In this study, Ru(bpy) 3 2+ and oxalate (C 2 O 4 2− ) in Ru@Zn-MOF generated self-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (ECL). The self-enhanced ECL composite exhibited a short electron transfer distance and minimal energy loss, which ensured the high and stable luminescence efficiency of Ru@Zn-MOF. A MnO 2 @AuNPs nanocomposite was introduced into Ru@Zn-MOF via antigen–antibody interactions in the presence of squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCA). This significantly quenched the ECL signal due to the combined effect of the dual quenchers, MnO 2 NFs and AuNPs. A highly efficient ECL-RET immunosensor was constructed for the sensitive detection of SCCA in the linear range of 1 fg/mL to 100 ng/mL, with a limit of detection of 0.26 fg/mL (S/N = 3). This immunosensor has broad clinical applications for the quantitative detection of biomarkers.
A portable, high-throughput visual sensing platform was constructed for the effective detection of catechol (CA), on the basis of the single-electrode electrochemistry system (SEES) and a self-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (SEECL) material, namely Au-Ru@Zn metal-organic framework (MOF). It was found that Ru(bpy) 3 2+ and oxalate co‑encapsulated within the Ru@Zn MOF generated a SEECL signal. To further amplify the SEECL response, tripropylamine (TPA) was introduced as an exogenous co-reactant, synergizing with endogenous oxalate to establish dual ECL pathways. The oxidation product of CA, semiquinone radicals, is proposed to effectively quenched photoexcited Ru(bpy) 3 2+ * species and competitively consume the precursor Ru(bpy) 3 3+ by reducing it to Ru(bpy) 3 2+ , thereby causing the ECL signals of Au-Ru@Zn MOF to be significantly quenched. Under optimal experimental conditions, the Au-Ru@Zn MOF-modified SEES exhibited excellent ECL response performance toward CA, with a linear detection range from 1.0 × 10⁻ 9 to 5.0 × 10⁻ 4 mol·L⁻ 1 and a detection limit as low as 7.94 × 10⁻ 10 mol·L⁻ 1 (S/ N = 3). Additionally, the proposed SEES successfully detected CA in tea with the recoveries ranging from 98.8% to 101.0%. This work offers a novel approach for the sensitive detection of CA and has significant application possibilities in the realm of food safety monitoring with the benefits of high throughput, portability, and low cost. 4-Chloroaniline (4-CAN) plays an important role in chemical and industrial production. However, it remains a challenge to avoid the hydrogenation of the C–Cl bond in the synthesis process to improve selectivity under high activity conditions. In this study, we in situ fabricated ruthenium nanoparticles (Ru NPs) containing vacancies inserted into porous carbon (Ru@C-2) as a highly efficient catalyst for the catalytic hydrogenation of 4-chloronitrobenzene (4-CNB) with remarkable conversion (99.9%), selectivity (99.9%), and stability. Experiments and theoretical calculations indicate that the appropriate Ru vacancies affect the charge distribution of the Ru@C-2 catalyst, promote the electron transfer between the Ru metal and support, and increase the active sites of the Ru metal, thus facilitating the adsorption of 4-CNB and the desorption of 4-CAN to improve the activity and stability of the catalyst. This study can provide some enlightenment for the development of new 4-CNB hydrogenation catalysts.
