Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) stands out as a renowned commercial conducting polymer composite, boasting extensive and promising applications in the realm of film electronics. In this study, we have made a concerted effort to overcome the inherent drawbacks of PEDOT:PSS films (especially, high moisture absorption, mechanical damage vulnerability, insufficient substrate adhesion ability, etc.) by uniformly blending them with polydimethylsiloxane polyurea (PDMS-PUa) and silica (SiO2) nanoparticles through a feasible mechanical stirring process, which effectively harnesses the intermolecular interactions, as well as the morphological and structural characteristics, among the various components. The Si−O bonds within PDMS-PUa and the −CH3groups attached to Si atoms significantly enhance the hydrophobicity of the composite film (as evidenced by a water contact angle of 132.89° under optimized component ratios). Meanwhile, SiO2microscopically modifies the surface morphology, resulting in increased surface roughness. This composite film not only maintains high conductivity (1.21 S/cm, in contrast to 0.83 S/cm for the PEDOT:PSS film) but also preserves its hydrophobicity and electrical properties under rigorous conditions, including high-temperature exposure (60–200 °C), ultraviolet (UV) aging (365.0 nm, 1.32 mW/cm2), and abradability testing (2000 CW abrasive paper, drag force of approximately 0.98 N, 40 cycles). Furthermore, the film demonstrates enhanced resistance to both acidic (1 mol/L, 24 h) and alkaline (1 mol/L, 24 h) environments, along with excellent self-cleaning and de-icing capabilities (−6 °C), and satisfactory adhesion (Level 2). Notably, the dried composite film can be re-dispersed into a solution with the aid of isopropanol through simple magnetic stirring, and the sequentially coated films also exhibit good surface hydrophobicity (136.49°), equivalent to that of the pristine film. This research aims to overcome the intrinsic performance drawbacks of PEDOT:PSS-based materials, enabling them to meet the demands of complex application scenarios in the field of organic electronics while endowing them with multifunctionality.

Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polyurethane acrylate (PUA) are excellent pattern transfer materials. In this study, PDMS-PUA bi-directional replication technology is explored using the PDMS grating as a template, and relevant technical issues are discussed in detail. Special surface treatment and process optimization are applied to solve the problems of demolding, PDMS polymerization inhibition, and substrate flatness. Further experiments show that the technology can be employed to replicate nanoscale structures and has the potential value of prolonging the longevity of the original template. Additionally, utilizing the advantage of the high elasticity of PDMS materials, two applications of bi-directional replication technology are demonstrated. One is to increase the line-density of the grating by stretching, and the experimental results show that the line-density of the grating increased by 26.6%. The other one is to fabricate the convex grating. Compared with the original planar PDMS grating, the resolution of the first-order diffraction spectrum of the convex grating at the focal point has been greatly improved. Since this technology requires simple equipment, and PDMS and PUA are reusable, it has the advantages of low cost, simplicity, and rapid fabrication. The two application examples also indicate that the technology has good application value.

Marine biofouling presents a significant global challenge today. Silicone-based coatings have garnered considerable interest due to their low surface energy characteristics. However, their practical applications are limited by poor mechanical properties, weak adhesion, and poor static antifouling performance. In response to these inherent limitations, this study innovatively proposed a novel strategy of synergistic nano enzyme-catalyzed sterilization and low surface energy antifouling. A nanocomposite coating, PDMS-PUA-F-Cu, was developed by incorporating peroxidase-like copper nanoparticles (Cu NPs) into a silicone-based polyurethane (PDMS-PUA). The PDMS-PUA was first synthesized through a two-step process using isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (HO-PDMS-OH), and 4,4′-methylenebis(3-chloro-2,6-diethylaniline) (MCDEA) as raw materials. Subsequently, Cu NPs modified with IPDI and polyethylene glycol (PEG) were incorporated into PDMS-PUA to obtain the PDMS-PUA-F-Cu. The resulting coating exhibited enhanced hardness (∼21 MPa) and strong substrate adhesion (∼1.75 MPa) while retaining hydrophobicity and low surface energy. More importantly, the peroxidase-like activity of Cu NPs catalyzed the generation of reactive oxygen species (·OH and ·O 2 − ), enabling dynamic sterilization that significantly enhances the antifouling performance. Experimental results demonstrated outstanding antibacterial rates of ∼98.6 % against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and ∼98.8 % against Staphylococcus aureus , along with remarkable inhibition of Chlorella. adhesion (∼97.4 %). Mechanistic studies confirmed that the synergy between nano enzyme-driven biocidal activity and low surface energy effectively overcame the static antifouling limitations of traditional silicone coatings. This work provides a viable approach for developing high-performance antifouling coatings by combining catalytic sterilization with low-surface-energy coatings.
