Weak visible-light capture ability, ultrahigh charge recombination rate, and poor redox ability are crucial constraints to improve the photocatalytic performance for toluene degradation under visible-light. Hence, a dual Z-scheme of Bi 2 O 3 quantum dots decorated TiO 2 /BiOBr photocatalysts (Bi 2 O 3 QDs@TiO 2 /BiOBr) were prepared by a two-step hydrothermal method . X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were performed to identify the existence of Bi 2 O 3 QDs and TiO 2 that loaded on the surface of BiOBr. The introducing of oxygen vacancies in TiO 2 broadened its light absorption region to the visible-light. The constitutes of Bi 2 O 3 QDs and BiOBr were regulated and the optimized photocatalyst BT1-B10 exhibited 94.1 % of removal rate for gaseous toluene degradation after 150 min irradiation of visible-light (>420 nm) as well as good recoverability and durability. This result was obviously superior to other comparison samples. In-situ DRIFTs spectra and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) were carried out to provide a possible pathway for the toluene degradation. Additionally, a dual-channel electron transfer model based on the Z-scheme was proposed, which presented desirable visible-light response region, efficient charge separation efficiency, and enhanced redox ability. Notably, hydroxyl radicals (•OH) served as the dominant active species was confirmed by electron spin resonance (ESR) and gas-phase capture tests, that was beneficial to the ring-opening of toluene degradation. This dual Z-scheme heterojunction of Bi 2 O 3 QDs@TiO 2 /BiOBr photocatalyst showed great potential for the degradation of toluene under visible-light irradiation.

A novel and efficient approach is presented herein to develop self-cleaning and ultraviolet resistant cotton fabrics loaded with a self-dispersed and reactive TiO2/BiOBr photocatalyst. TiO2/BiOBr was synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS) and photocatalytic activity. Amino-functionalized TiO2/BiOBr was prepared through the reaction of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane with TiO2/BiOBr and then reacted with sodium 2-(4-(4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine-2-ylamino)phenylsulfonyl)ethyl sulfate (SDTES) to obtain self-dispersed and reactive TiO2/BiOBr. The chemical structure and dispersity of TiO2/BiOBr, amino-functionalized TiO2/BiOBr and self-dispersed and reactive TiO2/BiOBr were revealed utilizing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and a zeta potential test. Cotton fabric was loaded with self-dispersed and reactive TiO2/BiOBr by the dip dyeing method. XRD and SEM were employed to characterize the crystalline structure and surface morphology of cotton fabrics, respectively. In addition, the anti-ultraviolet, self-cleaning and wash fastness properties of cotton fabrics were studied. The photocatalytic test demonstrated that TiO2/BiOBr has superior photocatalytic activity than TiO2 or BiOBr under simulated sunlight irradiation. In addition, the experimental results showed that self-dispersed and reactive TiO2/BiOBr had commendable dispersity and storage stability. The cotton fabric loaded with self-dispersed and reactive TiO2/BiOBr had exceptional anti-ultraviolet, self-cleaning and washing properties. The photocatalytic mechanism of self-dispersed and reactive TiO2/BiOBr and its binding reactions with cotton fabric were proposed, which may provide a reference for broad application potential in functional textiles.

Titanium microspheres served a dual role in this study. First, they acted as supporting materials for TiO 2 /BiOBr photocatalysts. Second, they provided a low-cost precursor for titanium dioxide preparation. The growth of core-shell structured Ti@TiO 2 microspheres was realized using a hydrothermal method in NaOH solution. By varying the concentration of NaOH solution, TiO 2 nanowires with different morphologies were fabricated. A comprehensive characterization of the samples using field-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction measurements, and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis revealed that TiO 2 nanostructures formed a well-coated layer on titanium microspheres, demonstrating an anatase crystal structure. The photocatalytic performance of the obtained core-shell structured Ti@TiO 2 microspheres was studied through the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) solution. The results demonstrated that the sample prepared in NaOH solution with the concentration of 7 M exhibited the best photocatalytic performance, achieving an RhB removal efficiency of nearly 100% within 100 min under simulated light irradiation. In order to further improve the photocatalytic performance of the prepared samples, BiOBr was loaded on the surface of TiO 2 nanowires via a solvothermal method, yielding core-shell structured Ti@TiO 2 /BiOBr heterojunction photocatalysts, consisting of a metallic Ti core and a composite TiO₂/BiOBr shell. The catalysts demonstrated a significant enhancement in photocatalytic performance compared with core-shell structured Ti@TiO 2 microspheres, achieving nearly complete degradation of RhB solutions within 30 min. Furthermore, the photocatalyst maintained 91.92% of its activity after three consecutive cycles.

Although BiOBr exhibits a good photodegradation activity for organic pollutants due to its special layered structure, low visible-light utilization and insufficiently exposed active sites limit its photocatalytic efficiency. To address these challenges, we construct TiO 2 @BiOBr (HTBB) photocatalyst by coupling hollow spherical structure and p-n heterojunction. The strong built-in electric field can boost efficient charge separation, while hollow spherical structure not only can provide abundant accessible active sites due to its unique two-sided available interfaces, but also can promote light absorption through multiple reflection mechanism. As a result, the degradation rate of levofloxacin (LVFX) over HTBB photocatalyst is as high as 96.25 % under visible light within 1 h and still maintains a high level (>90 %) after five successive cycles. Meanwhile, the photocatalytic performance of HTBB shows excellent harsh environment tolerance. Therefore, this work provides a new insight for constructing BiOBr-based hollow spherical photocatalysts for the treatment of antibiotic wastewater.

