This product is a classic mixed acid-base indicator prepared by combining Bromocresol Green and Methyl Orange in an optimized ratio. Bromocresol Green has a transition range of pH 3.8 (yellow) to 5.4 (blue-green); Methyl Orange has a transition range of pH 3.1 (red) to 4.4 (yellow). The mixed indicator exhibits a transition range of pH 3.1–5.1: below pH 3.1 it appears wine-red; pH 3.1–4.0 appears orange-red; pH 4.0–5.1 appears gray to dark green; above pH 5.1 it appears green. The endpoint color change is sharp and distinct, making it suitable for strong acid-weak base titrations.
It is widely used in physicochemical titrations, total alkalinity determination, fertilizer testing, environmental water quality analysis, and educational chemistry experiments.
