Developing ideal Li–O2 batteries (LOBs) requires the discharge product to have a large quantity, have large contact area with the cathode, and not passivate the porous surface after discharge, which put forward high requirement for the design of cathodes. Herein, combining the rational structural design and high activity catalyst selection, minor amounts of RuO2-incorporated Co3O4 nanoneedles grown on carbon cloth are successfully synthesized as binder-free integrated cathodes for LOBs. With this unique design, plenty of electron–ion–oxygen tri-phase reaction interface is created, the side reaction from carbon is isolated, and oxygen reduction reaction/oxygen evolution reaction (OER) kinetics are significantly facilitated. Upon discharge, film-like Li2O2 is observed growing on the needle surface first and eventually ball-like Li2O2 particles form at each tip of the needle. The cathode surface remains porous after discharge, which is beneficial to the OER and is rare in the previous reports. The battery exhibits a high specific discharge capacity (7.64 mAh cm–2) and a long lifespan (500 h at 0.1 mA cm–2). Even with a high current of 0.3 mA cm–2, the battery achieves a cycling life of 200 h. In addition, punch-type LOBs are fabricated and successfully operated, suggesting that the cathode material can be utilized in ultralight, flexible electronic devices.

As a mainstream moderate-high temperature (250–420 °C) particulate denitrification catalyst, V 2 O 5 -WO 3 /TiO 2 (VWT) is not applicable to low-temperature (60–150 °C) iron ore sintering flue gas after semi dry/wet desulfurization. In order to improve the NH 3 -deNO x performance of the VWT particle catalyst at low temperatures, a series of powder VWT denitrification catalysts doped with different content of RuO 2 (R-VWT) prepared by the wet co-impregnation method were researched, and found that the particulate catalyst service temperature (about 100 % NO conversion) is lowered from 225 °C (VWT) to below 175 °C by doping 0.5 % RuO 2 . In addition, a series of characterizations indicate that the doped RuO 2 enhances the redox performance of R-VWT and promotes the generation of more surface active intermediate monodentate nitrate, and accelerates the low-temperature surface SCR transient reaction rate.
It is highly desirable and challenging to design efficient and stable hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalysts in a variety of acidic and alkaline media. Here, a novel ternary catalyst has been proposed consisting of ruthenium dioxide doped carbon nanotubes (denoted as RuO 2 @CNT) wrapped in a multi-step strategy with a first synthesis of a bismuth metal porphyrin-based organic framework as co-catalyst (denoted as RuO 2 @CNT@MOF). The addition of CNT improves not only the conductivity of the electrocatalyst but also the distribution of the active RuO 2 particles. Furthermore, the highly symmetrical conjugated structure of Bi-TCPP MOF facilitates both the adsorption of hydrogen ions and the generation of hydroxyl radicals (•OH). The Bi-TCPP MOF encapsulated in the outer layer of RuO 2 @CNT enhances the mechanical strength and creates the confinement effect, leading to the synthesis of RuO 2 @CNT@MOF as a HER electrocatalyst that exhibits excellent catalytic performance and acid and base resistance. In particular, low overpotentials of 13 mV and 50 mV can be achieved to provide current densities of 10 mA cm −2 in alkaline and acidic media, respectively. Significantly, this work provides new ideas for the careful design and development of MOFs as co-catalysts to improve the overall performance of materials in energy-related fields.
