The environmental pollution caused by antibiotics is becoming more serious. In this study, the Mn/BiPO4/g-C3N4composite (Mn-BPC) and the Ti/g-C3N4/BiPO4composite (Ti-BPC) were prepared by hydrothermal reaction method and solvent method, respectively, and applied to the degradation of tetracycline (TC) in an aqueous environment. The XRD and HRTEM results showed that these materials had the crystalline rod-like structure of BiPO4and abundant carbon, nitrogen and carbon–oxygen surface functional groups. The degradation of TC by Ti-BPC and Mn-BPC were nearly 92% and 79%, respectively. The degradation processes of TC were well consistent with the pseudo-second-order kinetics model and R2values were closer to 1. The trapping experiment showed that electron holes (h+) were the main reactive species for the degradation of tetracycline, OH· and O2−also have certain effects. Also, the possible photocatalytic degradation mechanism of Ti-BPC and Mn-BPC composites was thereby proposed. TC was firstly adsorbed on the surface of catalysts, and subsequently degraded by reactive species such as h+, OH· and O2−generated under visible light excitation. This study shows that the Ti-BPC and Mn-BPC photocatalysts have great potential in antibiotic degradation and can provide new ideas for antibiotic removal in aqueous environments. Keywords:bismuth phosphate;graphite phase carbon nitride;tetracycline (TC)

Propranolol , a widely used β-adrenergic receptor antagonist drug with potential toxic effects to organisms and human beings, was not completely removed from environment through traditional wastewater treatments . It is necessary to sensitively and selectively monitor the trace content propranolol in various samples. In this work, a novel photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor based on Au nanoparticles (NPs) modified g-C 3 N 4 /BiPO 4 heterojunction was successfully fabricated for detecting (S)-propranolol (S-Pro), an important racemic enantiomer of propranolol. Herein, g-C 3 N 4 was employed as visible light-active semiconductor. The photocatalytic activity of g-C 3 N 4 was enhanced via forming heterojunction with BiPO 4 to facilitate the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers . In addition, Au NPs with perfect conductivity and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect are not only beneficial to the electron transfer and visible light harvest of g-C 3 N 4 /BiPO 4 heterojunction, but also the crucial factor on assembling S-Pro-binding DNA aptamer via Au-S bonding. At the same time, as a π-π conjugated material, g-C 3 N 4 with large surface area also provides an excellent platform for loading Au NPs. Under the visible light illumination, the PEC aptasensor displayed high PEC performance. On such a sensor, specific captured S-Pro by the aptamer was quickly oxidized by the photogenerated holes to inhibit the recombination of the photogenerated carriers, enhanced the PEC response, and realized the detection of S-Pro. Under optimal conditions, the designed PEC aptasensor exhibited a wide linear range of 10 nM to 1000 nM with a low detection limit (defined as S/N = 3) of 2.55 nM. Moreover, the proposed sensor displayed high selectivity , good reproducibility, and general long-term stability. And the S-Pro in real sample was accurately detected using this proposed sensor.

In recent years, the excellent performance of sulfate radical (SO 4 · − ) in advanced oxidation process has attracted more and more attention. However, it requires the consumption of expensive persulphate (PMS/PDS), and the resulting sulfate ion (SO 4 2− ) requires subsequent processing procedures, which limits its practical application value. In this work, a Z-scheme heterojunction g-C 3 N 4 /BiPO 4 (CNB x ) photocatalyst was constructed to in-situ activate the residual SO 4 2− , H 2 O and dissolved O 2 in organic wastewater simultaneously and produce SO 4 · − , ·OH and O 2 · − efficiently, so as to realize enhanced organic pollutant treatment by using clean and renewable solar energy resources. Under the condition of 10 mM SO 4 2− addition and 100 mW·cm −1 illumination, the degradation rate of BPA ( C 0 = 20 mg·L −1 ) by optimized CNB 150 catalyst was 0.30 min −1 , which was 50% higher than that without SO 4 2− (0.20 min −1 ). Detailed characterizations shown that a direct Z-scheme heterojunction was formed between g-C 3 N 4 and BiPO 4 , which could be simultaneously stimulated by light, and then effective charge separation and migration could be achieved through the internal electric field caused by the Fermi-level difference between the g-C 3 N 4 (-0.12 eV) and BiPO 4 (0.01 eV). In general, this study makes full use of renewable solar energy and provides a feasible path for promoting the simultaneous in-situ utilization of small molecules (SO 4 2− , H 2 O and O 2 ) that originally exist in water, which makes organic wastewater treatment more economic, eco-friendly and sustainable.

In recent years, with the large-scale use of antibiotics, the pollution of antibiotics in the environment has become increasingly serious and has attracted widespread attention. In this study, a novel CDs/g-C3N4/BiPO4(CDBPC) composite was successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method for the removal of the antibiotic tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) in water. The experimental results showed that the synthesized photocatalyst was crystalline rods and cotton balls, accompanied by overlapping layered nanosheet structures, and the specific surface area was as high as 518.50 m2/g. This photocatalyst contains g-C3N4and bismuth phosphate (BiPO4) phases, as well as abundant surface functional groups such as C=N, C-O, and P-O. When the optimal conditions were pH 4, CDBPC dosage of 1 g/L, and TC concentration of 10 mg/L, the degradation rate of TC reached 75.50%. Active species capture experiments showed that the main active species in this photocatalytic system were holes (h+), hydroxyl radicals, and superoxide anion radicals. The reaction mechanism for the removal of TC by CDBPC was also proposed. The removal of TC was mainly achieved by the synergy between the adsorption of CDBPC and the oxidation of both holes and hydroxyl radicals. In this system, TC was adsorbed on the surface of CDBPC, and then the adsorbed TC was degraded into small molecular products by an attack with holes and hydroxyl radicals and finally mineralized into carbon dioxide and water. This study indicated that this novel photocatalyst CDBPC has a huge potential for antibiotic removal, which provides a new strategy for antibiotic treatment of wastewater. Keywords:carbon dots;photocatalysis;graphitic carbon nitride;bismuth phosphate;tetracycline hydrochloride
