarkable specific capacitance of metal oxides was fully exploited. The composite exhibited high specific capacitance and excellent stability, with a specific capacitance of 1305 F g−1at 1 A g−1and a capacitance of 85.7% of the initial performance after 6000 charge/discharge tests at 10 A g−1. A two-electrode assembly was constructed using activated carbon as the negative electrode material corresponding to 49.5 Wh kg−1at 800 W kg−1, indicating that the electrodes could achieve rapid charge/discharge. The findings of this study indicate that the composite material comprising LDH/MXene has significant potential for supercapacitor applications. Keywords:supercapacitor;MXene;layered double hydroxide;three-dimensional

This study develops a hierarchical diatomite-supported NiCoFe-LDH (De@NiCoFe-LDH) for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation to degrade ofloxacin (OFL). The analysis of SEM, XRD, FTIR, XPS and BET were used to characterize the samples. The as-prepared De@NiCoFe-LDH possesses a high specific surface area and abundant active sites, which contribute to its superior catalytic performance. Under the conditions of 0.2 g/L catalyst, 0.3 mM PMS, 20 mg L −1 OFL, and pH 5.2, 99.7 % of OFL was removed within 40 min, markedly outperforming the unsupported LDH. The removal fitted with the pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics well with rate constant of 0.1470 min −1 . ESR and quenching studies indicate that the OFL degradation proceeds via a mixed radical (SO₄• − , •OH, O₂• − ) / non-radical ( 1 O₂) mechanism, primarily driven by 1 O₂. Mechanism investigation suggested that the redox cycles of Ni 2+ /Ni 3+ , Co 2+ /Co 3+ and Fe 2+ /Fe 3+ on the surface of De@NiCoFe-LDH were crucial for PMS activation. In addition, the ideal reusability and versatility of De@NiCoFe-LDH as well as low-toxicity of treated water endowed the De@NiCoFe-LDH/PMS system with a wide range of applications.

To address the challenge of balancing high energy density with long-term cycling stability in supercapacitor electrodes, this study proposes a collaborative design strategy that combines active-ion doping with conductive scaffold construction. Using a one-step hydrothermal method, redox-active Fe 3 + was introduced into the nickel-cobalt layered double hydroxide (NC-LDH) matrix and simultaneously anchored in situ on a highly conductive electrospun carbon nanofibers (CNFs) scaffold, yielding the NCF-LDH/CNF composite electrode. Within this architecture, the CNF skeleton not only effectively suppresses the aggregation of NCF-LDH nanosheets but also establishes continuous pathways for rapid electron transport. Meanwhile, Fe 3+ doping offeres additional electroactive sites and has a certain regulating effect on the electronic structure of the LDH layers. The combined benefits of these components significantly improve the electrochemical performance of the composite. Electrochemical tests demonstrate that at a Ni:Co:Fe mass ratio of 4:1:0.75, the resulting N 4 C 1 F 0.75 -LDH/CNF composite exhibits optimal performance, delivering a specific capacitance of 2457.4 F g −1 at a current density of 1 A g −1 . When configured as the positive electrode against an activated carbon (AC) negative electrode, an asymmetric supercapacitor based on this composite achieves an energy density of 56 Wh kg −1 at a power density of 800.6 W kg −1 , along with a capacitance retention of 85.1% after 8000 cycles at 3 A g −1 . The results highlight the N 4 C 1 F 0.75 -LDH/CNF composite is a promising candidate for high-energy-density and long- cycle -life energy storage devices. Here, ternary layer hydroxide (NiCoFe-LDH) nanosheets have been grafted in situ onto graphene oxide (GO) using a one-pot hydrothermal method to obtain NiCoFe-LDH/GO for the fabrication of a non-enzymatic glucose sensor with high stability. SEM analysis shows that ternary LDHs with a nanosheet layer structure grow on GO at an angle with less stacking, thus imparting NiCoFe-LDH/GO with a large specific surface area (112.32 m2 g−1) that exposes more active sites. The results of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA) studies show that NiCoFe-LDH/GO/GCE displays a wide linear detection range of 0.005–7.54 mM, a sensitivity of 196.18 μA cm−2 mM−1, and a low detection limit of 0.41 μM (S/N = 3). In particular, NiCoFe-LDH/GO/GCE has high stability, that is, it still holds 90.2% of its initial value even after 90 days. Meanwhile, the study results demonstrate that the NiCoFe-LDH/GO/GCE electrode is suitable for the detection of glucose in artificial saliva, and it also reveals a good recovery ranging from 95.6% to 105.5% in actual saliva. Therefore, NiCoFe-LDH/GO is anticipated to be an ideal sensing material for the creation of noninvasive enzyme-free glucose sensors.

Metal sulfides have attracted extensive attention in photocatalysis , but are limited by the high combination rate of photo-induced charges due to their bulky structures. Herein, a bioinspired three-dimensional (3D) penetrating structured micro-mesoporous Z-scheme heterojunction of NiCoFe-layered double hydroxides@ZnIn 2 S 4 (NiCoFe-LDH@ZIS) with S vacancies was constructed. The NiCoFe-LDH@ZIS heterojunction was prepared by limiting the growth of ZIS through intercalating flower-like ZIS within dandelion-like LDH. The obtained NiCoFe-LDH@ZIS demonstrated a superior photocatalytic H 2 evolution (PHE) rate (113.57 mmol g −1 h −1 ) and 97.78 % conversion rate of benzylamine oxidation, simultaneously. This superior photocatalytic performance benefits from the enhanced charge separation induced by the combination of 3D penetrating micro-mesoporous structure, the introduction of S vacancies, and Z-scheme heterojunction. This dimensional-matched 3D penetrating porous heterojunction affords more abundant active sites, accelerated separation of photogenerated carriers, and reduced activation energy of H 2 evolution. This unique structure provides a feasible reference for bi-functional photocatalytic reactions.

Herein, a cost-effective and user-friendly electrochemical sensor was fabricated via a straightforward surface functionalization strategy using L-cysteine-functionalized NiFe 2 O 4 @NiCoFe LDH/MLG nanocomposites, specifically designed for on-site screening of Pb 2+ in Class III-V surface waters. The fabrication process involved the in-situ one-step hydrothermal growth of NiFe 2 O 4 @ternary NiCoFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanomaterials on a multilayer graphene (MLG) scaffold, followed by functionalization with L-cysteine (L-Cys) to yield the Cys/NiFe 2 O 4 @NiCoFe LDH/MLG/SPE sensor. Benefiting from the excellent electrical conductivity of MLG, the synergistic enhancement effect of the ternary LDH, and the multiple coordination active sites of L-Cys, the as-prepared sensor exhibits reliable sensing performance for Pb 2+ detection. Under optimal conditions, the sensor achieved a linear dynamic range of 0.1–3 mg/L and a limit of detection (LOD) of 30 μg/L, which is sufficient to discriminate Pb 2+ concentrations exceeding the regulatory threshold for Class III surface water (50 μg/L, GB 3838–2002). The sensor also demonstrated excellent selectivity against common coexisting ions (Co 2+ , Fe 3+ , Cu 2+ , and Zn 2+ ) and satisfactory repeatability (RSD = 4.42%). In real water sample analysis, recoveries ranged from 94.1% to 113%, confirming its practical applicability. Overall, the Cys/NiFe 2 O 4 @NiCoFe LDH/MLG/SPE composite electrode offers a cost-effective, robust, and operationally simple analytical platform, showing great promise for rapid on-site risk-level screening of Pb 2+ contamination in heavily impacted surface waters, particularly in resource-limited regions.
