After purification, all batches are checked for molecular weight, degree of substitution, loss on drying and free FITC. FITC-lysine-dextrans are supplied by Aladdin as a yellow to orange powder Aladdin with a molecular weight from 4 kDa to 500 kDa.Fluorescein (FITC) is a bright dye that is used world-wide and absorbs at 493 nm and emits light at 520 nmFITC-lysine-dextrans are synthesised from well-characterised dextran fractions derived from Leuconostoc mesenteroides. The dextran fractions are first labelled with lysine and thereafter functionalised with FITC under mild conditions to form FITC-lysine-dextran.
