A series of supported CoCr 2 O 4 /TUD-1 catalysts with different loadings were prepared and tested for catalytic combustion of dichloromethane, in order to investigate the effect of particle size on the catalyst properties and related catalytic behaviors. It was found that the supported catalyst with low content of CoCr 2 O 4 had smaller CoCr 2 O 4 particles compared to that with high content, as revealed by the XRD results. Consequently, the changes in particle size altered the surface composition of the catalyst, as the small particles contained higher content of surface Cr 6+ species compared to the large ones. The enrichment of Cr 6+ species improved catalyst reducibility and surface acidity, which synergistically governed the observed catalytic behaviors. As a reuslt, the 5CoCr 2 O 4 /TUD-1 catalyst had the highest reaction rate of 64.8 × 10 −7 molDCM g −1 CoCr2o4s −1 , due to its best reducibility and highest surface acidity.

Amid growing global energy demands and the imperative to reduce carbon emissions, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production via Fischer–Tropsch (FT) synthesis has emerged as a pivotal solution. This study focuses on enhancing the selectivity of C8–C16 hydrocarbons for jet fuel through the integration of mesopore confinement effects and acid hydrocracking by developing novel Co/M-TUD-1 catalysts with a uniform, continuous three-dimensional mesoporous architecture. Utilizing sol–gel and melt infiltration methods for catalyst preparation and incorporating metals such as Al, Zr, La, and Ce, we explored how different supports influence FT synthesis outcomes. Characterization techniques, including N2 physisorption, H2-TPR, XRD, NH3-TPD, and Py-FTIR, were employed to understand the physicochemical properties of these catalysts. Experimental results demonstrated significant improvements in jet fuel selectivity, achieving up to 51.3% selectivity and a productivity of 174.7 g/kgcat/h with the Co/Al-TUD-1 catalyst. Further optimization through adjustment of reaction conditions confirmed the potential for industrial-scale SAF production, offering a cleaner, more sustainable approach to addressing fossil fuel shortages.

Cobalt-based catalysts can promote sulfite oxidation to recover the valuable byproducts formed during wet magnesia desulfurization. However, Hg(II) in the desulfurization slurry degrades the quality of reclaimed products and poses considerable environmental risk. Here, a bifunctional sulfur-doped catalyst/adsorbent, Co-TUD-1/S, is prepared through one-pot synthesis, in which the sulfur site is designed for trapping aqueous Hg 2+ . The catalytic rate of Co-TUD-1/S for MgSO 3 is 0.083 mmol/L/S, which is 10.4 times of that under non-catalytic condition, the removal efficiency of Hg 2+ is higher than 90%. The isothermal models and kinetic models for the adsorption of Hg 2+ are well-fitted to the Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order model, respectively, and the maximum adsorption capacity of experimental data is 96 mg/g. The characterization results confirm that Co 3 O 4 is functioned as the active catalysis site, and the formation of S–Hg bonds plays a crucial role in Hg 2+ capture. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the Co site is more likely to combine with sulfite rather than Hg 2+ , which reduces the interference of absorbed Hg 2+ on the catalytic activity of Co. Specialization and cooperation between the catalysis site of –Co and adsorption site of –S are realized. The results reveal that the use of Co-TUD-1/S is a feasible strategy for improving wet desulfurization efficiency.

The one-pot acid-catalyzed the conversion of furfuryl alcohol (FA) to ethyl levulinate (EL) was investigated in the presence of mesoporous aluminosilicate (TUD-1) with a high surface area (up to 579 m 2 g −1 ) and well-interconnected mesospheres synthesized via a solvothermal process and characterized using scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, 27 Al-NMR, and N 2 sorption isotherm. The resulting solid acid catalyst was tested for the alcoholysis of FA with ethanol, affording 87.8% EL yield under the optimal reaction conditions of 120°C and 4 h. Moreover, the catalyst showed a good reusability with less loss of activity after a simple solvent washing and calcination procedure.
