Inspired of the synergistic effect of the antifouling performance of hydrophilic substance and the self-cleaning function of low surface energy material, we designed and synthesized a kind of macromolecule amphiphilic graft copolymer by the free radical polymerization, which used polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as the main chains, poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate (PEGMA) as the hydrophilic segment and trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFEMA) as the low surface energy segment. Then, the amphiphilic PVC-g-PPEGMA/PTFEMA graft copolymer membrane was successfully prepared via surface segregation through the phase inversion process and was further optimized via the forced self-assembly through annealing treatments. The results showed that the PPEGMA chain segments migrated on the membrane surface which driven the PTFEMA chain segments to enrich on the membrane surface during the annealing process, meanwhile, annealing treatment promoted the local microphase separation and improved the mean pore size and the porosity. Based on the synergistic effect of hydrophilic and low surface energy segments, the PVC-g-PPEGMA/PTFEMA graft copolymer membrane obtained the maximum pure water flux of 510.69 ± 16.28 L∙m −2 ∙h −1 , flux recovery rate of 91.49% and rejection rate of 99.31% in the BSA filtration process, which also revealed significantly antifouling properties. More importantly, the PVC-g-PPEGMA/PTFEMA copolymer membrane exhibited long-time hydrophilic stability, which could extend its potential service life.

The diblock copolymer poly[2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate-r-styrene]-block-poly[(2-cinnamoyloxyethyl methacrylate)] [P(TFEMA-r-Sty)-b-PCEMA] was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization. The copolymer underwent self-assembly in TFEMA/CH2Cl2 to form spherical micelles. Photo-cross-linking of the PCEMA domains of these micelles yielded cross-linked nanoparticles. The cross-linked nanoparticles were subsequently cast from CH2Cl2/methanol solvent mixtures at methanol volume fractions of more than 30% to yield rough surfaces bearing small nanobumps on micron-sized aggregations that were connected together to form cross-linked nanoparticles. These surfaces were superhydrophobic with a water contact angle of 161 ± 1° and a sliding angle of 6 ± 1°. Spraying these nanoparticles onto substrates exhibiting microscale roughness, such as filter paper, by a traditional coating technique also created superhydrophobic surfaces. A thin layer of nanoscale spherical protrusions was observed on the microscale fibers of filter paper by scanning electron microscopy. The coated filter paper samples exhibited a water contact angle and a sliding angle of 153 ± 1° and 9 ± 1°, respectively.

Fluorinated acrylate polymer has received great interest in recent years due to its extraordinary characteristics such as high oxygen permeability, good stability, low surface energy and refractive index . In this work, platinum octaethylporphyrin/poly(methylmethacrylate- co -trifluoroethyl methacrylate) (PtOEP/poly(MMA- co -TFEMA)) oxygen sensing film was prepared by the immobilizing of PtOEP in a poly(MMA- co -TFEMA) matrix and the technological readiness of optical properties was established based on the principle of luminescence quenching . It was found that the oxygen-sensing performance could be improved by optimizing the monomer ratio (MMA/TFEMA = 1:1), tributylphosphate(TBP, 0.05 mL) and PtOEP (5 μg) content. Under this condition, the maximum quenching ratio I 0 /I 100 of the oxygen sensing film is obtained to be about 8.16, Stern-Volmer equation is I 0 /I = 1.003 + 2.663[O 2 ] (R 2 = 0.999), exhibiting a linear relationship, good photo-stability, high sensitivity and accuracy. Finally, the synthesized PtOEP/poly(MMA- co -TFEMA) sensing film was used for DO detection in different water samples.
