Operation method

Observation of anthocyanin and inorganic salt crystallization

Materials and Instruments

Onion bulbs Duckweed
Blade. Microscope.

Move

1. Anthocyanin

Take an onion bulb and cut it into four parts with a razor blade. Choose 1 piece of scale leaf, in its outer surface purple deeper with a razor blade carved out a 5mmx5mm small square, with a regent tear a small piece of epidermis, placed in the center of the slide in a drop of water, cover the coverslip, do not stain, directly under the microscope to observe. The kyanin of onion cells is lavender in color and dissolves uniformly in the cytosol. Alternatively, the epidermis can be torn from the petals of various colored flowers to observe the anthocyanins in their cells.

2 Crystals

Many metabolites in plant cells are often found in the cytosol of thin-walled cells of mature plant tissues. Tear the epidermis of duckweed leaves to make a fashion film, observed under the microscope, can be seen in the epidermal cells there are many needle-like calcium oxalate crystals, mainly stored in the vesicles, for the needle crystals (Figure 2-4-4).
