Rapid and sensitive detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is of great significance for cancer patients. Here, molybdenum (Mo) was doped into bismuth oxide (Bi 2 O 3 ) by one-pot hydrothermal method forming porous tremella Bi 2 MoO 6 nanocomposites with a larger specific surface area than the spherical structure. Then, a new kind of hydrangea-like TiO 2 /Bi 2 MoO 6 porous nanoflowers (NFs) was prepared by doping titanium into Bi 2 MoO 6 , where titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) grew in situ on the surface of Bi 2 MoO 6 nanoparticles (NPs). The hydrangea-like structure provides larger specific surface area, higher electron transfer ability and biocompatibility as well as more active sites conducive to the attachment of anti-carcinoembryonic antigen (anti-CEA) to TiO 2 /Bi 2 MoO 6 NFs. A novel label-free electrochemical immunosensor was then constructed for the quantitative detection of CEA using TiO 2 /Bi 2 MoO 6 NFs as sensing platform, showing a good linear relationship with CEA in the concentration range 1.0 pg/mL ~ 1.0 mg/mL and a detection limit of 0.125 pg/mL (S/N = 3). The results achieved with the designed immunosensor are comparable with many existing immunosensors used for the detection of CEA in real samples. Graphical abstract
S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts have emerged as a promising strategy to overcome the limitations of conventional systems by enabling efficient charge transfer while preserving strong redox capability. In this study, a novel flower-like In-TiO 2 @Bi 2 MoO 6 S-scheme heterojunction was developed via a simple hydrothermal synthesis for visible-light-driven photocatalytic desulfurization of H 2 S. The optimized In-TiO 2 -0.4@Bi 2 MoO 6 composition (molar ratio of In-TiO 2 to Bi 2 MoO 6 = 0.4) achieved complete H 2 S removal within 120 min under visible-light irradiation, exhibiting outstanding activity, operational stability, and adaptability to various desulfurization conditions. Mechanistic investigations using VB-XPS, UPS, ESR, DRIFTS and DFT calculations confirmed that the S-scheme configuration accelerated photoinduced charge separation, reduced electron migration distances, and maintained a high redox potential, thereby promoting efficient generation of reactive oxygen species for sulfur conversion. The synergistic interaction between In-TiO 2 and Bi 2 MoO 6 provides a robust platform for efficient, selective, and durable desulfurization under mild conditions. These findings offer a mechanistic framework for designing next-generation S-scheme photocatalysts for environmental remediation and energy-related applications.

A novel Bi2MoO6/N–TiO2 hierarchical heterostructure photocatalyst was successfully fabricated through the in situ growth of Bi2MoO6 nanosheets on rough N–TiO2 nanorods with a bark-like surface, and the structure–property relationship of this composite material was researched. The results show that the unique bark-like morphology of N–TiO2 leads to superior adsorption ability, and also provides effective growth sites for Bi2MoO6 nanosheets. The growth of Bi2MoO6 nanosheets leads to the formation of a hierarchical structure, therefore increasing the adsorption ability. The heterostructure between Bi2MoO6 and N–TiO2 promotes the highly efficient separation and transfer of photogenerated carriers. These features make the Bi2MoO6/N–TiO2 composite photocatalyst exhibit outstanding photocatalytic activity, and the optimal photocatalytic degradation rate for tetracycline hydrochloride (20 mg L−1) is up to 93.76% in 90 min under weak-visible-light irradiation (5 W, LED, λ > 400 nm). After five cycling runs, the composite photocatalyst still maintains high photocatalytic activity. Holes and superoxide radicals are confirmed to be the main reactive species in the photocatalytic reaction over the Bi2MoO6/N–TiO2 composite photocatalyst.
