A post-synthetic approach using nitrogen-containing substances modify UiO-67 was proposed to enhance its adsorption for Congo red (CR). The newly synthesized materials were thoroughly analyzed by SEM, TEM, EDX, XPS, XRD, FT-IR, TGA and BET techniques. Results showed that N was successfully incorporated into UiO-67 frameworks to prepare of N X -UiO-67, through coordination interaction with Zr-O clusters. Compared to parent UiO-67, the obtained N X -UiO-67 exhibited a significant increase in adsorption of CR, and the adsorption capacities for CR were in the following order: N U -UiO-67 (2360 mg g −1 ) > N T -UiO-67 (1986.3 mg g −1 ) > N A -UiO-67 (1493 mg g −1 ). Moreover, the pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Langmuir isothermal model exhibited a better fit to describe the adsorption behavior of CR onto the N X -UiO-67.
Functional materials with good biocompatibility have been widely used in the study of genomics, proteomics and disease diagnosis, which has improved the progress of life science. In this paper, the material not only exhibited a strong affinity to the phosphate groups on the exosomal membrane due to the coexistence of Zr–O clusters and Ti 4+ , but also owned great hydrophilicity to reduce non-specific adsorption of contaminated proteins, achieving the separation and purification of exosomes from complex biosamples. The model exosomes extracted by ultracentrifugation (UC) were used to evaluate the feasibility of Fe 3 O 4 @UiO-66-NH 2 @PA-Ti 4+ capturing exosomes. The process of Fe 3 O 4 @UiO-66-NH 2 @PA-Ti 4+ capturing exosomes was simple to operate with a high recovery rate (97.3%) within a short time (5 min). Then Fe 3 O 4 @UiO-66-NH 2 @PA-Ti 4+ was further applied to capture exosomes in media and urine followed by the downstream proteomics analysis. 348 and 284 exosomal proteins were identified for cell medium and urine, respectively. This work shows great potential of the material for subsequent function research of disease-related exosomes by separating exosomes rapidly and efficiently.
The technology of photolysis water hydrogen evolution driven by solar energy is considered promising to alleviate the energy crisis. However, the low separation and transfer efficiency of photogenerated charge carriers is still one of the challenges leading to the inferior efficiency of photocatalysis. In this paper, alkyl n-hexanoic acid (HA) and aryl benzoic acid (BA) were used as modulators to synthesize HA-PCN-224 and BA-PCN-224 by solvothermal method, in which TCPP linker was coordinated with Zr-O clusters in accompany with part of reserved modulators, respectively. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity of HA-PCN-224 (225.29 μmol·g −1 ·h −1 ) was 2.86 times as that of BA-PCN-224 (78.78 μmol·g −1 ·h −1 ), which should be ascribed to the higher conductivity confirmed by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Subsequently, the sample HA-PCN-224(Pd) was synthesized by introducing Pd Ⅱ into the porphyrin center. The Photoluminescence (PL), photocurrent response (i-t), Mott-Schottky characterization, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that HA-PCN-224(Pd) has excellent electrical conductivity and unique Pd Ⅱ electron bridge, which can significantly accelerate the carrier separation and transfer efficiency. Surprisingly, with the help of Pd Ⅱ as an electron bridge, the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity of HA-PCN-224(Pd) is as high as 20411.32 μmol·g −1 ·h −1 , which is about 90.60 times as that of the original HA-PCN-224. This work provides us with a novel avenue to modulate the conductivity of MOFs via adjusting monocarboxylic acid regulators and introduce unique Pd Ⅱ as the effective electron bridge to promote excellent separation and transfer efficiency of charge carriers for the application in solar energy-related fields.
