Electrochemical-mediated amine regeneration (EMAR) is a promising carbon capture technology. It uses an electrochemical process to regenerate amine solutions, replacing conventional thermal methods. This substitution significantly reduces the energy consumption and cost of amine-based CO 2 capture. However, challenges such as slow reaction kinetics and relatively high energy requirements have hindered its commercial adoption. In this work, these limitations are overcome for the first time by introducing additives into the EMAR electrolyte. The amine regeneration performance of mixed solutions incorporating five different additives including β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD), Trisodium phosphate (TSP), Glycine (Gly), 3-Mercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid (MPS), Tetrabutylammonium chloride (TBAC) was systematically evaluated, and the mechanistic role of these additives in the electrochemical regeneration process was thoroughly investigated. Results indicate that TBAC serves as an effective additive that enhances the overall performance of monoethanolamine (MEA) solution within the EMAR system. In terms of CO 2 absorption, the MEA solution with TBAC outperformed those with other additives, achieving higher CO 2 loading capacity and faster absorption kinetics. Furthermore, electrochemical analyses revealed that the reduction of Cu 2+ is facilitated in the TBAC-modified MEA solution compared to other additive systems, while the anodic oxidation of metallic copper to Cu 2+ is also enhanced. Notably, the TBAC-modified MEA solution exhibited significantly improved CO 2 desorption performance. The measured desorption energy consumption for the TBAC system was lower, coupled with higher Faradaic efficiency. Specifically, at a current density of 100 A/m 2 , the desorption energy consumption was determined to be 19.48 kJ/mol CO 2 , demonstrating strong potential for industrial implementation of the EMAR process.

A synthetic method was developed to produce silver nanowires. The method utilized TBAC (tetrabutylammonium chloride) instead of conventional metal halides as crystal seed additives to obtain purer silver nanowires. Our synthesis strategy relies on accelerating the rate of seed–wire conversion. The method allows for the control of the nanowire aspect ratio by tuning the ratio of Ag+ions to polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) monomer units and the molar mass of TBAC. The observed synthesis improvements meet the basic requirements of current industrial manufacturing.

Phenolic wastewater, a type of organic refractory wastewater containing chemical poisons such as phenol, have made a great contribution to human health and the social environment. Therefore, it urgently desires to develop efficient treatment approach for phenolic wastewater. The deep eutectic solvents (DES) provide an attractive option for extracting phenolic compounds. In this work, a series of ammonium-based DES were synthesized and were characterized by in situ IR, FT-IR, and TG-DTG. The extraction conditions of phenolic wastewater were optimized including the kind of DES, temperature, and wastewater concentration. The ability to extract phenolic compounds (phenol and p -chlorophenol) from wastewater by using DES was evaluated. The best experimental conditions for TBAC/Gly DES are temperature of 30 °C, stirring time of 30 min, concentration of 350 mg·L −1 , pH between 2 and 6, and volume ratio V W : V DESs of 2. The mechanism of extract phenolic compounds using TBAC/Gly DES was investigated.

The previous work has demonstrated that tetrabutylammonium chloride (TBAC) has an obvious enhancement effect on electrochemically mediated regeneration of MEA monoamine solution. Building upon this finding, this study expands the TBAC-assisted strategy from a monoamine system to an MEA/DEA mixed-amine system, systematically investigating the influence of key parameters on the regeneration performance of electrochemically mediated MEA/DEA mixed amine solutions with TBAC additive. By optimizing the amine type, MEA/DEA ratio, and Cu 2+ concentration, an efficient TBAC/MEA/DEA ternary system is constructed. The results show that under optimal conditions with an MEA/DEA mass ratio of 1:2 and a Cu 2+ concentration of 0.10 mol·mol −1 amine, the system achieves a desorption energy consumption as low as 14.55 kJ·mol −1 CO 2 , which is 16.9% lower than that of the TBAC-free MEA/DEA system. Characterization analysis confirms that CO 2 is released through the decomposition of carbamate, and the introduction of DEA alters the electrode reaction behavior, thereby facilitating the redox process. The result is the formation of columnar crystals on the cathode and a flower-like structure on the anode. This study provides a practical pathway for low-carbon capture in industrial sectors.
