Recently, MoSe 2 has exhibited limited development in the field of gas sensors owing to its low sensitivity and slow response/recovery. Herein, various noble metals (Pt, Pd, and Ag) were employed to dope the MoSe 2 nanoflower for enhancing its sensing capability to NO 2 . Compared to Ag and Pd modification, the Pt doped-MoSe 2 sensor displayed higher sensitivity, faster response rate, and better selectivity. Moreover, the 2.5 %Pt-MoSe 2 sensor had a large sensitivity of 2.45 to 32 ppm NO 2 , good repeatability, and a low detection limit of 0.1 ppm at 110 °C. The improvement in the gas-sensing response can be attributed to the spillover effect and catalytic sensitization of Pt. Moreover, the first principle calculations for the adsorption energy and density of states have confirmed that the MoSe 2 material can adsorb NO 2 more effectively by Pt doping. The Pt-decorated MoSe 2 material exhibits a promising prospect in the field of NO 2 gas detection.

This study adopts a facile and effective in situ encapsulation-oxidation strategy for constructing a coupling catalyst composed of atomically dispersed Pt-doped Co 3 O 4 spinel nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in polyhedron frames (PFs) for robust propane total oxidation. Benefiting from the abundant oxygen vacancies and more highly valent active Co 3+ species caused by the doping of Pt atoms as well as the confinement effect, the optimized 0.2Pt-Co 3 O 4 NPs/PFs catalyst exhibits excellent propane catalytic activity with low T 90 (184 °C), superior apparent reaction rate (21.62×10 8 (mol g cat −1 s −1 )), low apparent activation energy ( E a = 17.89 kJ mol −1 ), high turnover frequency ( 811×10 7 (mol g cat −1 s −1 )) as well as good stability. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations indicate that the doping of Pt atoms enhances the oxygen activation ability, and decreases the energy barrier required for C H bond breaking, thus improving the deep oxidation process of the intermediate species. This study opens up new ideas for constructing coupling catalysts from atomic scale with low cost to enhance the activation of oxygen molecules and the deep oxidation of linear short chain alkanes at low temperature.

Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs), a class of promising metal organic frameworks (MOFs) material, display high porosity and chemical/thermal stability. However, there are problems such as few active sites and restricted exposed active areas, which limit the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance of catalysts. Here, starting from zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67), we have successfully synthesized Pt-doped CoFe layered double hydroxide (Pt/CoFe LDH) catalysts for efficient OER catalysis. The obtained Pt/CoFe LDH-4 catalysts provides large surface areas and abundant active sites, which further improves the OER performance. In detail, the Pt/CoFe LDH-4 exhibits a lower overpotential of 263 mV at a current density of 40 mA cm −2 , in 1 M KOH solution, the stability of the catalyst exceeds 120 h at this current density, far superior to commercial catalyst RuO 2 . This study describes a new design idea for synthesis of LDH catalytic materials with low noble metal doping, which broadens the way to the synthesis of robust OER catalysts derived from ZIF-67.

Following the guidance of nitrogenase, the natural iron-based catalysts with remarkably high activity in nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) may be a talent option to develop artificial molecular mimics. However, the electrochemical NRR process of iron-based catalysts still suffers from the high overpotential, poor lifespan, and slow reaction kinetics of the hydrogenation process. Through a controllable etching and in-situ carbonating process, a Pt-doped FeP/C hollow nanorod catalysts was fabricated. Driven by the doped Pt atom, the catalyst solves the key kinetic problem about insufficient proton feeding in the process of nitrogen reduction, and actively transfers protons to intermediates of the hydrogenation steps in NRR. Moreover, the as-prepared catalyst presents the highest NH 3 yield value of 10.22 μg h −1 cm −2 among multitudinous Fe based catalysts at lower potential of −0.05 V ( vs . RHE) with an excellent Faraday efficiency (FE) of 15.3 %, which is higher than FeP/C without the Pt-driven proton-feeding effect, and the cathodic current density presents no significant change within 50 h. In addition, the density functional theory (DFT) and Attenuated total reflection surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectrum (ATR-SEIRAS) results verify the reaction path and protons-feeding kinetic process.

Sensitive detections of nitrite (NO 2 - ), hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), bromate (BrO 3 - ) and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) have very important significance in different fields. Herein, Pt-doped FeP-C hollow nanorod was fabricated by a controllable etching and in-situ carbonating procedure. Then, a modified electrode (Nafion/Hb/Pt-FeP-C/CILE) was constructed by dropping Pt-FeP-C, hemoglobin (Hb) and Nafion membrane on carbon ionic liquid electrode (CILE). Benefitting from the synergistic effects of Pt NPs and FeP-C, Pt-FeP-C provides a favorable biocompatible microenvironment for Hb attachment with enhanced catalytic performance. Electroanalysis of NO 2 - , H 2 O 2 , BrO 3 - and TCA were realized in the detection range from 0.2 to 7.0 mmol·L -1 , 0.3 to 7.0 mmol L -1 , 0.76 to 7.0 mmol·L -1 , 5.0 to 900.0 mmol L -1 , and the detection limits were 0.07 mmol L -1 , 0.1 mmol L -1 , 0.25 mmol L -1 and 1.67 mmol L -1 , respectively. The real samples were further analyzed with satisfactory results.

Developing a feasible method to massively fabricate low-cost and efficient oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalysts is highly anticipated to the commercialization of fuel cells. In this work, N atoms were doped into inert sp2 configuration to alter the spin and charge distribution in the carbon matrix. The Pt/H2–N–C catalyst was successfully prepared by embedding ultralow Pt nanoparticles on N-based carbon. Results indicated that the protonated N-groups at edge sites efficiently regulated the absorption of the PtCl62– anion and widely limited the migration of Pt species at 1000 °C. The acquired Pt/H2–N–C electrocatalyst exhibited high ORR performance in the acidic electrolyte. The high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell (HT-PEMFC) measurement illustrated that the open-circuit voltage and power density of the Pt/H2–N–C catalyst were higher than those of the commercial 20% Pt/C at 150 °C. This work provided a facile strategy to obtain efficient and low-cost Pt catalysts for ORR and HT-PEMFCs.
