Determination of sodium, potassium-triphosphate adenosine triphosphatase activity

Summary

ATPases, also known as adenosine triphosphatases, are a class of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and phosphate ions, a reaction that releases energy. In most cases, energy can be transferred and used to drive another chemical reaction that requires energy. This process is widely utilized by all known life forms. Some ATPases are intrinsic membrane proteins (Integral membrane proteins) that can be anchored to biological membranes and can move across them; these ATPases are also known as transmembrane ATPases.
