Hydrogels characterized by a three-dimensional polymer network are promising vehicles for oral colon-targeted drug delivery, yet conventional systems relying on intragastric cross-linking agents face clinical limitations. Here, we present a cross-linker-independent oral in situ hydrogel (CCS/CMC-Na) functionalized with Ti₃C₂ MXene nanosheets for optimized inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) therapy. The CCS/CMC-Na hydrogel exhibits a liquid-gel state transition in simulated gastric fluids while gradually returning to a liquid state in simulated colonic fluids, enabling precise targeting of inflamed colon tissues and protecting encapsulated drugs from gastric degradation. The integration of Ti₃C₂ not only enhances mechanical stability but also introduces multifunctional therapeutic capabilities: repairing all levels of intestinal barriers, reducing oxidative stress, inhibiting apoptosis, modulating Regulatory T cells (Treg)/T helper 17 (Th17) cell differentiation and NF-κB/IκB inflammatory pathway, and remodeling the intestinal microbiota. In murine models of acute and chronic colitis, Ti₃C₂@CCS/CMC-Na significantly alleviates disease severity, outperforming clinical first-line drug 5-ASA. Crucially, this system eliminates the need for dual-tube administration, simplifies dosing protocols, and demonstrates excellent biocompatibility over 50 days, addressing key challenges in current IBD therapies. By integrating precise targeting, multimodal therapeutic actions, and scalable fabrication, Ti₃C₂@CCS/CMC-Na represents great clinical translational potential, offering a safer and more effective treatment option for IBD.

Ti 3 C 2 MXene (TM) has great application potential in the field of wave absorption and corrosion resistance due to its unique performance, such as high specific surface area, high electrical conductivity, excellent mechanical and good chemical stability. However, it is difficult to obtain uniformly dispersed TM in the resin matrix due to rapid agglomeration behavior. It is difficult to obtain uniformly dispersed Ti 3 C 2 MXene (TM) in the resin matrix due to rapid agglomeration behavior. Herein, a novel method is presented to improve the corrosion protection and dispersion of TM by polymerizing polyaniline (PANI) nanoparticles between layers. The waterborne epoxy (WEP) coating with PANI-TM had high mechanical properties including impact resistance, adhesion, and flexibility and wear resistance. The PANI-TM-WEP composites can effectively absorb more than 90 % of the electromagnetic waves and demonstrate a decreased glass transition temperature of WEP from 128.0 to 107.6 ℃. Moreover, the |Z| 0.01Hz value of the PANI-TM 0.5 % was 1.2369 × 10 6 Ω·cm 2 , which was one order of magnitude larger than WEP coating. The high-performance anticorrosion of PANI intercalated TM coating is attributed to the synergistic effect of impermeable TM nanosheets and passivation effect of PANI. Therefore, PANI-TM is a potential choice for applications in the fields of anticorrosion and microwave absorption.

HF-free synthesis of FeSe₂@S-Ti₂C via Lewis acidic molten-salt etching. • Simultaneous Ti₂C termination, etching, and FeSe₂ anchoring in one step. • Strong interfacial coupling endows Ti₂C/FeSe₂ with metallic conductivity. • Ti₂C/FeSe₂ delivers high capacity, long life, and high rate for SIBs. • Synergistic Na-storage mechanism of FeSe₂@S-Ti₂C revealed by DFT and in situ EIS/DRT analyses. The development of high-performance anode materials is critical for advancing sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) toward practical applications. Herein, we report a novel FeSe 2 @S-Ti 2 C heterostructure synthesized via a safe and straightforward Lewis acidic molten salt etching strategy followed by in-situ selenization. This approach enables simultaneous etching of Ti 2 AlC MAX phase, surface termination with sulfur-containing groups, and uniform anchoring of FeSe 2 nanoparticles within the Ti 2 C MXene matrix, eliminating the need for hazardous HF or post-synthesis metal removal. The resulting heterostructure integrates multiple advantageous features: The highly conductive Ti₂C MXene framework accelerates the transport of Na + , while its structural robustness effectively accommodates the volume expansion caused by Na + deintercalation. S-containing surface terminations provide additional active sites that enhance Na + adsorption. Ultimately, the FeSe₂@S-Ti₂C anode demonstrates exceptional sodium-storage performance, characterized by a high reversible capacity of 397.6 mAh g −1 after 350 cycles at 1 A g −1 , superior rate capability (227.8 mAh g −1 at 5 A g −1 ), as well as robust full-cell performance with an initial Coulombic efficiency of 91.2% and a reversible capacity of 493.6 mAh g −1 following 500 cycles at 1 A g −1 . Density functional theory calculations further elucidate the underlying mechanism, revealing metallic conductivity, reduced Na + diffusion barrier (0.30 eV), and enhanced Na adsorption energy (−2.43 eV) in the heterostructure. This work presents a versatile and scalable strategy for constructing advanced MXene-based heterostructures, offering promising avenues for high-performance SIB anodes. Description : Lewis acidic molten salt etching enables one-pot synthesis of FeSe₂@S–Ti₂C heterostructures; the conductive MXene framework with S-terminations and interfacial coupling deliver fast Na + diffusion and robust sodium storage.
