Orthorhombic ZrTiO4is an attractive dielectric material; its optical properties are, however, less known. In this paper, we reported on the microstructure and luminescence studies of pristine ZrTiO4and Eu3+-doped ZrTiO4phosphors. The results indicated that two types of TiO6octahedra, the isolated/ localized and coupled/delocalized, coexisted in host matrix. Eu3+doping could induce oxygen vacancy defect states located below the bottom of the conduction band. Pristine ZrTiO4showed bright yellow luminescence via STEs recombination at defects sites at low temperatures, but significant thermal quenching occurred due to STEs migration to quenching centers at elevated temperatures. Effective host sensitized energy transfer to Eu3+was observed in ZrTiO4:Eu3+phosphors and yielded the red characteristic emissions of Eu3+. Anomalous STEs luminescence enhancement and spectral blue-shift in the excitation spectra with higher Eu3 +concentration appeared and were explained by considering three factors: competitive absorption between electron transitions from the top of the valence band to the defect states and host conduction band, Eu3+doping driving the production of more isolated TiO6octahedra, and energy back-transfer from Eu3+activators to other titanate groups. On the basis of the dual-emitting combination strategy involving host STEs and Eu3+luminescence, ZrTiO4:Eu3+phosphors were demonstrated to be ratiometric self-referencing optical thermometric materials, with a working range of 153–313 K and a maxima of relative sensitivity to ~1.1% K−1at 243 K.

We present a novel and facile fabrication of wall-thickness controlled ZrTiO 4 nanotubes (ZTNTs) using bacterial cellulose (BC) as a template. Unique porous thin-walls and interconnected channels within ZTNTs contribute a lot to the enhanced photodegradation activity. The roles of the wall-thicknesses in physicochemical properties as well as photocatalytic activities were careful investigated which might extend the synthesis of other nanotubes with higher catalytic performance.

To enhance the low-temperature plasticity and high-temperature strength of molybdenum alloys , we introduce a method of uniformly dispersing nano-ZrTiO 4 particles within and between molybdenum grains. This approach effectively eliminates the formation of hard agglomerations between particles and leads to a further refinement of molybdenum grains. The research employs molecular level solid-liquid doping and subsequent liquid dispersion evaporation techniques to successfully synthesize Mo-ZrTiO 4 nano-composite powder following H 2 reduction. Subsequently, a novel fine-grained Mo-ZrTiO 4 alloy sintered billet is successfully fabricated through cold isostatic pressing and high-temperature sintering. To assess the efficacy of the process, three sets of comparative experiments are designed, each employing different methods. The comparative studies have revealed compelling advantages of the liquid dispersed evaporated fine-grained samples of Mo-ZrTiO 4 . The key advantages identified are as follows:the samples demonstrate a refined grain size, ranging from 2 μm to 4 μm. Within the samples, the nano ZrTiO 4 particles have an average size of approximately 200 nm. The density and Vickers hardness of the samples is measured at 10.21 g/cm 3 and 268.5 ± 17HV 0.2 , respectively. The samples exhibit impressive toughness even at room temperature, notably, the high-temperature compressive strength of these samples surpasses that of the deformed samples reported in previous literature concerning this system. The mechanism of liquid dispersion evaporation method in grain nucleation, growth, and powder drying , reduction, and sintering processes was systematically elaborated. Simultaneously, a detailed analysis was conducted on two high-temperature strengthening mechanisms that impact the mechanical properties. The results indicate that this excellent performance can be attributed to the synergistic effect of both fine grain strengthening and uniform dispersion strengthening of second-phase nanoparticles .

In this study, a heterogeneous polyoxometalate-ionic liquid hybrid catalyst was successfully constructed on a hierarchical porous ZrTiO 4 support for one-pot biodiesel production from acidic oils. The three-dimensional ordered macro-mesoporous structure of the catalyst significantly facilitated reactant diffusion and increased the accessibility of active sites, leading to superior catalytic activity compared to non-hierarchical analogues. The immobilized polyoxometalate-ionic liquid composite functioned as integrated Brønsted-Lewis acid sites, substantially boosting the overall acidity. This catalyst demonstrated high efficiency in simultaneously converting triglycerides and free fatty acids into biodiesel. Under optimized reaction conditions, including a methanol-to-oil molar ratio of 35:1, a temperature of 130 °C, a catalyst loading of 8 wt%, and a reaction time of 6 h, it achieved 92.7% oil conversion alongside complete conversion of free fatty acids. Kinetic analysis revealed an ultralow activation energy of 35.2 kJ·mol −1 , which is significantly lower than values reported in the literature. In addition, the catalyst demonstrated robust tolerance to both water and free fatty acids in the feedstocks and retained significant activity after five reuses, showing great potential for sustainable biodiesel production from low-cost feedstocks.
