Move

Read the section on semi-automatic electro-optical analytical balance in "The Use of Precision Instruments" to familiarize yourself with the names of the components of the balance and the rules for its use, and to master various weighing methods. Operate the balance according to the following steps:

I. Check before use

Whether the balance parts are complete, check whether the balance meets the working requirements.

Weighing

The NaCl samples were weighed by differential subtraction method, two consecutive samples were weighed, the first one 0.2000±0.0100g, i.e., in the range of 0.1900 to 0.2100g and the second one 0.2000±0.0050g, i.e., in the range of 0.1950 to 0.2050g. The decanted samples were placed in a beaker1 and recorded.

III. Work after weighing

Check whether the balance parts are complete, whether the balance has been in a resting state, clean up the table surface, and leave the balance room only after the instructor has checked.

Common Problems

It is best to weigh the sample in the amount that is poured out in one or two passes. Multiple repetitions tend to cause loss of sample, and the sample is also prone to moisture absorption or other changes.
