Dry heat (dry oven) sterilization test

Principle

Dry oven is a square metal box made of double-layer iron plate, the sandwich is filled with asbestos for heat insulation, the heat source (electric furnace) is placed at the bottom of the box with air blower, temperature regulator, thermometer and so on. It is mainly used for sterilizing high temperature resistant glassware, oils (such as petroleum jelly, liquid paraffin, etc.), powders and other items.

Clean and dry the items to be sterilized and place them in the dry oven (they should not be overcrowded and should not be allowed to come into direct contact with the inner bottom plate), close the door of the box and turn on the power. The temperature rises to 160 ℃ ~ 170 ℃ (box temperature exceeds 180 ℃, test tube plugs and wrappers, etc. will be burned or even burning), maintain 2 hours, stop heating. Wait until the temperature naturally drops to below 40 ℃, before you open the door to get things, otherwise the sudden entry of cold air will lead to glass cracking, or hot air spillage caused by the fetchers burns.
