DMEM/F12 medium is developed on the basis of DMEM with the addition of the more enriched nutrients found in F12 medium, including a variety of trace elements. It is widely used for the culture of many mammalian cell types. In addition, DMEM/F12 is often employed as a basal medium for developing serum‑free formulations, and is also suitable for mammalian cell culture under reduced serum conditions as well as for clonal density cultures.
HEPES is an excellent biological buffer that is non‑toxic to cells. Media supplemented with HEPES can maintain a stable pH range over extended periods, effectively preventing adverse effects on cell growth caused by large pH fluctuations in the culture medium.
This product contains multiple components required for cell culture, including amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts, etc.; however, it contains no proteins, lipids, or any growth factors. Therefore, this product must be used with serum or serum‑free supplements.
