In this study, PtOEP/poly(p-FSt-co-TFEMA) fluoropolymer film based on the dynamic fluorescence quenching mechanism was prepared by embedded platinum octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP) in poly (p-fluorostyrene-co-trifluoroethyl methacrylate) (poly(p-FSt-co-TFEMA)) film via solvent evaporation method. The oxygen-sensing properties, including the sensitivity, fluorescence intensity, and photo-stability, were evaluated based on variable indicator concentration and film thickness. The optimal parameters were determined through a series of parallel experiments. Results indicate a film thickness of 16 μm and an optimal PtOEP concentration of 1.0 mM. Under optimal conditions, the PtOEP/poly(p-FSt-co-TFEMA) fluoropolymer film exhibited an adequate signal-to noise ratio, high oxygen sensitivity and satisfactory anti-photo-bleaching ability.

Fluorinated acrylate polymer has received great interest in recent years due to its extraordinary characteristics such as high oxygen permeability, good stability, low surface energy and refractive index . In this work, platinum octaethylporphyrin/poly(methylmethacrylate- co -trifluoroethyl methacrylate) (PtOEP/poly(MMA- co -TFEMA)) oxygen sensing film was prepared by the immobilizing of PtOEP in a poly(MMA- co -TFEMA) matrix and the technological readiness of optical properties was established based on the principle of luminescence quenching . It was found that the oxygen-sensing performance could be improved by optimizing the monomer ratio (MMA/TFEMA = 1:1), tributylphosphate(TBP, 0.05 mL) and PtOEP (5 μg) content. Under this condition, the maximum quenching ratio I 0 /I 100 of the oxygen sensing film is obtained to be about 8.16, Stern-Volmer equation is I 0 /I = 1.003 + 2.663[O 2 ] (R 2 = 0.999), exhibiting a linear relationship, good photo-stability, high sensitivity and accuracy. Finally, the synthesized PtOEP/poly(MMA- co -TFEMA) sensing film was used for DO detection in different water samples.
HighlightsA FRET system (FITC-PtOEP) was integrated into a photonic crystal film for oxygen sensing.Imidazole modification boosted fluorescence intensity by 52.4% under 100% O2atmosphere.Imidazole also provided excellent photostability with a 99.77% fluorescence retention rate.Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) was implemented in a photonic crystal-structured oxygen sensing film by incorporating fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) with platinum octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP). The highest Stern-Volmer quenching constant (KSV= 20.20 ± 0.25) and maximum quenching ratio (21.81 ± 0.21) were achieved at a PtOEP:FITC molar ratio of 1:1. Compared to the control, theKSVand maximum quenching ratio increased by 56.8% and 48.4%, respectively. Additionally, imidazole was introduced into the oxygen-sensing film via a casting method. The results demonstrated that imidazole effectively modulates the energy transfer efficiency between oxygen molecules and PtOEP. Under 20% O2and 100% O2atmospheres, the fluorescence intensity of the imidazole-modified film increased by 18.4% and 52.4%, respectively. Furthermore, imidazole provided excellent protection for PtOEP, yielding a fluorescence retention rate of 99.77% ± 0.18%.