N/Ti 3+ co-doping multiphasic TiO 2 /BiOBr heterojunctions (NT-TBx) were prepared by one-step in situ hydrothermal processes. The crystal phase, morphology, component, and optical properties of the heterojunctions were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy techniques, respectively. The as-prepared samples exhibit better sonocatalytic activity for the degradation methylene blue, Rhodamine B, and p -Nitrophenol aqueous solution compared with pristine TiO 2 and N/Ti 3+ co-doping multiphasic TiO 2 . Especially, the highest degradation ratio of methylene blue was achieved for NT-TB 0.3 up to 98.2% after 50 min under ultrasonic irradiation. The high sonocatalytic activity has been kept after four cycles with the tiny decline, indicating the excellent stability of the as-prepared samples. The improvement of sonocatalytic activity could be attributed to the formation of doping level and multiphasic TiO 2 /BiOBr heterojunctions, which account for the absorption of long wavelength light and the electron-hole pair separation, respectively. Furthermore, superoxide radical ( O 2 − ) was demonstrated to be the main reactive species for the degradation of methylene blue under ultrasonic irradiation. This study provides a facile fabrication procedure for N/Ti 3+ co-doping multiphasic TiO 2 /BiOBr heterojunctions and demonstrates an efficient route to promote the application of TiO 2 in addressing environment-related issues.

The development of efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) degradation under visible light remains a critical challenge due to constraints in light absorption efficiency and rapid electron-hole recombination. In this study, a novel dual S-scheme ternary heterojunction photocatalyst, In-TiO 2 @BiOBr@In-TCPP (IBP), was synthesized via a hydrothermal method for high-performance H 2 S desulfurization. Comprehensive characterization confirmed the successful formation of the heterostructure, where In-TiO 2 facilitated spontaneous H 2 S dissociation, BiOBr served as an efficient electron transport medium, and In-TCPP extended the light absorption spectrum to 1200 nm. The optimized IBP-3 demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving complete H 2 S degradation (100 %) within 120 min under visible light irradiation and retaining over 70 % efficiency even after 8 h of continuous operation. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the synergistic integration of In-TiO 2 , BiOBr, and In-TCPP enhanced visible light utilization, suppressed charge carrier recombination, and promoted reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation via internal electric fields (IEF) and S-scheme charge transfer pathways. This study not only presents the rational engineering of multi-component systems for designing advanced heterojunction photocatalysts to address industrial desulfurization challenges, but also emphasizes the potential of tailored heterostructures in advancing sustainable environmental remediation technologies.

Titanium dioxide - bismuth oxybromide (TiO 2 -BiOBr) composites were successfully prepared using simple one-step grinding, which not only simplifies the production process but also establishes a solid foundation for mass production. Notably, the morphology of BiOBr synthesized by solvothermal significantly affects the performance of the materials after compounding; however, further investigations revealed that the interfacial effects in these composites were not markedly superior to those prepared using the solid-phase grinding method. The composites fabricated through the grinding technique exhibited substantially enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to those produced by conventional solvothermal. This enhancement can be primarily attributed to the interfacial interactions that promote synergistic catalytic effects between TiO 2 and BiOBr. Moreover, the grinding process roughens the material surface and significantly increases its specific surface area, thereby enhancing light scattering and absorption, and optimizing light utilization. Under visible light conditions, the 5 % TiO 2 -BiOBr composites demonstrates outstanding photocatalytic performance under visible light irradiation, achieving 92 % degradation efficiency for ciprofloxacin (CIP) while maintaining excellent stability across various antibiotics. Furthermore, this material exhibits remarkable CH 4 selectivity in CO 2 photoreduction. Collectively, these findings indicate that the low-cost and high-performance composites synthesized via grinding offer a practical solution for antibiotic wastewater treatment. The novelty of this study lies in the proposal of a low-cost and efficient synthesis method. It points to a new direction for the preparation of photocatalytic materials. This representing a significant advancement in environmental pollution control.

Novel 2D/2D TiO 2 /BiOBr (TOB- x , x represented the molar ratio of TiO 2 /BiOBr) heterostructures with dual oxygen vacancies were fabricated via an in-situ hydrothermal approach. Owing to the construction of p-n heterostructure and strong interface interaction, a S-scheme charge transfer path was formed, which facilitated efficiency separation and transfer of charge and retained strong redox capacities of photoexcited electrons and holes. Simultaneously, the introduction of oxygen vacancies induced strong photoabsorption, improving the light harvesting capacity. The oxytetracycline (OTC) degradation efficiencies over TOB-0.05 and TOB-0.1 were significantly improved relative to those of single components. The TOB-0.1 photocatalyst displayed the best photocatalytic activity, which was 3.75 and 1.76 times higher those of TiO 2 -Vo and BiOBr-Vo, respectively. Furthermore, we also examined the effects of pH, ions, and water matrixes on OTC conversion of TOB-0.1, and investigated the photocatalytic degradation mechanism. This work provides a useful guideline for constructing high-efficiency photocatalysts for wastewater treatments by combining 2D/2D heterojunction and dual-defect engineering.
