Description
Cerium(IV) oxide-gadolinium doped nanopowder (20 mol% gadolinium doped) is an electrolytic material with a high oxygen-ion conductivity, which operates at low temperatures. It can be prepared by a variety of methods such as sol-gel, wet chemical process, co-precipitation, hydrothermal and other combustion routes.Gadolinium doped ceria may be prepared by cation complexation sol gel technique. XRD, specific surface area, morphology has been described in a study. Higher oxygen ion conductivity of GDC over zirconia based materials makes it a preferable choice for some components of SOFCs.Gadolinium doped ceria (GDC) may be used as an intermediate temperature electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) at elevated temperatures.
