SnO2/Ag hollow microsphere, assembled form SnO2 and Ag nanoparticles, was synthesized via a facile one-step hydrothermal synthesis method using Na2SnO3.3H2O, CO(NH2)2 and AgNO3 as raw materials.
XRD, SEM, and TEM results revealed that the obtained SnO2/Ag hollow microsphere with diameters of ca.3∼5 μm was built from uniformly distributed rutile SnO2 and cubic Ag nanoparticles. Moreover, XPS results indicate the existence of strong interaction between
Ag and SnO2 nanoparticles, rather than simply physical contact, endowing the SnO2/Ag hollow microspheres with excellent photocatalytic performance in the degradation of RhB solution under visible light irradiation.
Semiconductor photocatalysis is an efficient technique to degrade the pollutants from wastewater. Herein, the doping of elements and the construction of heterojunctions are used to expand the visible light region and improve the transfer of photogenerated electrons-holes. The La-ZnO/BiOCl (LZB) heterojunction has been synthesized via the hydrothermal method. Furthermore, LZB-0.30 heterojunction is found to possess the optimal photodegradation efficiency of 100 % for RhB solution under the visible light within 45 min. Its degradation rate is ten times faster than that of La-ZnO, owing to positive development of photostimulated charge carriers. In addition, the results demonstrate that LZB-0.30, as an ideal photocatalyst, has great potential applications in the treatment of contaminants, providing a feasible strategy for environmental protection.
In the present study, NaNbO 3 -CdS nanorods composites with pyroelectric effect were used to degrade RhB solution and sterilize Salmonella under room-temperature cold-hot cycles. The pyrocatalytic decomposition rate of NaNbO 3 -CdS reached 90 % under 45 cold-hot (25–55 °C) cycles while the antibacterial rate of NaNbO 3 -CdS also achieved 90 % under 45 cold-hot (17–37 °C) cycles. Compared with the pyrocatalytic effect of single NaNbO 3 , with the hole’s radicals and superoxide radicals as the main active species, the pyrocatalytic effect of the NaNbO 3 -CdS was significantly enhanced. It is mainly attributed to its surface electrons being captured by CdS, thereby reducing the recombination probability of electron pairs. After four repeated experiments, the high pyrocatalytic activity still maintained, which indicated that the property of NaNbO 3 -CdS composites was stable. The composite nanocatalyst has potential in the degradation of dye pollution and sterilization by temperature difference.
