High‑density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‑C) is one of the serum lipoproteins, primarily synthesized by the liver. It is capable of transporting cholesterol from peripheral tissues, converting it into bile acids or excreting it directly via bile through the intestinal tract. Therefore, it is an anti‑atherosclerotic plasma lipoprotein, often referred to as the "vascular scavenger." HDL‑C is a protective factor against coronary heart disease, and its level provides important reference value for the clinical diagnosis of coronary heart disease. This product is used for the determination of HDL‑C content in biological samples. The detection principle is as follows: ① Precipitation separation: A precipitating reagent is used to separate high‑density lipoprotein cholesterol from serum. ② Hydrolysis reaction: Cholesterol esterase catalyzes the hydrolysis of cholesteryl esters to free cholesterol (FC) and free fatty acids (FFA), converting cholesteryl esters into FC. ③ Oxidation reaction: Cholesterol oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of FC, generating Δ⁴‑cholestenone and hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). ④ Colorimetric reaction: Peroxidase catalyzes the oxidation of 4‑aminoantipyrine and phenol by H₂O₂, generating a red quinone compound. This product exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 500 nm.
