I. Materials and equipment

Materials: potato tubers, pea leaves, onions, sweet potatoes and cucumbers, etc., two 20ml graduated test tubes, electric stove

Reagents: 1.5% catechol alcohol solution: 1.5g of catechol was dissolved in enough 95% alcohol solution and fixed to 100ml.

II. Experimental Steps

1. Take a small amount of peeled fresh potato and chop it.

2. Take 2 test tubes, were added to the appropriate amount of crushed potatoes, one of the first boil for several minutes, and then add 10 drops of freshly prepared 1.5% catechol alcohol solution, observe the phenomenon, such as the solution produces brown, that catechol is oxidized, oxidation degree is different, the performance of different colors.

Repeat the above experiment with pea leaves, onions, sweet potatoes and cucumbers, and if any of these materials do not immediately oxidize the catechol solution, do the following experiment.
