Asparagine synthetase is a class of aminotransferases widely found in organisms, catalyzing the transfer of the amino group from glutamine to aspartate. The formation of asparagine is a detoxification response when plants are under ammonia stress.
Determination principle: AS catalyzes the hydrolysis of L‑asparagine to L‑aspartate and ammonia. The enzyme activity is calculated by measuring the rate of ammonia increase using Nessler’s reagent.
